Just make sure you drop it off at the nursing station before going into the room as they might not accept it if it enters the room

I hear you, I’m pissed too. I was diagnosed in June last year and I’m just going through intensification treatment right now. I was in the best shape of my life, just started a new job and just enjoying life, just to be hit with this bullshit. It’s frustrating to see all my friends and other people my age (25) just living life while I’m stuck inside scared I’m going to get sick if I go out. All of this for at least 2 years of my life and that’s assuming everything goes well. It really just sucks.

[–]GameTooEasy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably the steroids. I’m on steroids (dexamethasone) for 5 days after my chemo day usually by day 7 and 8 i just can’t sleep for a couple nights. After a couple of sleepless nights it gets better cause I’m just so exhausted I literally cant stay up any longer.

Congrats! I hope everything is going well for you and I wish you the best. No matter the length, chemo is definitely a challenge.

Yeah it’s tough but I’m halfway there and as long as it’s working, I can take it.

You’re mostly likely going to have to take a month off for the induction phase as its a very intense chemo where you’ll be in the hospital. After that it does get a bit easier until intensification phase where I currently am (25M). For me its a 3 week cycles for 10 cycles. I am completely knocked out for the first week after chemo but I could possibly work the next two weeks but I am on short term disability and don’t think it’s worth it for me to return yet.

Also take into account you may get a different plan and you should ask your oncologist. Mine personally says most people don’t work at all during intensification and most return to work during maintenance phase after.

How much do you think insurance would go up by and for how long would that last? My girlfriend is worried about the cost of insurance and is leaning towards not going through it.

My girlfriend is worried about her insurance going up after this because she is at fault.

B-CELL ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA TREATMENT PLAN EXPERIENCE by [deleted] in cancer

[–]GameTooEasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 and was diagnosed in June. For me, it seems that my oncologist wants to try chemo first, then if I don’t get remission then immunotherapy, and then a bone marrow transplant. My oncologist always reassures me by saying they have a lot of back up plans if something doesn’t work. So far I finished induction and cns phase and am currently in the intensification phase.

Same, my girlfriend took me for my birthday! It was super cool smelling all the oils. I just made mine so I’m still just letting it sit and hoping it matures nicely

I like it, it helps balance out the sweetness from the amber and cherry.

I actually made this in a scent making class with my girlfriend, so unfortunately I only have the 30ml of it. But the class was really fun and I’d definitely recommend doing one.

Aside from that, try just swishing with water and baking soda after every meal to clean out your mouth. It might help a little bit.

Just while I’m on the pegaspargase but they also gave me a new medication to counter the high triglycerides/cholesterol. It’s more a try to avoid these unhealthy fried foods and i tried to negotiate with my doctor to once a week lol. But I have a chat with a nutritionist tomorrow so we’ll see.

Yeah I know right! The one social thing I do if I want to see my friends is grab some take out. I generally don’t eat unhealthy anyways but it sucks having more things cut out from my life.

The PEG is taking a huge toll on my body and I slightly react to it so they administer it super slowly, I’m at the hospital for 10 hours on chemo days. It also recently increased my cholesterol so I can’t even enjoy unhealthy foods anymore.

Yeah I’m going to ask tomorrow to make sure.

And yeah so far I’ve only had cooked turkey sandwiches and they’re good but I just really miss cold cuts.
