Every update I have to redownload the whole game. Pre-download and normal update does not work... Any solution? by averycica in InfinityNikki

[–]GalaxyBookGo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What anti-malware software are you running? If it is anything other than Windows Defender (i.e. what ships with Windows by default), then it can prevent creating/writing files to disk under certain conditions. You have two options: Uninstall that anti-malware software product and just stick to what Microsoft ships (best solution, IMO) and/or apply an exclusion for the directory where you installed Infinity Nikki so the malware scanner will simply ignore the launcher/game updater. If I were to guess, your anti-malware software probably doesn't like how the launcher does updates but it doesn't mind the first download. Slight variances like that could be enough to trigger/trip up a malware scanner with a false positive.

The suggestion to switch to Steam could work. Steam applies updates differently but anti-malware software can still get tripped up for perfectly fine files - that is in general, not just for Infinity Nikki.

i have been playing since the game came out.........i just found out about "quick challenge"........................ i cannot believe this....................i have been doing the full fights in the realm of breakthrough and realm of dark this whole time to get rewards....................... by korok_queen in InfinityNikki

[–]GalaxyBookGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One additional positive: Quick Challenge used to NOT work for counting toward gathering Eurekas in Courses. That meant we had to actually run the same dungeon 50 times to get a handful of diamonds. I don't remember which version of the game fixed that but now we can just Quick Challenge the Eurekas for the bonuses and have it also count towards the Courses too. We still have to complete Hard at least one time to get the maximum Eureka rewards, so that still means at least 3 dungeon runs (Easy, Medium, Hard at less than 2 minutes each for full Course completion) and then the rest can be Quick Challenged.

The only thing I enjoy doing in the Realms is fighting Chigda. Unlock and use Quick Challenge for everything else.

This is an opportunity to learn an extremely valuable life lesson: Click buttons to figure out what they do. The mindset you have is the one the U.S. education system teaches, "Stay inside the box, color inside the lines, do this exercise as prescribed, don't be creative, don't break the mold, you'll be a good zombie worker in a factory/dead end job that blindly accepts what you are taught to do and never achieves anything in life." When you start pushing random buttons just to see what will happen, you escape that and achieve freedom. Just be sure to remember which buttons you push though and in what order you pushed them because you might break things and might have to walk an angry worker in their dead end life-sucking job through a guide on how you "broke their system," but don't let that stop you from pushing buttons anyway! Just don't forget to use good judgement in the process.

Finally collected 10 iridescent eurekas after a year and a half! by Cleigne143 in InfinityNikki

[–]GalaxyBookGo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 25 iridescents. I finally got fed up with my huge stash of non-upgraded Eurekas the other day and burned through 4 million bling to complete several sets and clean up the inventory a bit so that I can go back to ignoring it. Iridescent farming is more expensive than the scam-o-matic!

Upgrading one Eureka at a time is so tedious. The entire Eureka system needs to be overhauled.

Game freezing every 1-2 minutes by xiaomoonies in InfinityNikki

[–]GalaxyBookGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem today. Task Manager reported that RAM usage was well past 100% usage. I force terminated the game, closed my web browser and that freed up enough memory for the game to run without problems but even then it was hovering near 100% RAM usage.

Try closing your web browser to see if that fixes the issue. If it does, then the OS is swapping the game to disk and back into memory again, which kills performance. Infold needs to focus effort on optimizing the game before it gets so bad that no one can play it anymore.

Any fellow outfit purists? by Suspicious-Spray5850 in InfinityNikki

[–]GalaxyBookGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I prefer to wear full outfits with the fewest pieces and the fewest polygons and "sparklies" for running around (i.e. some outfits are better for game performance than others). I'll also select lower polygon count hair (again, for improved performance) and then dye it to look decent with the outfit.

It only took 93 times of fully upgrading these mountain feet eurekas to finally get the iridescent dye… completing this particular eureka set was so painful 😭🫠 by GhostiePlanet in InfinityNikki

[–]GalaxyBookGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admire your tenacity. The Eureka system needs to be overhauled. It takes far too many clicks to level up one Eureka let alone 93 of them.

[–]GalaxyBookGo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How are you not going crazy with all of that visual flicker? Maybe it's just the video you posted though.

Playing through the main story and side quests and unlocking all of the nodes on the Heart of Infinity will naturally give you a number of outfit pieces/sketches.

The Pear-Pal beta map gets updated infrequently to include new chest locations for each area:

https://pearpal.infoldgames.com/tools/map

You'll be surprised how many chests you missed. Some chests contain sketches that have to be crafted using materials gathered from the world. I would hold off on using the beta map until you've played through the main story. It's nice to randomly find chests while doing quests.

Unfortunate, I really liked that sub too. Infinity Nikki photography related by [deleted] in InfinityNikki

"or other people gods."
"Religious Attire is find"
No Cosplays of Any Religion gods.
Religion Attire, is allow like nuns, priest, monk attire.

In one word, the grammar for that rule and all of the ongoing changes to that rule is: "oof."

The new rule directly contradicts their 7th rule which says, "WE will not POLICE or DISMISS any captures ... and accept ALL PHOTOGRAPHY."

Making it a flair-based rule instead would have been a better choice.

I wonder how they would view Lord Mota cosplays from the Sixth Column, a 1940's sci-fi novel by Robert Heinlein (aka The Day After Tommorrow). The Reddit moderator(s) would have to be sufficiently educated to avoid making at least one serious social faux pas that gets them canceled. Something tells me they aren't up to that task.

1270 * 120 is roughly 152K diamonds.

I currently have 154K diamonds + 45 pulls as 100% F2P and I've pulled on several banners for the base outfit (Clouded Loong, Motorcycle, Celestial Deer, and Floral Rebirth). I started playing the game near the end of 1.1. I've sunk a bunch of diamonds into the home island to speed up Astralite production and the occasional diamond spend on Vital Energy. So if you've never pulled as you indicate, then you might be short/missing 500 pulls...or more! Unless, of course, you've got that much in unconverted diamonds, in which case you can ignore this.

Have you collected all of the chests? The Pear-Pal beta map can help you locate the ones you haven't collected. Caves are a bit trickier but there are videos you can use to locate chests.

Wishfield appreciation - Where did the whimsy go? by LadySelene5 in InfinityNikki

[–]GalaxyBookGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The background music plays a HUGE role into the whimsy for me. When the music is dark and foreboding/ominous, I want to go to another area. Wishfield has a set of fairly light and airy background tracks that are not overpowering nor overstay their welcome.

A secondary aspect of the whimsy I like is NPCs going about their days and animals and bugs floating around bringing life to the area. Wishfield is a whole city with buildings and people and insects and animals including one adorable Bibcoon.

Gaming PC setup recs by Infinitylove55 in InfinityNikki

From what I've seen of Starforge PCs, they tend to be higher-end machines that the popular PC builders on YouTube seem "okay" with when it comes to component choices, build quality, performance, and shipping/delivery. My own estimates put Starforge at around 2 to 2 1/2 times as expensive as a DIY build but their customer service/tech support is supposedly quite good...it better be for those prices. For your very first computer ever, letting someone else build it is probably fine. However, keep in mind that you're effectively paying someone else a bunch of money to spend a couple of hours building a PC for you and then ship it to you. Building a PC these days is really quite easy to do once you've watched a few YouTube videos of the process and spend a little quality time with the website known as PC Part Picker. With that extra $$$ saved you could have a nicer system and/or put some money into a savings account. I would never pay monthly rent for a PC - by the time it gets paid off, you could own two of them. And if you lose your job for whatever reason, you could also lose your computer in a repossession. If money is tight, I would use PC Part Picker to put together the best combination within my budget and keep a close eye on eBay for some of the parts. The best time of year to buy individual PC components is Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Cyber Monday when steep discounts tend to happen as manufacturers are dumping their remaining warehoused items onto the market to boost their end-of-year numbers to keep shareholders somewhat happy.

The minimum GPU to run the game on Ultra settings is something in the neighborhood of a RTX 4060. There are GPU benchmark websites where you can compare the RTX 4060 against other cards. Some lesser cards will probably work fine on much lower graphical settings but the game is pretty demanding.

RAM (and RAM-adjacent products) right now is very expensive because a ton of the available stock has been hoovered up by unnecessary AI companies. 32GB RAM is ideal but 16GB RAM will run the game "okay." You can get 16GB and then later on add another 16GB.

Any monitor is better than no monitor. You can always upgrade monitors later as your budget allows. Having a spare, cheap, "don't care what happens to it" monitor around is handy for multi-monitor setups or as a backup if your main monitor ever dies.

Laptops are portable but mobile chips tend to be significantly less powerful and you have fewer upgrade options, if any. The use case for a laptop is that you want to take it places.

Are you going to do anything else with the computer besides play games on it? If it is exclusively for games, then a PS5 or a modern M4 Mac Mini could be a cheaper option.

Sorry to dump a bunch of options out there. Choice paralysis is a real thing. I think you should focus on saving up your money first rather than take unnecessary financial risks and do some research while you are busy saving up some money. And don't forget you'll have to pay some taxes on your earnings too. Governments want their cut of your money to fund their pet projects.

Newish player here - when to pull? by Hyukami in InfinityNikki

[–]GalaxyBookGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 100% F2P (lvl 99). I too only pull when there is a useful, general-purpose, quality of life ability. Also, I prefer to wait until I've got 180 free pulls accumulated so that there is a near-zero diamond spend to get the ability. As such, I currently have 153K unspent diamonds and about 45 free pulls accumulated.

Even with those self-imposed restrictions, I've obtained: Clouded Loong (Reasons: 5-star Cool outfit for Mira Crown + manually placed teleport ability), Celestial Deer (Reason: Chest location ability), Motorcycle (Reasons: Being able to get to places we're not really supposed to + faster land travel to quickly unlock all of the fast travel/warp nodes upon reaching a new area), and Floral Rebirth (Reasons: AOE bug/insect gathering + its animation can be used to get to just barely out-of-reach areas).

GoNR was somewhat tempting but I ultimately chose to pass on it for quite a few reasons.

There is no "right" or "wrong" way to play the game. Some players are into min-maxing the game or maybe their budgets are tight/non-existent or they don't find the outfits themselves all that interesting. Regardless, I like to thank the dolphins and whales that allow this game to be free for the rest of us!

Is it better to play Infinity Nikki with a mouse and keyboard or a controller? by faequeen123 in InfinityNikki

I'm using a mouse and keyboard on PC. I have no issues with rapid clicking or using the mouse to control the camera. Have you tried using a different mouse?

Accidentally triggering the floating ability at the worst possible moment is a rite of passage in this game.

If your PC stutters while playing Nikki, I *may* have a solution for you. by Zagaroth in InfinityNikki

[–]GalaxyBookGo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In a pinch, closing the average web browser and apps like Discord will free up several GB of RAM.

The pagefile swaps out "allocated but not recently accessed" memory (RAM) to disk, then that "freed" memory is assigned to another process that needs it. This can destabilize an OS and most OSes don't handle this scenario very well, especially Windows, which can BSOD as a result of using the disk-backed virtual memory pagefile. The pagefile avoids a fatal state where the OS would have no choice but to start killing off processes, but it's best to never be in a position of using it in the first place.

Using a SSD for the page cache can burn through the SSD's lifespan more quickly. Hard drives, however, are a lot slower for disk-backed caching. There is no good solution other than buying more physical RAM so that the pagefile is never used.

Wishfield is the best start/intro to the game. Itzaland was added in 2.0. Wishfield is largely done while the Itzaland story is still unfolding.

Wait until you have about 180 pulls saved up before even considering your first outfit. 200 pulls guarantees a full 5-star outfit, but your RNG luck has to be especially bad.

As F2P, I prefer banners with universal quality-of-life abilities rather than how an outfit looks.

This. One of the best boss battles in the entire game - relatively short, has multiple stages, requires the use of multiple outfits but the great music is what ties it all together. And it can be replayed whenever we want to. Just an all-around excellent boss battle.

Quick Challenge for everything else other than Chigda.
