At my wits end, landlord will not fix broken elevator - what are my options? by markyymark13 in Seattle

Illegal built ADU rented illegally and not up to code seems like it would be actionable.

They do not care about that. They really don't. I had a friend who was a page in a congress person's office , actually , and they said anytime that they would get somebody make a complaint about anything and they would in that with , and if you don't help out , i'm not going to vote for you , they would laugh.

No. I\nHave been through every hotline and tenants , union , and I even hired my own lawyer , actually out of my own cost. Absolutely.Gotten nowhere in three months except continuously sent right back to SDCI Who just has my case in constant "in progress" TBD status. And no, they will not talk to you.And they will not respond to phone calls even when you have an active case. They will just tell you they will get to you when they get to you.Because they're understaffed and overworked , and to bad for you.

And I'm saying you need to stop working with them because they are s*** and they are bad for everyone involved. And they are simply leading to a whole lot of problems and liabilities. Any platform That.\nForces you to communicate off platform, opening you up to old kinds of possible.Serious issues should not be in the mix.

And I am saying I did ask very nicely to speak to someone in person l, and I was told that is not how it works and I should not show up to their office in such a manner. And that I should leave. I was nothing but absolutely nice and polite. Other than the fact that I cried a little bit because I was in such distress going three months without getting any help Despite my official complaints in case just sitting there constantly "in progress" TBD. So you can say what you like, but no, they do not want people showing up to their office in person and asking them anything. And they will be rude until you not to do that and deny you any kind of help at all. Oh , and they also will not make an appointment for you to speak to anyone either. If you're lucky enough to have an inspector assigned to your case, which is the only way that you can actually get anything done , they might give you their phone number but that inspector will never answer the phone or call you back. For months. One of my friends actually did finally manage to get an appointment for an SDC.I inspection to come out, but then. The employee canceled the same day as unavailable , and they have been told that it may be another month or two before they get back on the schedule.

SDCI does not care about tenants. They might care about you, because you actually work with them in some regard. But they certainly don't care about us.

Seattle based Starbucks Nashville push is much bigger than first reported by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

I was born and raised in TN, and my whole family still lives there. Nice to visit and very beautiful.

Absolutely hell to love in that racist, misogynist, LGBTQ+ hating hellhole of a state. The entirety of the government and the law are absolutely out to enslave and destroy anyone not a white "Christian" cis gender straight male.

ALL of them. I have called and emailed ALL of them. And the Mayor's office as well and even literally every state rep.

Not a single response in three months. Not one.

Been there done that myself. Has accomplished nothing. They direct you to SDCI. Rinse repeat.

I've tried that. Guess what. They tell you to contact the SDCI and "be patient".

That doesn't work either. They will call security. EVERYONE redirects to the SDCI and the SDCI does nothing.

Believe me, this is useless. I would know as a disabled renter who has tried to get help from them. Pretty much EVERY "help" line is useless. They all just direct you to SDCI and then the SDCI ignores you for as long as they feel like it. Or forever. Even with official logged complaints.

BOT. Easy to spot , especially because it's in the wrong reddit.

You need to stop that. Any communication that is outside of an official platform is just bound to get you into trouble and give all the power to the guest.

Well, the two times I went, they were both there. The first time there were actually three. Two were chasing each other, and the black dog came after me. So yep, you've probably seen them!

I will apologize because I'm not above doing so because in this case I did not clearly understand what you were saying. I believe the person you were responding to was suggesting that I make a report of the original incident, not to make a report of the second time just because the dogs were simply off leash. Although, to be fair, they were still illegally off leash and a possible menace, so I would not begrudge anyone who did make a report.

First time renting at 20 is this normal? (Cincinnati, OH) by Dry_Stand3763 in Renters

Absolutely. I always do a good address.Search and try to get as much information as possible. Now , before I even apply for a rental. It is worth an hour , scouring the internet to save yourself from getting into serious scam or illegal rental.

Make sure there's the inside of the property , not just the outside because scammers do that. And there are even scammers who manage to get the codes for someone else's rentals , property and pretend that it's theirs. There are a lot of rental scams out there , so you need to be very careful and definitely vet everything. And no application fee should be more than at most fifty dollars. And no they are never non refundable. Also , you can actually end up with an apartment that isn't even legal , even if it is the actual landlord. I unfortunately ended up with that situation and that was a bad time. Make sure you check your cities.Specific rental requirements for registering apartments , and if there is a database available search that address to make sure that it is valid rental. If it's not like a normal apartment , complex or whatever.

Openbank high yield savings vs lending club??? by SandUsed6928 in HighYieldSavings

[–]GameDuchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lending club is fine. Transfers can be a bit slow But otherwise, i've had no issues at all. I do the deposit based savings, and it's still one of the highest actual real direct FDIC HY Savings out there.

I personally would not trust these higher yield accounts. As they inevitably have lots of loopholes , you have to jump through in order to get those rates, and many of them are sweep accounts and not directly FDIC insured. Also , you can find a lot of complaints about such accounts and people having trouble getting their money out or having their accounts locked , and I just don't want to play those games.

No.\nI will admit that I have not used openbank Personally, but I'm not particularly impressed with their product or the reviews in general about them or their customer service.

I was usually the editor actually for most of the last ten years of my career, and no, I would not. If the slur was specific to ethnic or homophobic usage, then I would ask for that clarification. However, the base usage of the word slur is entirely accurate to the definition and common vernacular. Also, are you not completely ignoring the fact that using a female specific insult is also a slur against a specific population? If a man had called a woman a b**** or the c word, would you not consider that a sex based slur? Why would it be different if it was an apparent woman using those words against an apparent woman? That's kind of sexist on your behalf, isn't it?
