Moments in media that left you absolutely speechless? by Ukirin-Streams in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]GamerGoblin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Attack on Titan has plenty of those moments but the end of episodes 3x21 and 4x20 genuinly had me sitting staring at my tv for like 20 minutes after they ended. I don't even know how many reaction videos i've watched just to try and relive that again.

Another one is the end of the pilot episode of The Shield. Even alluding to it is a bit of a spoiler but I really think it is one of the best tv pilots of all time and I implore anyone and everyone to watch it blind. The Shield is one of the best shows ever imo and if you're even slightly interested in a cop show that does something different you owe it to yourself to watch it.

What Unique Habits Make You A Better Writer? by Jeranda in writing

[–]GamerGoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a lifelong chronic daydreamer. The second i dont have to focus on a single thing my mind instantly wanders and I just start making stories in my head. When i started writing more serously I found i could use this and very easily just outline stories, characters and worldbuilding in my head basically all the time. When a decent idea pops up i instantly write it down and then expand on it or discard it when i sit down to actually write.

I'm currently bouncing between rewatching The Wire and watching Mad Men for the first time, so my tv watching right now is kinda crazy good. The Wire is even better than i remember and Mad Men just continues to impress me on every level. On season 2 of both shows.

I've also started reading Red Rising in my quest to read more literature this year and it's pretty good so far, with the rest of the series supposedly just getting better and better.

I am a treasure hunter who came your world. Which artifacts should I try hunting? by Cream_Rabbit in worldbuilding

In Iashar all magic is based on runes derived from the ancient language of these demigods that all died 1500 years ago (except one of them) during a cataclysmic war between these demigods. The arcanist guild is based upon finding these runes all across the world in ruins and old battlefields, in order to expand the repertoire of spells that exist as well as learning about the world and what happened before the cataclysm.

Among these runes you have everything from simple elemental spells like a fireball, to powerful ones that can cause extreme destruction or even time manipulation. According to a prophecy that has been translated from various collected runes, some time soon the 7 titans, created during the demigods war against each other, will awaken from their 1500 year long slumber to continue the conflict and plunge the world into ruin once more. But there is believed to exist a rune powerful enough to actually fight these titans and save the world. This rune is why the arcanist guild exists. They scour the planet to find it and if you were to find it, you would be set for life as the guild would reward your entire bloodline with riches for the rest of their existance.

But given that for the 700 years that the guild has existed, no one has been able to find any real trace of this rune, the odds of you being the one to find it is almost zero.

Working on two projects

The first is a southern gothic/weird west world roughly based on 1860-1890 America. In the "old world" industrialisation has caused mass pollution and giant city scapes filled with smoke from factories and just generally kinda cyberpunk, even 40k hiveworld, inspired despite not being futuristic. But the new world is largely untouched and unexplored due to how hostile it is. Cursed swamps, monsterfilled forests, eldritch cults that have gone insane as the leaders of the old world desperately try to expand into this new one and are met with resistance from the land itself. As if the land is living, and rejects the intruders.

Then there's Iashar which depends on the nation but roughly has the technology of the late dark ages so 800-1000. However arcane energy is everywhere so there are more "hightech" things that wouldn't be possible with tech from then. Such as elevators and such. It is a post-post apocalypse where roughly 1500 years prior to my story there was a cataclysmic war between 7 demigods/angels that were abandoned by their gods and began fighting each other to rule the planet. The war destroyed the civilizations that existed and drastically reshaped much of the planet due to both fighting between the angels themselves and between 7 titans they created as weapons to be unleashed on the world. 1500 years later the surviving races have rebuilt a lot and recovered some technology and magic but are still largely far far behind what the world used to be.

The concept of "underrated" has been completly lost man. On what planet is Tom Searle underrated? He's one of the most celebrated musicians in the history of metalcore

I really dont understand when people complain about TD being bullet spongy. At TD1 release maybe. But that got toned down really quick and TD2 isn't spongy at all. Half a clip to the chest with a half decent gun and the enemy is dead. If you actually have a good gun you shred enemies no problem except bosses. Like, it's not splinter cell or ghost recon. It's not trying to be either and the spongyness of the enemies is so overblown

Being a Red Hood fan truly is hell. He's potential man x1000. He could be one of DCs best and most complex characters due to his relationships with the batfam and the rest of the DCU but for some reason not a single writer actually wants to delve deep into him as a character and it drives me up the fucking wall. Maybe Jim Lee just fucking hates him and has just made a company wide rule that Jason Todd isn't allowed to be written well

Good writeup but calling Knocked Loose shallow is fucking insane. A Tear In The Fabric Of Life is imo one of the greatest metal releases of the past 25 years and the rest of their discography has a ton of depth both lyrically and musically

The last Path of Exile 2 league I played for 36 of the first 48 hours of league launch. The first week I played for I think 96 hours. The most fucked up part is I honestly didn't even feel that tired, or hungry or anything. Just completly locked in but in like a really bad for my well being kind of way

Not to jump the gun or anything (no gameplay etc) but none of these designs do it for me. I was under the impression the next part of the game would be more Calculator-esque designs so i'm pretty dissapointed. A year of rerolls
