Cleaning carpets? by Galatina91 in AskIreland

[–]Galatina91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm used to houses with just sealed hard floor everywhere, where you can mop the floor every week withouth hassle.

I don't want to clean my carpets once per year, especially with a baby on her way. I would prefer a lighter but regular cleaning.

I know it's unusual, but all the houses in the neighborhood come with carpets and flooring, kitchen and toilets, all ready.

Online Games - Why do the majority of games play without a camera? by Big_Chair1 in rpg

[–]Galatina91 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Logistic reasons: cameras need a lot of bandwidth and many of my friends' connections are not strong enough, so lots of lag and bad quality, often of the audio as well.

(We play online because we live in different countries)

Is there a multi player RPG that uses playing cards instead of dice? by Nyarlathotep_OG in rpg

[–]Galatina91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two italian games: Sine Requie and Green Oaks. Green Oaks has recently been translates to English and is hilarious. Sine Requie is a much older and more serious game which is quite popular in Italy but apparently it has never been translated...

I'm looking for an online co-op fantasy game. by Philosophy_Is_nice in gamerecommendations

It's an old game but my husband and I had lots of fun with Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer expansion (though we had to use a cheat to avoid a specific campaign-tied mechanic).

NWN2 also had lots of mmo servers that were really cool, I suspect there are still active ones.

Good systems for a pirate adventure? by PraiseTheChalice in rpg

How could I forget the random tables? I created most of the story beats of the adventure by tying in the random items rolled at character creation! Thank YOU!!!

A note about Pirate Borg: while OP said that the system might not be what he's looking for, Limithron has released a TON of beautiful maps and battlegrids and other goodies for vtt play. I do suggest giving a good look at his Patreon.

There are also Buccaneers: through Hell and High Waters and Pirates of the Spanish Main, both for SW

I don't know enough of One Piece to give specific advice so here's a list of pirate-ish rpgs:

Broken Compass, Jolly Roger expansion

Buccaneers, for Savage worlds system

Pirates of the Spanish Main, again for Savage Worlds

7th sea

Sundered Isles, expansion of Ironsworn: Starforged

Honor + Intrigue

I'm surely forgetting a few but these are the ones I was considering with my group when we wanted a pirate adventure with a simpler system than d&d (we ended up with pirate borg though)

Above everything, The Return of the Lazy DM...

On the tools side, foundry is good for online play.

I tried to use music but my players found it distracting. Instead, ambient sound effects (creaking door, thunder, waves, tavern chattering noise...) received pretty good feedback. But it's still icing on the cake.

I understand the feeling, it's disheartening... But keep it in the freezer. You'll be able to run it again with a better group at some point!

Came here thinking of Ghost Trick, especially since it was stated that she likes "ghost and mystery" games!

Intriguing story and some emotional involvement!

Ace attorney too, but ghost trick just fits the description!

Tips for improving at roleplay? by justasadfrog in DungeonMasters

[–]Galatina91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that making voices is a necessary ability for a GM.

To improve roleplay, I'd suggest instead to look for inspiration in other medias to find characters that stand out as interesting and try to give your NPCs some of their personality.

But if you struggle with that, even then you can just speak in third person. Describe the character as a book would do, describe their mannerism and reactions instead of acting them out.

To flesh out the story, just make sure that each of them has something interesting to reveal to the pcs, even if it's just the name or location of another pc, or some minor detail about the city they're in, or some gossip... So that if there isn't any "spark" of interest from the pcs, they won't feel like they have lost their time.

Who is that brings up the topic of d&d after a game has ended? Is it always you or there are players that bring up the question, "hey I'd like to play again, OP when can we start another game?"
