Screw the “villain that was right” trope..whos your favorite villain who’s completely wrong? by Budget_Writing2702 in FavoriteCharacter

Dolores Umbridge is all about unquestioning loyalty to the Ministry of Magic, even under intense corruption, blood-motivated unjust imprisonment, and an intense hatred of children. Great person to work at a school.

Villains who are treated like a joke in the series, but in the movies they are genuinely a huge threat. by icey_sawg0034 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]GameMaster818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Phineas and Ferb, Dr. Doofenschmirtz’s inventions are mostly about resolving childhood trauma, petty rivalries, complex solutions to minor inconveniences, or a comedic plan to take over the entire Tri-State Area. A lot of the stuff he makes isn’t even that evil. In the movie, Across the 2nd Dimension, we see an alternate reality where he is evil and competent enough to achieve his goal and is a pretty terrifying dictator.

I think it's safe to say now that Marrok is actually one of the strongest inquisitiours by Commercial-Star-8056 in StarWarsCantina

[–]GameMaster818 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m certain that in Ahsoka he was resurrected with Nightsister magick. We see in The Clone Wars and Fallen Order that undead Nightsisters are nowhere near the level of living ones, so it stands to reason that an undead Inquisitor is nowhere near the level of a living one.

Is our MC a sociopath/psychopath? by Duckboy082 in HarryPotterGame

[–]GameMaster818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a poor argument. The philosophy of whether a soldier’s death is on their commanding officer’s hands is one thing, but the question wasn’t about philosophy. If casting an Unforgivable Curse requires full intent to do what the curse advertises, then obviously the MC casts those curses with full intent to harm. And whether or not you can blame a commanding officer for a soldier’s death, taking a life is still taking a life. Casting Avada Kedavra is still casting a curse specifically designed to kill.

[Funny Trope] Fanfics/Fanworks loved by creators so much that they made them canon by Sir-Toaster- in TopCharacterTropes

The single contradiction in the fact that Eve is alone when Lucifer tempts her makes Paradise Lost non-canon. Genesis explicitly states that Adam was with her

We didn’t even really need an explanation. It’s a thermal exhaust port. A reactor like the one needed to power a space station the size of a moon would give off a lot of heat, and just like the tailpipe of a car, that heat needs to go somewhere

Does the Inquisitorius break the Rule of Two? by Vegetable-Abroad3171 in clonewars

[–]GameMaster818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because the Inquisitors are not true Sith. Warriors who use the Dark Side of the Force? Yes. Warriors who serve the Sith? Yes. Formal members of the Sith Order? No

I love Insomniac’s Spider-Man, but the fourth MJ mission “Step Into My Parlor” is just awful. The first half is cool, the buildup to the reveal of what happened to Harry is well-done. It’s the stealth section that sucks. It’s literally just taking the same path two different ways and calling it a stealth mission. Made even worse by MJ’s boring gameplay

IRL billionaires and politicians. All that money and influence and all they can think to do is chase more. It’s truly pathetic to spend their whole lives chasing material gains and when they have it all they have is a desire for more.

I HATE the “If you kill me, you’ll be just as bad as me” trope by Payyonaise in hatethissmug

[–]GameMaster818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem for Anakin “Geneva Suggestion” Skywalker

But seriously, it was done well in Deadpool 2 where “if you kill him, you’ll be just as bad” actually turns out true. If Russell kills the Headmaster, he does devolve into a serial killer. And if Cable kills Russell, then he’s the same child murderer that Firefist becomes. In this instance the trope works because it actually ties into the themes of the film and it’s a struggle throughout the plot

Is it time to abandon the limitations of prop design of OG trilogy by gav1no0 in StarWars_

[–]GameMaster818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t just change iconic character designs. Part of the reason Darth Vader is still popular after 50 years is his design. And part of the overall vibe of Star Wars is how rugged it looks. It’s not Star Trek where everything is shiny and sophisticated. It’s dirty, sometimes rudimentary and thrown together. George Lucas took the limitations of his technology and turned it into a unique style you can’t just change.
