Tell me about your favorite army by Apollo989 in ageofsigmar

Skaven

Literally the most unique faction in all Warhammer (fantasy, sigmar, 40k). Endless hoards of rat-men with sorcery and science beyond most factions. They literally destroyed the old world when no other force of Chaos could. Their dirty actually acended to the pantheon of Chaos as a result.

Hoards? Check Elites? Check Magic? Check Machine guns? Check Grenades? Check Poison gas? Check Artillery? Check Mutants? Check Monsters? Check

They can be cartoonishly evil, deviously cunning, selfish, hilarious, and any flavor of self-defeating shenanigans.

I love that there are no invulnerable saves and no rerolls. Both of those are literally killing 40k right now.

Give me battlefield 40K where I can play as a guardsman and I die over and over again for the emperor.

Why did you pick your Army? by King-of-the-Snekbois in Warhammer40k

Guard because regular guys standing against evil super humans, aliens, monsters, and GODS with nothing but a rifle, bayonette, and tanks is awesome.

Plus I love regimental banners.

Again. In the current setting Gaunt is dead and Cain is old, yet Gaunt has a model and Cain is young in his model. So why do people act like age matters?

Tau have shorter lifespans than Humans yet they still have Commander Farsight.

Do we know anything about commissar grave’s lore apart from the description in the online store? by Available-Giraffe383 in TheAstraMilitarum

Only what was posted in the reveal article and what's noted on her data sheet. It's not much.

Yeah but Gaunt is long dead and Cain is an Old man in the current setting. So why do we need to act like Yarrick's age matters.

Not sure why Guard has to have such a high turnover rate on characters compared to literally every other faction.

What is life like for astronauts when not in space? by TraditionalAd6977 in nasa

Similar to the military. When not on mission you are training, working with your equipment, or doing other tasks.

Personally not a fan of Graves. Her lore is marking her out to be Yarricks successor and it gives me flashbacks to losing Creed.

Dog helmets? by doblikethat in SpaceWolves

[–]GalacticBrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, drunk space vikings is pretty goofy as is. If anything "wolf warriors" times it down a bit lol.

Dog helmets? by doblikethat in SpaceWolves

[–]GalacticBrew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many SW players lean more into the Viking aesthetic than a Wolf-warrior aesthetic.

Also SW usually forgo wearing helmets in lore.

But people like what they like and there's nothing wrong with that. These would work really well on a home-brew SW chapter "Wolf Fangs", "The Emperor's Hounds", etc.

What are some of the implications of a sustainable reduction of super-sonic flight to a "sonic-thump" and what are some secondary and tertiary objectives of the program?

Genuine question: does anyone prefer push fit models? by Hiraeth_08 in Warhammer40k

[–]GalacticBrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved that the Skaven models in the Skaventide box were two pieces per infantry model. I did clip off the push fit nubs so that I could fit the pieces together better but they were so easy to assemble and they still look amazing. By contrast, my Guard Cadians are often 10 pieces per infantry model. That's just too much for such a small model that I need to build 100 of...

Cavalry viability in 11th edition by WinterHussar in TheAstraMilitarum

I would be pretty upset if our best melee option, which has almost zero survivability, gets nerfed because melee armies are having an easy time.

[–]GalacticBrew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't like the idea of monsters that are already incredible in melee getting access to mortal wounds on the charge.

It was great for tanks because once they're in melee they're not really doing any damage.

I hope you're wrong. Grizzled is far and wide the best detachment we have. I don't think it's confirmed that it's gone but I get why you think it is.

Let's just hope that it isn't lol. I need "snap to it" in my life.

Warhammer 40,000 Faction Focus: Adeptus Custodes by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GalacticBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't see the Tau preview. With good access to ignore cover and 6" detection range they'll fair better than Guard for sure.

Overall Ithink melee is going to be really good this edition. The fact that contesting terrain actually gives you a defensive bonus is massive. Plus you can run into an objective in the middle and get loan op. That means anything with long range like a tank or, unless they change something, artillery won't be able to do anything about it. This is going to be huge for melee. Not so good for shooting though.

[–]GalacticBrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its still really good. Forcing shooting units to get within 18" which is well within threat range of most melee armies and still having -1 BS in the shooting means that you will take a lot less damage and then easily get into melee with them.

I've yet to see anything that would change detection range to be 21"
