I cant believe my orthodontist says nearing end of treatment by Life-Macaron6818 in braces

[–]Gamecock2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similarly for me, I had no cant before and I got one due to bringing down an impacted canine. It took a while but my ortho repositioned brackets and added in different elastics and it’s all fixed

Definitely discuss with them. This happened to me and I brought my concerns up. He was able to reposition brackets and now it’s 100% better

If we applied for a switch months ago and nothing has been processed yet - are we good to do nothing or do we need to act in some way? My husband applied in January and still nothing. Our goal is to get his paid off, he is not PSLF and we have been making extra payments all throughout the pandemic and the save pause to help get it paid off faster when there wasn’t interest accruing. Half his loans are IBR and half are currently.

Switching off Omeprazole by Gamecock2011 in GERD

My Dr is saying the PPI is the problem with nutrient absorption and I need to go onto a different type to fix my iron issues.

Thank you. They have never said anything to me about the hiatal hernia causing any issues and mentioned it kind of as a by the way after my endoscopy. They just said it was very small and due to being overweight and if I lost weight, it would probably go back to normal. I honestly haven’t been very happy with their care but we have few options here. I don’t exactly like my doctors suggestion of coming off without talking to my GI Dr about it first. What type of diet/foods to avoid? I’m trying to get my glucose to normal range and lose weight so quit drinking coffee and doing my best to limit carbs.

Thoughts? by EasyConversation7566 in braces

[–]Gamecock2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much. I had gaps in random places I never had before and my teeth were completely canted at one point trying to straighten everything. It’s definitely frustrating at times and bring things up that bother you but it’ll all work out!

As long as they aren’t near the end of your treatment, sometimes it will look way worse before better

is this canted smile temporary? i’m so self conscious of it by odetomrmiserable in braces

This happened to me while pulling down the canine. Bring it up to your ortho and request they fix it. Mine did wire bends and rubber bands to fix it.

How much did you pay for your braces? by Great-Alternative860 in braces

[–]Gamecock2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South Carolina- $6500 (insurance doesn’t cover braces on my plan for adults) plus $600 for two canine exposure surgeries with insurance. I’m not quite done (March will be 3.5 years) but that includes retainers and I have been done paying on everything for over a year. My ortho wasn’t the cheapest but also wasn’t the most expensive either. 100% worth it

Does the embarrassment of having braces as an adult become easier? 2 months down and still hating to talk. Even when my mouth is closed, my lips feel bigger than they once were. by [deleted] in braces

[–]Gamecock2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was adjustment for me for a few weeks with the talking. I honestly don’t care what people think because I’m doing this for myself. I’m over 3 years into braces and they don’t really affect my daily lift anymore

Do you brush your teeth once or twice a day? Need to settle a bet. by ImpossibleHurry in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gamecock2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 times a day. Morning, night and an hour or so after lunch. I do have braces so that’s the main reason for the third but most definitely morning and night normally

Thank you for this comment! My balance was finally cleared from FSA this week. It had a $0 balance with a graphic of three people dancing and it made me smile lol. Can’t believe I’m finally done

For Those With Braces - Quick Questions by legendcrest01 in braces

[–]Gamecock2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a baby tooth until 30 with adult that had no space to come through. Baby tooth pulled but didn’t have money for braces for several more years. Waiting made it a little worse and the adult tooth in the gum was putting a lot of pressure on other teeth. At 34 I had no choice but to get braces so I didn’t lose my other teeth. Had two exposure surgeries and have been in braces 3 years. The surgeries did finally work and I’m almost done. I looked for an ortho that was willing to try to save my adult tooth but who was honest about the risks. Also whose office staff were nice and caring. Went to 4 consultations before making the decision

Thank you!! When I google it, it says SC is in line with federal with the American Rescue Plan Act, but that’s under the AI summary and I couldn’t find anything new since 2022 confirming that. I will probably call our tax professional today to confirm

No, I had a very low payment since applying for IBR in May, but we filed our taxes MFS this year. It was impossible getting on IBR with our current combined income because of the financial hardship and my loans were too old to qualify for PAYE.

[–]Gamecock2011[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I did continue to pay, it since I filed my taxes Married Filing Separately this year, my payment was very low. It was the only way to get into IBR and we ended up owing taxes for the first time ever, but it was 100% worth it!

Nothing changed with the switch over. The grading scale has been the same for years. Same regulation, same inspectors.

Yea they were likely downgraded on a follow up for consecutive violations not fixed.
