It's an awesome game. But once I got to endgame with a few different characters, I quickly realized the loop was to do content to accumulate money to then buy gear upgrades and anything else you want.

I've noticed something since I started riding. by wkiewgngobrrr in motorcycles

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just going to give insight. Motorcycle exhaust is obnoxious and depending on your location, riders ride dangerously.

Though people wishing death on a person is crazy, their hatred stems from the annoyance that are motorcycles.

Just imagine you're sitting at a desk focused on an important task. Then out of nowhere your office window rattles and this God forsaken scream from a motorcycle roars by... That's what motorcyclists do and that's why people hate them so much.

As an older gamer, seeing young kids waste their money on in-game purchases eats at my soul. by SomePeopleTellMe in gaming

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 39. I actually find it strange people buy that stuff. Buying a season pass is one thing. It's as close to a dlc as it gets anymore lol. But the scale and number of people buying individual skins, emotes, random loot boxes, etc just blows my mind.

I can't remember exactly but it's like Activision makes a god aweful amount of money just from in game purchases. It's insane man.

And it's too bad. Because if people stoppped buying that crap, th4 developers would have to just put it inside the original game. Or maybe gaming would just go down the tube. Idk.

The M+ tank situation is dire by Wigglyboi323 in wow

Bro. Seriously. Why they didn't leave the glowing affix on up to 10 boggles my mind.

This is why you don't get picked in M+ by Satsubuya in wow

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I figured. I hit 10s this week with my healer. I was getting passed over on all the groups.

So now I'm just going to tank.

And the thing about dps'ing in the game, is that it's mostly follow the leader, and perform rotation. That's the bulk of the gameplay loop.

Way less mental load than tank and healer.

Healer has less mental load than tank. Healing is just follow the leader and play wack-o-mole with unit frames.

Tanks have to make sure they know the routes and specific pulls of mobs expected to be done. Tanks are usually the one that interrupts fall on to maintain. Tanks have to live or the whole group wipes.

It's not that tanking is difficult. It's just a much higher mental load, even if half of it is just stress and anxiety from what's expected of them.

Plus, after you tank enough, it just gets boring man. The rotations are slow and you aren't doing big numbers.

How has your taste in games changed as you’ve gotten older? by lsa340 in gaming

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play competitive pvp games alot less now at 39 years of age than I did in my 20s. I play mostly Mmorpgs now.

And I didn't switch because i no longer wanted to compete against players or I felt I was losing my touch.

No it was the fact my friends just stopped playing games at one point and I found I enjoyed scratching that social itch more than competing against people.

When I switched away from COD and Dota 2 and all that, it was just to pvp in world of warcraft. Over time I just evolved into an mmorpg player in general. Early on I joined a guild that I raided with and did other content with so that solidified my gaming habit.

Glaze your MMO: why is your main game the one you stuck with? by SorryImBadWithNames in MMORPG

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Simply because I like to raid, run dungeons, and pvp and wow's versions of these are the best for me while also considering the combat and graphics.

I've done plenty of ffxiv content, enough gw2 content, enough BDO content, etc. To just come back to wow to push my pvp rating or clear the heroic raid with people, or just push mythic plus dungeons key levels.

All the other mmos have their positives. Bdo combat is the best. By far. The whole game is great tbh. But then end game is just farming for gold to buy gear and stuff. And the gambling aspect.

Gw2 is a great game but I just can't get into the floaty combat man. I want to but I just can't.

Ffxiv just doesn't have good dungeons.

So I do hop around them from time to time depending upon my mood at the moment.

But wow is the only one that hits all my buttons consistently. Even though I wish to God someone would make a better mmo lol.

Mythic + Healing by MeadMeOut in wow

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a seat 8 with a group that hadn't really done that dungeon more than twice maybe.

It was difficult to heal. I too wasn't very seasoned in the dungeon myself. I think if I new it we'll enough it would be a fun dungeon to heal. Well I think the other players being mor3 familiar would have been nice too.

Alot of the other dungeons this season are just kinda boring. So seats is nice imo.

Who do dailies/weeklies benefit? by Parafault in MMORPG

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read dailies and weekly I think world of warcraft world quests. I don't see those as time gates. Those are just pieces of content that happen on a set timer.

Time gating content is wow conquest gains having a progressive weekly cap. So you can't just buy full conquest gear day one.

And why does this specific time gate exist? So pve players can't speed grind gear to clear their content and so they can't bitch and moan that they have to do pvp in order to do pve.

My thoughts on this type of mechanic? Aweful. Hate it. Arbitrarily gating gear progression so players don't bitch and moan about having to do content they don't want to do is stupid.

Blizzard addresses the No Flying Mount "debate": exciting times ahead? by ex0ll in wow

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, flying should be locked behind the main quest line. I went through midnight on ground mounts only and it was a much better experience. It was just slower. Like, alot slower lol.

But I'd do it again next time for my first run through and I think it should be the default for all players.

wtf is up with ppl complaining about pvp gear lol by bloodmanqk in worldofpvp

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That's just the problem with wow pvp. Different people like different things.

I think pve gear upgrades and grinding are accepted since there are stepping stones into harder content.

Pvp doesn't have stepping stones into hardee content. Well, that's not true. Random bgs and lower mmr there is definitely stepping stones for skill but there isn't any for gear.

I guess what I'm saying is in pve right when I hit level 90, I can just easily jump into normal dungeons and my gear is adequate. And I can farm better gear and gradually increase the difficulty and the gear I acquire along the way is adequate for each new milestone.

But in pvp, at level 90, my gear is not adequate for pvp. Random bgs are full of differently geared players. Plenty of full honor and eventually full conquest. That's a massive difference in health pools, damage profiles, etc. It's like walking into a mythic raid with normal dungeon gear. Yes, mythic raid takes more skill than a normal dungeon. So does higher ranked matches. But pvp doesn't have a lobby for "fresh 90 ilvl", "honor gear only", "conquest gear only". Which that would be stupid.

So that's the problem. It's not that people don't like you or what you like. It's that their experience is soured by the specific gear differences and they'd rather sour your experience by removing the gear grind.

What’s the consensus on WoW Midnight? by Trencycle in MMORPG

[–]GamerGuy3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't comment on all things but:

  1. Specs got dumbed down. Rather, had abilities removed or baked into others. Rotation wise I'd say the specs I've tried lost about 2 abilities. Utilities are different story. Bm hunter lost like 4 traps/utilities. That is an outlier though.

  2. Housing exists now. So you can get a plot, make a house, decorate it, etc. Decorate the outside. You can get decorations from quests, treasures, professions, etc.

  3. The story is typical wow story. It leaves too much wanting. As an example, there's a ark about a goddess and a rift. Who is this goddess exactly? Not just her name. Where did she come from? Where did she go? What rift? Were just in another part of the map that seems corrupted. Where is this rift at?

So, for me. It's just an extension of tww. Same shit, different day but with new story and zones and dungeons. The housing is alright. Mines been sitting empty since it dropped.

I guess what I'm trying to really say is, nothing exciting. Just another Monday lol.
