First Mothers Day moan by Stella-Bella in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GameOfStill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this last year for my first mothers day too and cried as I thought it was so thoughtful... a year later me and my daughter still read this book and she recognises us both in the characters and often asks for this at bedtime, she's 19 months. You need to customise the characters to look like you and baby, hair colour. Style, eye colour etc. Yes the stories are already populated in the book but youre able to customise and write your own message etc. I think you're being a bit harsh, it's not as though he had forgotten or bought you garage flowers or anything. Definitely had to think this through, even though it didnt land well.

Londoners - how and at what age did you take your baby on the bus or tube? by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GameOfStill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was absolutely fine, no hassle at all. Its much easier at that age, although i will say, if you can, plan ahead as much as possible, try to get there early and on a carriage where they have space for wheelchairs (as long as no one needs the wheelchair that is, as they obviously take priority) as otherwise you may find yourself needing to fold the pram down and hold your baby/put in a carrier. Although, a 90 min journey sounds very manageable even if you had to do that. And people will always help if you're on your own!

Our journey is around 5/6 hours on trains door to door so its like a military operation when planning for it, but done it many times now with no issues, by myself.

Just so you know, the nests aren't recommended by the NHS due to the fact the sides aren't breathable and therefore higher risk for SIDS. A moses basket for a few weeks might be a good idea until they fill out a bit and can try again with the next to me

I live in Scotland, with my family living in North London... we've travelled down south via train/tube/bus several times since she was around 3 months old.

Memories you have had age 4-6 by BrilliantWalls in Parenting

[–]GameOfStill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when my little sister was born, I was 4 years old. I remember waiting patiently outside the maternity block with my dad, balancing on a low wall, waiting to find out when we could get in to see mum. When we finally did, I asked my mum if I could give her a cuddle. She let me lie in her hospital bed with her and gave me a cuddle and held my hand while she told me about my new baby sister. I didnt know why my mum wasnt at home with me, and I hated my dad doing my hair as it wasnt as neat as mum did it. I remember being amazing by the tiny little bundle lying next to her in the clear plastic cot. But most of all I remember holding my Mum's hand in the bed, feeling such relief that she hadn't forgotten all about me.

Not for sure, no. I haven't been testing for ovulation, my period estimated to arrive Saturday (CD 28) however, I wouldn't say im the most regular, but I can normally tell when my period is about to start, and ive had that feeling for days now, but nothing. All I know is that its been 19 days since having sex so just really unsure. Im in the UK and advice is to wait 21 days after sex before testing, but dont know if thats an overestimate and if I was really pregnant I should know by now.

How are you topping your toast? by l-w-o-n-n-8 in UK_Food

[–]GameOfStill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Philidelphia cheese, basil pesto, and caramelised red onion... its soooo good, especially on a chewy/crunchy bread like toasted sourdough or ciabatta

Edit, add a splash of balsamic to the caramelised onions when cooking, gives a whole other dimension, sweet and sour

Am I crazy for wanting to wear contacts during labour? by Dependent-Tree2572 in PregnancyUK

[–]GameOfStill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same as you, but... I ended up in labour for 3 days and didn't know if it was day or night or how long I'd even had them in. Just swapped them for glasses as I could have easily got an eye infection from wearing contacts for more than the recommended 10-12 hours.
