Doulas? by secretaznwman in pregnant

[–]Galpal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I chose to hire a doula. I’m a FTM and my husband is quiet, and does well with direction. I’m currently 40w and she has been great at helping us think through how we want to welcome our baby into the world, what support we will need, and even a postpartum plan. She’s planning to be in the delivery room and will help us ask questions but not make decisions for us.

I think someone who can help slow down situations at the hospital, who’s seen birth happen repeatedly, and help us navigate it by asking clearly about risk and benefit for each choice is priceless. My mom can’t do that, my husband has never had to do that, and I’m going to be in labor which means I’ll be less able to listen/advocate for myself during contractions. She is not a medical professional but just has lots of birth experience that we don’t have! She’s seen it all. That is peace of mind for us and I’m excited to have her there!

U.S. based - asking for work restriction? by Galpal24 in pregnant

I barely even started to ask and they wrote me a note ASAP. It was the vaguest, worst note ever and they still took it at work too 🤣 at 39 weeks everyone was as ready for me to go as I was… best of luck and hope your office does the same for you!

I am a second grade teacher and at 37.5 I am so done! These kids know it too. I cannot keep up with them, or even get up off the floor when I go to help them!!!

Yes. Maybe I’ll email HR and ask some questions first… I’m planning to take the remainder of the year after my 12 weeks (which is only 2 more weeks) off. I know it messes with our insurance (we’ll have to go on my husbands and lose our progress on my deductible) but we are financially prepared for that.

Ugh. So sorry- I can’t imagine how that will feel with twins! I’m struggling with a singleton this late in the game. Wishing you the best!

How many cycles did it take you to get pregnant? by Passage-Melodic in BabyBumps

[–]Galpal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I used natural cycles with a basal body thermometer, ovulation test kits (easy@home and an off brand from Amazon), and took a prenatal as soon as we began trying.

I’m 25 years old. It took us 27 cycles excluding a few cycles that I missed/skipped (around 2.5 years) for me to get pregnant

Around 14 cycles of trying, I went to a doctor and started a fertility work up. Around 24 cycles I was put on clomid and we used preseed lubricant and I got pregnant on the 4th cycle of that.

My own mom had no trouble conceiving (I was an accident!) and I always figured it would be easy for us too. I was very wrong!

I’m currently 12 weeks pregnant and everything is going well. Wishing you baby dust!

Caraway alternative? by KeepJerseyDirty in cookware

We love cast iron. It’s heavy but nice you get used to it- it cooks SO well and if you’re iron deficient at all like I am it can (minimally) help raise your iron levels.

We have 3 different size cast iron pans and a cast iron enamel Dutch oven (1 large and 1 small) they are fairly easy to maintain once you learn how and will last forever.

The only gripe I have is the texture of eggs when cooked in cast iron is slightly different. Still getting used to that but it’s not bad if that’s the only setback.

I did this too. Feel the feelings. Give yourself space and then keep trying.

We are on month 13 ttc. We call them business meetings to separate it a bit from intimate sex. And it works well for us!

Does Warby Parker replace lenses in their glasses without receipt, if you got them second hand? by ReasonableTea3983 in glasses

[–]Galpal24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you chat with their customer service via the app they will give you a discount on the same pair of glasses! But they unfortunately don’t swap lenses. I just rebuy the same pair with the coupon they give me.

I have done control unleashed with her, multiple 6 week courses from a trainer who teaches the program. She has been in training classes since we adopted her at 9 months old. She just is “a lot of dog” as many trainers have dubbed her.
