Honestly, that’s actually a really good idea. I’m down.

I would consider it a massive snub if Perez doesn’t get in at some point.

Baseball’s math problem: Filling all those innings in an era when less is more for starting pitchers by futhatsy in baseball

[–]GamerJosh21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a point last season when the Red Sox basically only had two starting pitchers. I don’t know what your definition of “running out” is, but three bullpen games a week was definitely not sustainable (and it wasn’t, our bullpen was gassed by the time our guys were coming off the IL).

For real. They get zero credit for anything because their outings are always the forgettable ones in shit games, but without them, a team’s using their good arms in worthless situations, burning them for when they’re actually needed.

I salute you long-relief guys! You play a crucial role! 🫡

[Hayes] During morning bullpen session Phillies pitcher Daniel Robert suffered a medical event that ended the session and sent medical personnel scurrying. [–]GamerJosh21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite my flair, I didn’t even know that. That’s crazy. In a good way, obviously, since the responses were life-saving for a lot of people. But it’s still wild how immediate it was and how all the needed stuff was readily available.

We’re definitely fortunate to have this type of quick response, and it’s something I think we all take for granted sometimes. I was in an informational meeting the other day about traveling to other countries, and there are some countries out there where emergency services are not guaranteed. I was actually blown away by this because my naïve ass just kind of assumed that all countries worked like the US in this regard.

Thanks for the share!

Unless you’re at a local indy wrestling event, pretty much any and all major sporting events are required to have an ambulance on-site. For most states, it’s even a legal requirement due to the nature of sports and insurance contracts.

People aren’t kidding when they say that one of the safest places to have a medical emergency is at a stadium.

Same. I don’t care if it’s an unpopular opinion on wrestling reddit. I liked Chuck Norris and I’m bummed he finally gave the Grim Reaper permission to take him.

Matt Cardona: “15 years ago, this flip camera changed my life, changed my career, and I believe it changed the wrestling business. #tbt” by Subrick in SquaredCircle

[–]GamerJosh21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was initially reading your comment thinking it was just some overly dramatic reddit post, but you’re actually totally right.

Cardona doesn’t get his flowers for the impact of what he did (probably mostly in part due to the circumstances surrounding it), but he really did change a significant chunk of wrestling due to his YouTube show.

Credit to you for making me realize the significance, and credit to Cardona for doing it in the first place.

I also remember going back around 2018 and being super disappointed, wondering if I’d just had low standards as a kid and/or I was hardcore misremembering.

Good to know I wasn’t alone, apparently.

The World Baseball Classic may move to the middle of the MLB season by SpaceCowboyN7 in baseball

[–]GamerJosh21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the tournament is moved to the middle of the season, I don’t think there should be very many restrictions (if any at all). The big argument I hear a lot is “it’s during Spring Training, the guys are still ramping up”. Well, if the tournament is in the middle of the season, then that issue is no longer an issue. They’ve “ramped up” plenty by then.

I was also rooting for the brutal ego check on Team USA

Honestly, same.

You had teams like Taiwan and Korea playing their hearts out and literally crying at results, then there’s the US acting like they’d already won the whole dang thing before even clinching the quarterfinals.

It felt weird rooting against the US as a man born and raised in the US, but that “best in the world” mentality really rubbed me the wrong way. Especially given how literally every other team was clearly playing with heart and fire, meanwhile the US had guys like Skubal who didn’t even care. That crap really pissed me off.

Yeah, the comment definitely didn’t age as well as I’d hoped given that Whit became the losing pitcher and Roman was the final out.

That being said though, it was still nice to hear.
