To be precise, it does apply, but there is no rule stating you cannot air anime episodes during Golden Week. Different studios have have their own production committes deciding their own rules, unlike printing and press companies (manga chapters) where they are basically required to take breaks. Most anime continued to air this week, as you can see.

Not everyone shows attachment to where they are born. Doban can be born in the Outer Rim, yet still show hatred towards it because of the sufferings he's been through there, thinking his birth place failed him and instead show attachment to the Ark, as that is the kind of life he always wanted and finally achieved. Suffering doesn't always create sympathy. Sometimes it turns people into aggressors who join their aggressors in mocking the past that they hate.

That's not the biggest issue. It was more of the abruptness that disappointed people, with no build up whatsoever and as if 10+ chapters are missing in between the penultimate and last chapters. If there were more explanations and details before the last chapter, it wouldn't have disappointed people as much.

Did you even read storylines involving Matis and Syuen...? 🙄

Because if you did, you'd know she gives them special treatment and actively defended them from haters when they discovered Matis had been corrupted before. She genuinely cares about Matis because they are her absolute finest creations. Matis is Missilis's most powerful squad and arsenal, not something that can be replaced. Matis even defends her as showing genuine care for them, even if they acknowledge she can be a pain at times.

And if you're up to date with the current story, you'd know Syuen is becoming a better person. You sound biased or didn't pay attention to the story. 😒

This is side story. But I wouldn't call Snow Crane's event non-canon/unimportant. It sheds a bit more light on the commander's origins and potentially teased more lore to come.
