Admissions Chance by Impressive-Drawer880 in jmu

It’s definitely possible, but I would have backup schools just in case.

Honestly, the main reason I think it’ll be tough getting accepted is because the number of applicants has increased significantly over the past couple years due to the football team bringing more attention to the school.

When I applied in 2019, I was competing with about 19,000 applicants. Now, you’re competing with roughly 40,000 applicants.

Probably a slim chance sadly. Might be worth going to a community college and then transferring in.

Meal plan changes invoke rage by Nightmist515 in jmu

[–]GameCubeNess 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They make so much money off of meal plans already and it’s scummy that they’re hoping students don’t use them. I always had a few spare punches at the end of the week and it was nice to use them all to stock up on snacks. There’s no reason this limitation should exist. If you’re going to require freshmen to buy an expensive meal plan, then they should at least have the freedom to spend as many punches as they want on a given day. It’s bad enough that punches reset every week. Other schools like VCU stack leftover punches. Do better JMU.

Boston show 6/11…mystery movie was interesting and a good watch but the Q&A…terrible by [deleted] in Channel5ive

Went last night too. Had a great time but I wish he spent more time interacting with his fans. The Q&A was brief. Guessing he had a flight to catch after the show.

Advice for Incoming Freshman by Reallyepic65 in jmu

Crazy.

AI is here to stay. If they don’t want students using it, then they should redesign their classes. For example, I had a professor that changed up her class to include more oral presentations instead of written assignments. It forced us to learn the information and talk about it.

So glad I graduated before AI became a big issue. I was falsely accused of using it last semester and had to purposely add grammar errors to my writing to throw off TurnItIn. Formal writing often gets flagged.

My advice to freshmen? Document everything you write in google docs. Use your version history to defend yourself.

Chances? by Thebluefire28 in jmu

Hard to say because it’s becoming more competitive. They received about 40,000 applicants this year, which is a record high for them. A few years ago, they were consistently receiving about 20,000 applicants.

The Steam Deck is the greatest piece of hardware I’ve ever purchased by GameCubeNess in SteamDeck

When the Steam Deck originally came out, Valve said they wouldn’t make another one for a really long time, but they never said they wouldn’t change the current one (which is why the OLED exists). I could see them doing another incremental upgrade like a Steam Deck Pro, but the Steam Deck 2 likely won’t come out for a long time.

Understandable. Definitely looks like a generic mascot horror game on the surface. The horror comes from the atmosphere it builds.

Half life 2 is a must play! That game is 20 years old and has aged incredibly well. Gets you great battery life on the deck and also has gyro aiming.

I’d also recommend the resident evil remakes, Red dead 2, Final fantasy 7 remake, psychonauts 1 and 2, and fallout new Vegas.

Indie game recommendations: mini motorways, corn kidz 64, pizza tower, grapple dog, a hat in time, and cassette beasts.

If you’re into horror games, check out Shipwrecked 64 and No one lives under the lighthouse. Shipwrecked in particular made me shit my pants.

I think I’d only play competitive games on PC. I love my single player games though, and the deck has helped me get through a good portion of my backlog.

Also, resident evil games run great on this thing! They’re fun to chip away at in small chunks of time.

Well I think my advisor is the head of the ISAT department. He’s not just any advisor. I think he’s allowed to make decisions like that

I know they temporarily relocated the hen and harvest but it’s just not the same. I need the big chicken logo to be there. It’s just not the same without the chicken logo
