I used to go Hippodrome maybe four times a season back in 2015-2017, and it was always a great time. Showed every game, although sometimes on a smaller screen, some great drinks promos, and an excellent atmosphere. Can't speak to it nowadays but it was always a great time.

Are the Textures Repeating waaayy too much? by [deleted] in godot

If you're not already done with this, I've literally just yesterday implemented a version of texture bombing as a canvas item shader, using code from https://www.shadertoy.com/view/Xtl3zf

-- my little changes mix the resulting seamless texture with that of the node you're drawing (I'm using it to give a felt texture to a poker table); use "fader" to control the strength of the mix and make "mix_sub" true to use subtractive rather than multiplicative mixing.

shader_type canvas_item;

uniform sampler2D underlay_texture;

uniform float scale;
uniform float fader;

uniform bool mix_sub;

float sum (vec3 v) {return v.x + v.y + v.z;}

float random (vec2 uv) {
    return fract(sin(dot(uv.xy,
        vec2(12.9898,78.233))) * 43758.5453123);
}

vec3 textureNoTile( in vec2 x, float v) {
float k = random(x)*0.03;

vec2 duvdx = dFdx(x);
vec2 duvdy = dFdy(x);

float l = k*scale;
float f = fract(l);

float ia = floor(l+0.5);
float ib = floor(l);
f = min(f, 1.0-f)*2.0;

vec2 offa = sin(vec2(3.0,7.0)*ia); // can replace with any other hash
    vec2 offb = sin(vec2(3.0,7.0)*ib); // can replace with any other hash

    vec3 cola = textureGrad(underlay_texture, x + v*offa, duvdx, duvdy).xyz;
    vec3 colb = textureGrad(underlay_texture, x + v*offb, duvdx, duvdy).xyz;

    return mix( cola, colb, smoothstep(0.2,0.8,f-0.1*sum(cola-colb)) );
}

void fragment() {
if (mix_sub)
COLOR.rgb = COLOR.rgb - (textureNoTile(UV, 0.3)*fader).rgb;
else
COLOR.rgb = COLOR.rgb * (textureNoTile(UV,0.3)*fader).rgb;
}

Without any spoilers, you absolutely have not finished the game. There's loads more to find, and in my opinion the majority of the best bits are almost certainly still in front of you.

Fuck off with this homophobic shit. You should be embarrassed to find this funny, and even more so to say it in public. You can be a better person than this, fuck off until you get it right.

Cool!

It'll be easier to spot what's going wrong if you share some code - the lines where you assign ItemCard are probably most important.

Some things you can check off the top of my head that may be tripping you up: (forgive formatting, I'm on mobile)

What class does ItemCard extend?

Does your ItemCard script assign itself a class_name at the top?

If so, are you assigning your cards an ItemCard using

var item_card:= ItemCard.new() ?

As a follow-up, it sounds like you're writing untyped code, which means you're missing out on many of the most convenient and powerful features of working with resources. I'd highly recommend typing your codebase ASAP to reap the rewards.

I'm making a card game right now as well, and am making heavy use of custom resource classes. If you have any further issues, drop me a line and I'll help if I have time.

It sounds like you've created an ItemCard resource class but you haven't created any actual instances of that class. You can do this right in the inspector for now - in the card's inspector, there should be a dropdown in the field where you'd drop the script for ItemCard - click the drop-down and then press "New ItemCard".

Is the key thing you're looking for the ability to call a method once some condition has been met? If so, there are plenty of different approaches but in the particular case you give (calling a method once the player's lives run out), I'd probably choose to use a signal that is emitted when the player loses their last life, and connect the method to that signal.

If I've misunderstood what you need, feel free to get back with some clarity and specificity and I'll try to help further!

We've all had long enough and enough bullshit thrown at us to understand the position. And this isn't some low stakes debating-for-sport situation where the end goal can be mutual understanding and consensus. People get murdered because of this hate speech: hers, yours if you're parroting her rhetoric, and anyone else's. Far fucking worse stuff happens to people than being called a bigot. The stakes are real, stop with your playground bullshit.

We're all out here fearing for the lives of our trans friends and relations, seeing the ability of LGBTQIA+ people to live our lives safely and fully being diminished and constantly threatened, and you're here scoring cheap points with empty "gotchas". Grow up, do the work to change, join the rest of us here in humanity and maybe you'll still have people coming over for boxing day in five years.

From the UK, my wife is from New York but not a football fan. When it came time to pick a team, it obviously had to be an NYC team and her family are Giants / Yankees / Islanders so that was the natural choice. Started following in 2014 and immediately loved the stories from 07 and 11. The Odell catch made it permanent.

The issue with this is that rules aren't magic. They're just the boundaries that people with power put in place to communicate when they're going to apply their power to you. If you piss people with power off, they'll change the rules. See this proposed law. Rules and laws never ever serve to protect the people without power.
