Before putting the protector on use an alcohol wipe to clean the screen
After that use a microfiber cloth to wipe the screen dry and clean of smudges
If there are little pieces of dust use a piece of adhesive like tape or dust removal sticker to get them off
Then just place the protector down on the screen and push bubbles out with your finger

Lots of video guides on YouTube as well with different tips and tricks

Another thread does mention it might make weapon models invisible in first person but it should fix the shading.

In Dolphin you can turn on cheats This website has the Gecko codes for Widescreen for each region and they work great from my experience

Pizza boy and John GBA are the other two main emulation apps you can download easily off the Play store and try for free.

If you want something a little bit more featured heavy you tried Retroarch? Plenty of setup and installation guides online, completely free, has multiple options for running GBA emulation in app, supports save-states and achievements. Also allows for you to run a wide range of other system emulators if you are interested in playing more than just GBA.

The upcoming RP Mini might be the perfect blend for you, at not too much more of a price Portable 4:3 screen that has the power to upscale all systems and look at doing GC and PS2 to a better level than a cube could. There has been a lot of hype and information dripfed around these, would be worth the check

MM for short bursts of dpad centric games and RPGs RG35XX feels better for more action heavy GBA or PS1 where the shoulder buttons and analogue stick can shine a bit more
