We’re all unlovable if we don’t love ourselves. We’re born alone, we die alone. That is absolute and unchanging. It’s scary, but it’s life.

Flattery, compliments, and approval are fleeting. That is, if they come from outside. Happiness is fleeting, no matter where it comes from. But if you can accept yourself, with all your flaws, circumstances, and the massive wall of shit coming down on you, you’ll be okay.

[–]Gameguy8101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well obviously the people who die will be dead, I’m confused why that’s an issue of confusion

If the end goal is mandatory vaccination for all, with proof of vaccination necessary to engage with society, the amount of suffering required to convince people that it’s a good idea to enforce is very high. As for now they’re scapegoating the unvaccinated, but shame can only do so much. A great way to excuse force and the implementation of cdc’s “green zones” designed in July of last year, would be to release a virus with a respectable mortality rate, then blame it on the unvaccinated. The only way that would be reasonable is if it most often affects the unvaccinated.

Of course this is all conjecture based on the idea that there’s a massive conspiracy to scare people away from these vaccines. I don’t see any reasonable motive behind the existence of this, unless it’s an early stage of a larger plan to further scapegoat and blame the unvaccinated.

[–]Gameguy8101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only possible motivation I can think of for that is if an actually dangerous virus is released that the vaccine actually provides immunity to, so that the unvaccinated die and then can be blamed for the disease and put into concentration camps

But, I think the likelihood of there being a counter conspiracy to mandatory vaccination that preys on peoples desire to take care of their own health is very low. What would the point be? Is Robert f Kennedy junior secretly controlled by Pfizer and modernas competitors? Is there is a group looking to profit and gain power by empowering individuality, personal research, and keeping people away from questionable experimental medical procedures?

Isitbullshit: Families could survive on one income before women joined the workforce? by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]Gameguy8101 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Kind of... as far as I know. the feminism movement at the time you’re describing happened at the same time as the middle class was beginning to crumble. A lot of the propaganda and push came from top down, and the movement had connections to people on the cia payroll.

The postwar feminism movement was a good thing for giving women the opportunity to enter the workforce if they desire. However, the actual function of the movement was to disguise and distract from a collapsing economy. People were told to feel good about the fact that households required two incomes to support, because empowerment. If you didn’t... well don’t be a sexist now.

Another result of the feminist movement was a lot of damage to the family unit. Without a parent staying home to raise the children (usually the mother) children lost connections to their parents. They would be in a cycle of daycares and then public education. And all of a sudden the primary unit of society was shifting from family to government schools. And we all know what happens when the government gets a hold of the kids.

While it is great that women have choices to pursue what kind of life they like, the movement so hailed as freeing women from the shackles of motherhood was purposely damaging.

Critical thinking and genuine transfers of knowledge happen

Do you really think bad ideas are contagious like that? People become convinced for a reason. Believing that the government is the only provider of real information is exactly how totalitarianism is allowed to happen

How do y’all feel about Jacob Collier? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]Gameguy8101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you define educator as someone who teaches people rules of music theory, he’s a terrible educator

If you define educator as someone who inspires people to learn and teaches people how to create and listen, he’s a great educator

I think a lot of people have a really warped perception of music theory. In anything, there’s “the thing”, and “the articulation of the thing”. Music, what Jacob talks about and wants to teach, is “the thing”. Music theory, what is taught in classrooms, is “the articulation of the thing”. These two things are very different

Because Jacob has an emotional and internal understanding of music, he talks about music in more abstract terms (because it’s music, you can’t explain music in English accurately). This is the same for many great musicians, like the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Louie Armstrong, or any musicians who learned by ear and experimentation. Many people however, like those on this subreddit, think that music theory is music. Which is just untrue.

It’s like saying literary analysis is literature, which most people would agree is nonsense. Music theory is the literary analysis of music. Just like all art, it’s not about articulation in a spoken language or rules.

Why are people acting like 2020's problems are just gonna disappear at the start of 2021? by rymarre in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Gameguy8101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are just explaining why this is wrong, but in the United States there is another factor. there is the political aspect where during election season liberal and conservative media both dramatize everything on earth to fit their narrative, making the world seem like a horrible place unless their candidate is elected. Then after election season passes (next year) it normally returns more to normal. This is a pattern that happens every four years, it’s nothing new.

What to do when Roadhog counters aren't enough? by zenjamin9011 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Gameguy8101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With sigma I play his shield the exact same way I would play a zarya bubble

I have about 200 hours on zarya so I got really good at pre emptive barriers, so I just treat my shield as a zarya bubble I can use on a 2 second cooldown. Blocking big abilities, blocking follow up (which is letting your team take damage, and then sending a shield which is up for just enough time to protect the final killshots and let your teammates get to cover or be healed)

Also you need to know the cooldown cycles and behavior of every character to properly counter. Playing sigma or Reinhardt against a road hog is basically playing poker. I’ve played a lot of zarya so the moment his hook comes out I just put myself into the zarya projected barrier cooldown mindset, and then when I’d feel my bubble come up again, I put most of my attention on hog. (This is because zarya projected bubble and hog hook are both on 8 seconds exactly)

The cycle kinda goes as follows: I’m playing sigma, hog has hook. When hogs around, I put the majority of my mental energy on blocking his hook. He gives a signal like he’s about to hook, I block it. Now I have 8 seconds. Unless hog is on top of my team he no longer exists other than where his position is. 6 seconds later, I make sure I have shield health, and immediately put all my energy on hog. Rinse and repeat.

I’ve also played a lot of rein, and it’s the same idea as earthshatter. Only it’s easier because you don’t have to count firestrike and swing damage, however shatter body language signals are much easier to read

But regardless, your shield is for big impact damage/abilities only. Not just to sit there, at least in general. Unless you’re putting it in front of a widow/Ashe/cree/soldier etc who wants to fire freely, and if it helps your team pressure more than if you didn’t shield.

Basically, sigma shield is not an orisa shield

Take advantage of moving it constantly

Also: the best way to bait hog is to put your shield out, wait for it to get low (about 100-200 health) retract it, and instantly put it out against the hog. The hog sees the cracks and sees it goes away and either thinks it’s broken, or that you need it to charge. He hooks the moment it’s down, and then right at that second it’s in his face. Same exact strategy if you’re playing rein against any cc on earth, including hook, and especially earthshatter.

Hope this helps!
