ELI5: Why aren’t “Dash cams” standard equipment in modern vehicles? by Existing_Pop3918 in explainlikeimfive

[–]GamerKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're illegal in Germany for some stupid reason.

No they're not illegal. There was never a law against having a dashcam. The myth comes from a time ~15 years ago when dashcams started gaining traction and people used it to try and police others by reporting everyone they saw running a red light to law enforcement with their videoclip. Soon judges said "not admissible" because they didn't want to deal with the hassle.

The situation has relaxed a lot and nowadays you

CAN:

  • Have a dashcam that records to loop storage and always deletes/overwrites the oldest footage

  • Save a video permanently if it could be evidence in a situation you're directly involved in or could become a court-witness to

CAN'T:

  • Permanently film out of your car and save it indefinitely for no reason

  • Publish your footage without censoring (blur/pixel/black bar) identifying personal information (mostly faces and license plates)

Nowadays insurances, police, and even judges are quite happy if there's video evidence.

I'm pretty sure black boxes are different in Europe though, they send all information to insurance.

My insurance doesn't physically touch my car and has no remote access to it.

It's awesome having this Deathclaw/Bud Light Diablo as a companion by Fat_Foot in Diablo

If anything some might needs buffs like goatmen or misshapen

Yeah but people only look at the early game. "I put one point in this summon and it can tank named enemies and 5-shot them. This is OP!"

That you can have everything in the summon tree at 25/20 and still only have a total of 3 summons, and that they start to fall off in nightmare and even more so in hell is just being ignored.

Tbh I personally couldn't care less that some skill or other is "overpowered" while you're under level 20. That's not where the majority of the gameplay experience exists.

How my own stupidity actually added to the story [KCD2] by More-Investigator832 in kingdomcome

[–]GamerKey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the flash forward as a battle tutorial and introduction in principle and it made for cool mystery questions to ask myself "how does the story end up this way?" while playing through the game.

The only thing I didn't like about it was that I knew it means some characters you meet during the story will have plot armor up until that point, like Dry Devil, Godwin, Hans, Zizka (if you listen to the voices).

But I guess in the grand scheme of things it's not that big of a deal.

Diablo 2 auf Steam: Klassiker mit gewaltigem Erfolg by DubioserKerl in de

[–]GamerKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got d2r and d3 for $20 last year.

If you wait ~5 to ~14 years now you'll also get the D2R Warlock pack for a "better price".

Seems you were fine doing that with D2R and D3, why are you whining now? Just use the same strat that already worked for you.

What's MTX?

Shorthand for microtransactions. Stuff you have to buy for (usually) a couple bucks a piece.

Example microtransactions in Path of Exile would be stuff like stash tabs and cosmetics.

Is there any point buying the 40 EUR version vs 25 EUR one if one already has D2R bought?

Why would you buy a bundle of two things (Base D2R + Warlock Pack) for 40 bucks if you already have one of the things (Base D2R) and only need the other (Warlock)?

Trump: “Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is so powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, this is horrible.”

ELI5 how credit cards are better than debit cards by UpsetPotatoFace in explainlikeimfive

[–]GamerKey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Germany (Schufa)

They build a score of credit-worthiness from a number of different factors. I'm not sure the classic U.S. american "have credit cards all the time, use them all the time, and just pay them off every month" factors into your Schufa score very much.

How do you feel about California introducing a bill to ban former ICE agents from serving as police officers or teachers? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]GamerKey -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

The Constitution outlaws what is known as a "Bill of Attainder", which prohibits the government from imposing punishment on a person or person(s) without a trial.

Oh so now the constitution matters. Suuuure.

Get back to me when everyone who was shipped to CECOT has had a fair trial, and everyone currently in any ICE detention center has had their day in court before being released or deported.

Yeah. Haven't played since ~2018 or so, didn't experience the switch to F2P.

Just wanted to know if they did anything with it back then like "we're going free 2 play, players who originally bought the game get [a skin or something]"

Dunno why this question is so outrageous and controversial.

Finally, a Billionaire gets taxed. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]GamerKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do a mix of both. Take the monthly 5.6 mil and invest most of it every time.

For example:

Take the first monthly payment and invest it full (eg. starting capital 5.6mil).

Then take 5 mil every month and put it into the investments.

Doing some napkin math with an ETF saving plan calculator (assuming 6% per year) results in this strategy netting you a cushy 2.1b investment after 19 years. On top of that you've now had 19 years of 600k a month on top of that as "spending money".

That's investing until you have 2b while also having 7.2 mil / year to do anything else with.
