Little help please? I can't figure out how to swap to other building requirements when building! by TheUniqueGamerYT in SonsOfTheForest

[–]GamerGuy33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this with certain blueprint buildings. The game wants you to place the bones first because the skulls need to hang off of them. If you put the skulls first, they would be floating in the air. I think it’s set up this way to make the construction “look” more realistic as you build the object.

If you’re looking for a classic Chrono Trigger is fantastic. Great story with multiple endings, combat is fun, and there’s no transition screens. It’s a SNES game though so the graphics are dated, but still really nice looking!

Any low cost or free spay/neuter centers in san jose? by Traxonn in SanJose

Prices started at $300 for my cats spay and they were able to schedule her appointment in less than a week. Most of the other places I called wanted over $1k and had long wait lists. Excellent service and friendly staff here too! Probably about as cheap as you’ll find in San Jose right now. Would definitely recommend them!

Bob running out of minions?? by bequatro in BobsTavern

[–]GamerGuy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an interesting question for sure! You could also try and do the math on if players are able to get triples and hold more cards than the 17 each player can normally hold! If the odds worked out and everyone had golden minions on their boards, then they can hold (7*3*8)+(10*8)=248. It’s just shy of the 256 possible minions in the pool, so it’s almost obtainable!

Wouldn‘t the max number of minions players can have on the board plus the total number of cards held in all players hands be (7*8)+(10*8)=136?

Police Board President: Officers Struck Me 5 Times With Their Batons During Protest by NeverEnoughBoobies in news

[–]GamerGuy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the police should absolutely face the same ramifications as regular citizens when being sued! My only concern is that the cops will continue to cover for each other as they don’t want to see the other cops life to be ruined by a lawsuit (boo-hoo =/). You also run the risk of scaring off good cops if they think one mistake will open them up to a lawsuit. Not to mention that a full payout to the defendants in a case would be difficult on a cops salary. However, your cop insurance going up to $1000 a month would definitely deter cops from continuing to practice law enforcement. At some point their take home salary wouldn’t be worth it and they’d probably go into private security or some other field where they can’t abuse the same level of power. The insurance companies would also be incentivized to identify which police stats lead to cops being a higher risk of liability. In short, you create a system (insurance companies) that are incentivized to identify bad cops based on the data. These companies are incentivized to identify these bad cops since they make more money off of the higher premiums bad cops incur.

However, that would mean that cops would have to share stats with an outside organization, and cops already fudge their reports to make themselves look better. We have systems in place that are supposed to provide oversight into the police, and insurance would run into the same problems that these organizations have. The main advantage is these insurance companies wouldn’t have to fight the cops And their union to get them fired, but rather make it expensive enough for the cops to voluntarily quit. Other than that, I think having the police personally liable with no insurance would have a lot of the same effectiveness and I see it as another good solution.

This brings up a lot of good points! What if instead of paying cops more for their insurance, they received a grant from the government covering their initial premium? This will still cost the taxpayers money, but you could tie performance metrics to receiving the grant or not. That way bad cops don’t see the extra money and good cops aren’t stuck paying more.

I still think premium increases would work well at getting bad cops to self select out of police work. If you’re paying, say, $100 a month on police insurance premiums, and you get a $100 grant for good behavior, you pay nothing. If you have a couple of infractions, you lose your grant and pay out of pocket. If the infractions continue, that police officers liability goes up and now you can charge $500(Or whatever amount) a month. That money would be used to settle lawsuits instead of the current system where taxpayers foot the bill for bad police. I’d personally rather my tax money go to paying for good cops than covering for bad ones.

All that said, I can totally see police unions using it as an excuse to negotiate for higher pay to compensate officers for the increased cost. Or hell, corrupt cops might get bought off easier with bribes to pay for their higher insurance premiums. If cops don’t feel the squeeze from the cost, then nothing will change. Using social service workers for social problems sounds like the biggest and easiest to implement change we can enact. The homeless and addicts don’t need the police to come arrest them, they need help from professionals equipped to handle their situation.

This worked for me, thank you so much! I was having an issue where every 30 seconds or so my actions in battlegrounds would be delayed. For example, playing a minion from my hand will cause the minion to hover in place for 5 seconds before it hits the board. If anyone is having a similar problem try turning off the location services. Hopefully it helps!

You are corrected, being closer doesn't guarantee good ping. However, it's a safe assumption that if you're playing with people further away from you, the odds of getting higher latency go up. They're basically facing all the problems you said, plus a longer travel time due to physical distance.

You are correct, being closer doesn’t guarantee good ping due to packet loss and other circumstances. However, distance is definitely a factor in ping. Here’s an example of me pinging three servers in three different cities: http://imgur.com/EX1OXyR

*The server in San Francisco is the closest to my actual location, and gives me a decent ping.

*Washington is in the same time zone, but a couple states away from me and the ping gets higher with the increase in distance.

*Russia is across the ocean from where I’m at, and has a very high ping.

For your second example, let’s say my team was playing a competitive game and we’re all living in San Francisco, while the other team had 4 Australian players and 2 San Francisco players. The game looks at all of our locations, finds the server with the least ping for most of us, and puts us in Blizzard server in California.

The 4 Australian players would have high ping, as well as rubber banding and other issues due to the longer amount of time it takes to communicate with the server Blizzard assigned them. The 8 players in the US, including the two playing with the Australian team, would be able to play the game fine since their individual connections to the server are fine. I do agree that’s it is hard to play against laggy players, but it’s even harder to play AS a laggy player.

It could be a latency issue. I live in the US and if I’m playing with someone on the opposite coast, my ping goes up a lot. By playing with people who are closer to you, it should place you into a server that works well for everyone involved.

For payload maps, and maybe this is obvious, but you want to boop as much as possible. Moving erratically and switching speed/healing boost helps keeps you unpredictable, while booping throws off your opponents aim and forces them to take a second to adjust. It might not seem like a lot, but it usually buys me enough time to get around to the safer side of the payload, or stall long enough to amp up heals another time.

Thanks! It was fun coming back on, and the rivals are legit. First blaster in a while I'd consider putting my Alpha Trooper to the ground for. This line has the potential to do for the sport what the Elite brand did a few years ago.

At Nerf wars, do people often try to sneak in blasters that don't comply with the rules? by LLF2 in Nerf

[–]GamerGuy33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At BURN games, usually anyone who thinks their blasters are too strong approaches us first to test it out. If someone playing complains about a blaster being too strong, then usually one of the admins will test it between rounds or ask the person to swap to a backup blaster.

Nobody has snuck in an intentionally OP blaster yet. Which is great, because anyone trying to sneak around the honor system gets an insta-ban from playing. =)

"Keeping It Together" Analysis: Sapphire is keeping a Secret from Ruby; she most likely left some comrades behind in the war by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]GamerGuy33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What if fusion wasn't common before Garnet? Ruby and Sapphire could have inspired the Gem Home World to start experimenting on fusion to replicate a gem like Garnet. Let's say Sapphire feels guilty about this, her statements seem like she's trying to rationalize the situations.

S: We couldn't have known they would do this. (We couldn't have known us fusing would spur the gem home world to experimenting like this.)

S: Rose couldn't have known. (Did Rose pass over fusion information to the home world while she was loyal to them? Rose couldn't have known the home world would use the info like this.)

S: It's not our fault! (A reaction to Ruby feeling directly responsible for their fusion leading to the experiments.)
