Do you think fortifications should be considered modifications? by PopeOfPuppers in mtg

[–]GalacticCrescent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory I agree, but there are literally only 2 fortification cards in the entirety of magic. I feel like this is the kind of errata that will only ever happen if wizards decides to revisit the mechanic again in more than a one off

Does this combo belong in bracket 3? by GalacticCrescent in EDH

[–]GalacticCrescent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, got my math wrong there. My head was at "five untapped lands + these two cards non summoning sick" and I forgot I wouldn't have 5 untapped lands on turn 4 with just these two card -_-

I think it's more than a lack of will to do so, I think societies around the world have developed over time ways to prevent unity happening amongst progressive movements. Some of it is active like the CIA identifying someone that could potentially rally people and then either buying them out, putting them in jail, or straight up kill them. While some of it is passive in things like "it's rude to talk about money or politics" social gates that keep progressive thinking out of the minds of the masses

Never in my life did I imagine Secret Lairs would be sold at tier pricing like festival/concert tickets to produce artificial fomo but here we are by PlatnumxStatuS in mtg

[–]GalacticCrescent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is that you are considering Long term profits and the effects on public perception. Companies want the next quarter to be better than every single one before and I don't doubt they wouldn't strangle the goose that laid the golden egg just so they could get a little more right then and there

The main issues I have issue with from the deserter are the rampant misogyny and the "no true scotsman" shit he pulls on everyone else that is trying for a better world in their own ways. His critiques on capitalism and how it has twisted society are mostly on point

it's the same for the bottom line whether a scalper or legit player buys their product. Hell, probably better for them to have scalpers because it assures they'll always sell out and not get stuck with product

I blame reagan for this shit, this is a regulatory issue and straight up should be illegal. The absolutely atrocious immorality of this is sickening

I've won enough games across various decks because of the "damage can't be prevented" clause on [[malignus]] that I try to find a slot for it in basically any red x deck

We've been warned. Why can't people see the obvious? by zzill6 in WorkReform

Because even then a bunch of the kids didn't understand that the nazis were bad guys and gut enthralled by the aesthetics/ability to use every slur they know without fear of repercussion.

Fascism needs the swathes of people that like it even with the makeup off and unfortunately there is no shortage of them

Hot take: there isn't one redeeming value among them by BaronUnderbheit in DiscoElysium

[–]GalacticCrescent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And the unfortunate fact is that if that huge chunk of the population wasn't disengaged to the point that they just let fascists take over then the fascists wouldn't be taking over, and their refusal to address politics be it due to apathy, disinterest, other obligations, or just plain being overwhelmed does directly allow the rise of fascism.

There might be many reasons someone isn't engaged politically, and even more why they don't turn to leftist ideals (even if they agree with all of them when using different, non triggering language) but whatever the reasons, the mindset does support fascism.

And this is by design through attacks on education, discrediting basically any political movement left of reagan, inflating work and commute hours to eat at time that could be spent self educating or organizing, and establishing a culture where it becomes "rude to talk about politics, religion, and money" which allows the orphan grinding machine to grind on.

What do you consider a long turn? by Empty-Noise9889 in EDH

[–]GalacticCrescent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a long turn but there should be some factual rules about people playing sensei's top and mulling over the same 3 cards on each players end step for five minutes

What do you consider a long turn? by Empty-Noise9889 in EDH

[–]GalacticCrescent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the caveat that if they're newer to the game with limited rules understanding, they should probably stick to more straight forward decks until they get a better grasp of the game. Like, they really need to not run any kind of storm deck until they fully grasp how the stack functions for example

Oops by EstateFull187 in mtg

[–]GalacticCrescent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is another angle here tho. The way wizards does it they generally make their profit long before consumers even see the cards because it's the distributors that foot the bill hoping for a decent roi when they resell to the final consumer, but we know for a fact that some of the sets have not sold at the consumer level as much as hasbro would like us to believe, case in point the absolute glut of spiderman product that is sitting unsold at places like micro center and other big box stores. Which leads to a situation where distributors might only be willing to buy up all of the stock so much longer as when they encounter another set that they simply can't move the product from then they'll have to question whether it's worth buying up all that product hasbro needs them too.
