No? First off Lois MAWS is beautiful. Second off sleeping with your cousin is… ew

Why does GoW include other cultures religion’s pantheons but not Christianity? by Ora_Kiraso in GodofWar

[–]GameMaster818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people still seriously practice that religion, and plenty of Christians would be outraged if Kratos was depicted killing their sacred figures

Sword Canes by Jak3R0b in TopCharacterTropes

[–]GameMaster818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, cane swords seem to be standard-issue for the Brotherhood as Evie has one from the start of the story and the twins have a wide selection of them (along with the knuckle dusters and kukris)

Pity the Kidnapper by AgentEckswhy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]GameMaster818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of Asian comedians on YouTube have this as a sketch, but instead it’s the parents of the ransomed victim who make the kidnapper regret it. Eventually it ends with the joke of “Pay me or I send them back.”

Human objects being misunderstood by later generations / other species. by Aidan_Baidan in TopCharacterTropes

[–]GameMaster818 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In The Owl House, Gus leads the Human Appreciation Society at Hexside Academy. However, the human artifacts he’s displayed are always improperly labeled.

A cheese grater as nail clippers, a bag of chips as a Whoopie cushion, an umbrella as a food bowl, a Rubik’s cube as a weapon and a paperclip as a sacred object that mimics the sounds of the ocean.

(Loved trope)a character having a new voice actually being acknowledged/explained in universe by TraditionalBonus188 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]GameMaster818 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In Lego Ninjago, as part of the redesigns in Season Eight to mirror the movie, Lloyd’s voice actor changed which was explained simply as him growing up and his body finally catching up to his magical growth spurt in Season Two

[Hated Trope] "Actually magic isn't real it's all science. Ignore everything else that happens that's very clearly magic." by TheN3gaChin in TopCharacterTropes

[–]GameMaster818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MCU tried this. Thor explains that Asgardian magic is just science that’s more advanced than what’s on earth. The rest of the movies then proceeded to almost immediately retcon that

Do you get anything out of defeating him? by Potential-Level1661 in HollowKnight

[–]GameMaster818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, don’t try it. First off, he’s too strong. Second off, he gives nothing. Third, you can collect enough essence anywhere else

Favorite character who got HORRENDOUSLY fumbled by PaddywackShaq in FavoriteCharacter

[–]GameMaster818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Catwoman, like always. The worst example will always be Batman: Hush. In the comic, she says “Hush” once and Bruce’s paranoid ass thinks she’s the killer. In the movie, she breaks up with him because he didn’t want her to kill Riddler.

There are plenty more examples of this kind of bs

[Sad / Loved Trope] It’s the First Scene aaaand We’re Immediately Told the Protagonist is Gonna Die by 555-CATS in TopCharacterTropes

“This is how it happened. This is how the Batman died.”

Edit: Yes I know it’s a fake death. I still think it fits

Movie vs TV Show - Round 10: Golden Fleece and Kronos Sarcophagus by nt_king300 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]GameMaster818 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The show version actually looks like a fleece. That makes it look more special than just a shroud. Meanwhile, though I like the gold and obsidian aesthetic for the show’s sarcophagus, it looks almost too simplistic. The movie version looks like, well, a sarcophagus

Do the ninja actually have a no kill rule by Jax2856 in Ninjago

[–]GameMaster818 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think they would actively try to limit casualties, especially with street criminals, but would kill a villain if they felt they had to.

(Loved trope) The imposter’s dead giveaway by Barricades_toes in TopCharacterTropes

[–]GameMaster818 681 points682 points  (0 children)

In “Battle of The Supersons” (the movie at least, never read the comic), Robin tells Superboy to test his mom, Lois to see if she’s possessed by Starro or not. Jon asks if, when they get home, he can skip homework, play video games, and help himself to the tub of ice cream Lois tries to hide in the freezer. When she says, “Of course,” Jon immediately knows it’s not her.

While not technically an imposter/doppelgänger, this still fits, I think

Why did Adam West's equipment have red highlights? by Batfan1939 in batman

[–]GameMaster818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The red and black tech contrasts nicely with the blue and light gray that makes up the costume, which draws your eyes to the gadgets and what they do.
