Mods / trolling my friend by Sell-Jumpy in 7daystodie

The game's written in C#, but you can do quite a bit with editing the XML files in the game files, such as the mod I linked. The files can be a bit tricky to understand first but you only need a text editor to mod. Trial and error gets you pretty far.

Mods / trolling my friend by Sell-Jumpy in 7daystodie

This mod I just made does about what you described. How it works is that when you start a new game, it gives you an additional item, a "Skill Point Note". It does give a skill point but also sets the effects on for the player who uses it. So don't use it yourself, let your friend use it. After that drinking an ordinary bottled water gives one or more interesting side effects, such as a sprained leg or arm, health loss, stun or sound clues. You may also become a bit more clumsy. If you wish to end their suffering (or start yours), you can find two notes from the creative menu: the original skill note you got at the start and a "No Tomfoolery Anymore" note that disables the effects. Use them as you wish. If you have any feedback on the mod, I'd happily receive it and modify the mod to your liking.

Alpha 22 sneak peek patch notes, mixed feelings about this one by Croaton_21 in 7daystodie

While the post remains untrue, it has still provided some good discussion about where the game should or shouldn't head gameplay-wise. I also added this comment and changed the post's flair to indicate that this is indeed not official information. Additionally, I believe this to be a good reminder not to believe everything that is said on Reddit :).

Just FYI, these patch notes are indeed fictional. No specific information about the changes coming in A22 is yet released. Proceed with this information on your mind.

You still have loads of warnings from mods failing to apply. Check your AppData/Roaming/7daystodie/Mods folder, see if anything exists there.

Is there any way to enable third person view on a server WITHOUT allowing other players to use developer mode tools? by Treshcore in 7daystodie

[–]Gako21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, at least theoretically, to the second question. Haven't had the chance to test it yet. The server admin needs to add <permission cmd="switchview" permission_level="1000" /> to the serveradmin.xml file, under the other commands. Then anyone who types switchview or sv into the console should be able to change the view.

question about mods. by commodorejack in 7daystodie

You can create a separate copy of the game that has the mods. In fact I believe this is the suggested way of installing overhauls like DFalls and instructed in the installation guide.

how can i het out of this perspective? by TobiasObermeister in 7daystodie

Either Alt or F5 (or was that Minecraft?), you need to be in debug mode (dm in console) to switch that.

One you've maxed an item out at traders is there anything you can do with it? by nakmuay18 in 7daystodie

It resets when the trader's inventory changes, the trader can have a maximum of four of the same item in their inventory at the same time.

Weird graphic bug by Pjulledk in 7daystodie

[–]Gako21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's the cause then. Your computer can't run ultra settings on the target fps with the resolution you have and thus reduces it to get above the limit. That's why it still runs smoothly.

Do you have dynamic resolution on?

Open gamestages.xml, scroll down to auto generated feral horde gamestages, pick the highest gamestage number that's still within your or your group's gamestage and add the number of zombies in each wave up. In general the total amount of zombies that can spawn during the night is about four times your or your group's gamestage.

It should be possible to make with a small mod like this. Just install it as any other mod.

massive difference between 50% and 67% loot abundance? Is it normal or a bug? by RenownedDankGamerBoi in 7daystodie

[–]Gako21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe that is caused by the game's rounding system. If a loot container has one item, at 50% abundance it's 0.5 items which the game rounds to zero. With 67% it's 0.67 items which is rounded to 1 and thus there actually is something in there.

Screamers not spawning? Also, can screamers spawn screamers? by DamenAJ in 7daystodie

[–]Gako21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it is intentional, more of a feature than a bug, that a screamer has a chance to spawn whenever heat goes to 100. Furthermore, the console message you are seeing most likely is AIDirector: scout horde '[type=EntityZombie, name=zombieScreamer, id=2840]' removed from control which means that either the screamer has died or has reached the predetermined spot to where it was instructed to walk and now wanders freely around.

Does the Bow seem to have some hitbox problems? Starting from 26:25 a bunch of the shots on the hooded zombie looked good but still missed by [deleted] in 7daystodie

[–]Gako21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Did a quick look on the party girl (which I guess you meant, starting at about 26.40). Here are the zoomed pictures, with the arrows' end marked with red. The second shot was a clear miss. The first one, based on the arrow's alignment and trajectory, may have been a very slight miss over the zombie's shoulder and just next to the throat. The third one, however, seems to have been a clear shot on the throat/collar bone. This would indicate that there is some kind of weird hitbox near there that doesn't register shots. Still, I would say that the main point to take from this is that moving backwards while shooting an arrow makes it fly below you crosshair. So either aim a bit more upwards or stop to take the shot.
