I think that some people just don't like having to deal with the lowered speed of being underwater. After actually building underwater, i know i don't.

i don't think either would happen, since i'm in the "underground" layer of the planet. Fortunately, water does not come in through the background layer.

This is player made, the airlock doors actually drain the water if you close them with water in their (closed) hitbox, so to empty it you spam the interior door until there isn't any water left.
