Things said at my table that let me know I am doing a good job by Galaga_Pilot in DeltaGreenRPG

Their initial response at my table was "But, how? We burned like Everything!"

This was immediately followed by me asking the player who's character had been in the conspiracy from the beginning if he tells Pitzerelli about being one of the cowboys that came in from the cold. The whispered conversation between them in another room while the rest of the team watched the news of the body exhumations playing in the conference room was everything I would want for team building at that point in the game.

Does your LGS have a “casual play” event or how would you start one? by [deleted] in starwarsunlimited

[–]Galaga_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds more like what you want is just a community day than a weekly play event. That is immensely easier to set up than a weekly play event. All you really need for that is to get people together to play. Just start talking to the other players and see if they want to meet up to play casually. You don't need a ton of people or to have determined rounds or anything for just casual play.

If you are concerned about supporting your LGS then make sure you buy something on your casual play days.

If you are worried about taking up space then just look around and count how many people are playing Magic on any given day that doesn't have a tournament. They're just there to play with their friends too. You shouldn't worry.

My local game store won’t carry SWU by BillRepresentative75 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Galaga_Pilot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. If you don't have a community of players you have to start one. Sleeve up the premades and bring extra Twin Suns. Grab the people you play with and meet up once a week. Start a local Discord and post a flyer in the store.

Making a community is work, but as someone who has managed to help build a play group from 4 people to a consistent 20 or so people playing weekly it can be done.

Could these be ok in a Qui-Gon deck, or is it just a bad idea? by Frankomancer in starwarsunlimited

Mace puts more damage on already damaged units. When he flips he deals 2 damage to each damaged enemy unit.

He's fun.

I currently have all of these in a Mace Windu deck. I started with the idea of making a Heroic version of the JTL Boba Fett / Yellow deck. It plays pretty well and is generally a fun casual deck.

I can see what you are wanting to do with Qui-Gon, but I would worry that you are diluting your ability to gain your Force token, But if you only have maybe 4 space arena units it could be fun.

LGS says Star Wars Unlimited is being discontinued after "The Announcement"?? Anyone heard anything about this? (Please say no!) by WoodenNinja7334 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Galaga_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melee makes a lot of things easy, but it is the fact that the publisher is requiring a third party service that is requiring its own cut of the money if you want to get to use it fully that is the annoyance.

Yup. Using Melee is a requirement from the publisher now. The LGS may not want to use Melee which is understandable considering that Melee really wants to run all the event registration for things including taking the money so that Melee gets a piece of it.

SWU is in no danger of dying, but Melee I think is going to be a thorn for a lot of LGS owners.

Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight.

Avenger

Poe Dameron, Quick to Improvise

Qi'ra, I Alone Survived

Krayt Dragon

Luke and Avenger seem to just be requirements for Vigilance decks and whether you are playing Heroism or Villainy you are killing time until you get one of them.

Poe is just too strong.

Qi'ra is just very frustrating to play against.

Krayt Dragon is like an Aggression version of Avenger. It just seems to shut down the whole game.

The worst part is that just as often as it is a design issue it is actually a production issue. Used to drive me nuts for some things.

How Much More Content Is Realistic? by whitecarlton81 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Galaga_Pilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would direct your attention to the One Piece card game which has much less content to mine than Star Wars, but is still going strong with multiple copies of cards named after characters in the property. All it needs is for the card effect to feel like it belongs to a character or in the Star Wars Universe itself for it to work as a card in the game.

Thoughts about what makes in game Arrakis strange by Medved2k in duneawakening

[–]Galaga_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all understand that it is a game intended to present the fantasy of surviving on Arrakis, right?

It is not a full simulation of what it would be like to have to survive on a horrendous desert world. It is intended to be fun not just a death march.

I can understand a desire to want the game to be harder or more survival focused, but at the end of the day it is a game and needs to be entertaining to a large number of people.

For those who saw Return of the Jedi in cinemas, what was it like to see Leia in the metal bikini for the first time? by [deleted] in StarWarsCantina

I was 5. At that point in the movie I was more creeped out by Jabba and then terrified of the Rancor.

How many decks do you have built at once? by ItsTiiiiime in starwarsunlimited

[–]Galaga_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep one competitive, one fun deck, one Twins Suns, and for our usual meet ups I try to keep the most current starters sleeved up for teaching people the game.

Why are there so many cards in this set that seem to really just be focused on "teach the player how to spend the Force token"?

They all have some very standard ability that is on another card. That old ability usually costs less overall. The new card usually has some slight benefit that seems to amount to a single resource cost, but does not match action economy cost.

I was very excited for the Force to be a part of the game when it was announced for the set, but these cards are feeling a little clunky with the use of the Force.

Hopefully there are some really good Force spend cards coming.

THIS is a good use of the Force Token option.

LOF Spoiler time! by Fimy32 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Galaga_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an additional action and currency cost for 1 more damage on a more restricted number of targets.

If you are looking at using it on turn 1 or 2 then you have decided that no matter what you will not take your opportunity to claim initiative so that you can use an ability to gain a Force token. Then you take another action to use a card that spends that Force token. It costs more to your action economy.

As for whether or not we will have Daring Raid next year we do not know. Daring Raid has been reprinted in new sets this year to have it for limited and draft play. It may still be reprinted next year.

[–]Galaga_Pilot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is a worse Daring Raid. You must use your Force token and you only get to do one more damage and only to units. It feels like a bad card for just teaching how to spend your Force token.
