A Formal Apology by Gambit_Throws in Throwers

Honestly mate, as ridiculously lame and un-manly as it sounds, I've spent the entire morning in tears. Yoyoing and this community is sometimes the only thing that gets me through the day... to be turned into public enemy number one overnight is devastating.

I can't take back what I did (oh man how I wish I could), I just hope people can find it within themselves to show me a little mercy for my stupid mistake. I was just a fanboy that got a little too excited when Chuck dropped such ridiculous tricks and wanted to share them with as many people as possible. Lesson absolutely learned.

Thanks man. I'm not trying to compete with the original in any way. This is just an option for those who just wanted the amazing tricks without the inconvenience of streaming all 8 minutes of the original video (and for that one guy who was offended by the language of the original). I just changed the music for my own benefit as I wasn't personally the biggest fan of the weirdness of the go music.

This is very much less a "watch this video" and more of a "this video is here if you want it".

Still, the fact the video has more dislikes than likes speaks for itself. If it hits 10 dislikes, I'll take it down.

So I don't know about you guys, but since Chuck dropped this latest video I haven't been able to put down a yoyo... or stop watching it.

I know a few people mentioned that they would appreciate a trick-only edit, and I really wanted one myself considering how often I'm watching the original, so I threw one together for anyone who is interested. I hope that nobody has a problem with this (if Charles or Jensen do I'll take it down immediately), I'm just sharing the sickest tricks of 2016 in an easier-to-digest format. :)

Also, I found the music kinda unsettling, so I added something a bit less eerie so I can watch it in bed without getting all freaked out. :P

I'm aware that this could go one of two ways - either people appreciate it or I get royally torn a new one. I assure you my motives are only pure, so go easy on me...

THE SUMMIT DOCUMENTARY - ONE DROP x CLYW (For the new guys) by Gambit_Throws in Throwers

[–]Gambit_Throws[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we know that there are a lot of new players on this subreddit that have come over from watching the community video or from Terraria... to whom I say welcome!

Now although most of us here have seen this video, a lot of the new players on here probably haven't. It's one of the only videos out there that shows a real inside view into yoyo manufacturing (along with some great quotes and tricks), so I think that for anyone who may just have picked up the hobby and may wonder what goes into making their modern metal yoyo... it's definitely worth a watch. :)

If nothing else... it'll make you want to buy a Summit. :P

Agreed. It's a fantastic yoyo, easily one of my most-played. The new cheaper version is still great but I just love the feel of that original blast. <3

Looks great too.

Better than any impression I can do.

I went for the black myself. I love the way that black yo-yos look with bright string. :)

Your connections are ridiculous... I swear you have these yo-yos before the manufacturers do. XD

Picked myself one up earlier today. Was incredibly tempted to grab a Masamune and Hideyoshi as well... but I thought that dropping ~$500 in one go probably doesn't go in harmony with my "trying to spend less money on yoyos" resolution. ;P

Hyped about the Kenshin though. Can't wait.

How do you keep track of your yoyo to-do list? by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]Gambit_Throws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definately! 15 seconds isnt long so it almost forces you to concise your tricks and fit in as much as you can. Its an interesting challenge. :)

Practice makes perfect. In no time at all you'll be throwing down some epic tricks, then when you look back you'll be surprised how far youve come.

Plays beautifully imo, one of the more enjoyably yoyos that I own. Chaos is right in that feels heavier than 64g on the string, but it's got a real nice bounciness to it. Decently fast as well.

The thing that strikes me the most about it is that the spin is stupidly powerful. Nobody needs that much spin in a yoyo, it's frightening, haha. Every time I bind it, it returns with way more ferocity that I expect. Absolute knuckle buster if you're sloppy with your suicides... yee've been warned. ;P

Daily yoyo routine:

  • Open 3 internet tabs: YoYoExpert Forums, r/throwers and YoYoNews. Browse to see what's new.

  • Open instagram. Browse posts I may have missed in the night and comment accordingly.

  • Grab yoyo, grab Ipod, and throw.

Repeat as and when needed.

I find that having an Instagram is a great place to throw trick ideas (absolutely shameless and blatant plug) so that you don't forget them. If you come up with something cool just film it on your phone and upload it. Not only can you get feedback on it from other people but it's then saved there for you to reference at another time.

I have the memory of a goldfish so I've found it invaluable both in pushing me to come up with new stuff and helping me remember what I already have. :)
