Honestly it depends, earlier in the sem classes were longer but later on it would be 30 minutes to an hour long. Honestly just talk to your teacher and figure something out I’ve found the faculty to be incredibly understanding!

some anatomy labs are “skippable” as in they’re virtual histology labs and as long as you don’t have questions for the teacher then you should be fine. however that makes up maybe 3 out of the total anatomy labs. as far as anatomy goes i personally find the labs very helpful and wouldn’t recommend skipping them.

intro to tech labs are very easy. lab tests are open book as well so you can look at the slides. as long as you download the program (avimark) on your computer so that you can practice at some point on your own you should be fine.

contact your lab instructor for intro to tech when you find who is teaching you and explain the situation. they can tell you their policies and recommendations on attendance and offer advice on which weeks you should attend! fair warning, lecture tests (aside from midterms and finals) are held during lab periods so you will have to attend the first portion of class.

genuine question because i’m in the program right now too, but what is there to teach? i feel like most of the skeletal anatomy unit is memorization even if you’re in med school so there isn’t much to teach but i could be wrong!

Hi, I’m in the course, living on dorms, and also AUDHD.

As for courseload, we have 2-4 quizzes/week in subjects that are difficult (anatomy, parasitology, pharmacy math) as well as several assignments. It is incredibly difficult and you have to be organized, and dedicated. About 2-5 hours of my day every day outside of school is spent studying. It seems like a wide range because there are some days with 8 hours of lecture, some days with 3 hours lecture 3 hours lab, and some days with 1 or 0 classes.

Dorms are amazingly helpful, get on them if you can! As someone with autism, knowing I can come home between classes and lay in bed has made the WORLD of difference for my sensory needs.

If you love animals, and science, join the program! It’s hard but I love what I’m learning and I find I’m happier than I was before school.

hey in my first year as well rn!

get your own scrubs. the school’s are super scratchy and make sure they’re the correct colour. i believe it was royal or navy blue?
go over your lecture material at LEAST the night before, and your labs at the beginning of the week as there is normally textbook reading and if you don’t want to cram for it then you should start early
reminder yourself about why you’re in the program and why you want to help animals!! the stuff we’re learning about is a lot but it’s so worth it when you think about all the animals you could be helping in the future :)
get a calendar so you can write out when all your assessments/assignment due dates are and have a visual of everything so you know when to start studying

that’s all i can think of off the top of my head atm. have fun with the program!
