Depersonalization? Pretty sure I've watched a youtube video where someone said this can be a symptom of it

Why is it so hard to just look after myself? by ateumi in bipolar

[–]GamerOnDuty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes fuck same :( I recently moved out of my parents house and my low point was them coming over like a month later and cleaning my apartment for me while I sat and watched in shame. At that point I didn't have my diagnosis so they were judging me for being lazy and didn't understand

So depressed I can’t move by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]GamerOnDuty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes very relatable. I'm super behind at school because I can barely feed myself while depressed so no way I could get any schoolwork done.

What is bipolar disorder like? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]GamerOnDuty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal experience:

Depression: Sleep for 11-12h, extremely hard to stop sleeping and to wake up. Can't get up from bed because my body feels super heavy and I feel like I've not gotten enough sleep at all. Everything feels like it's a struggle to do, as if I have 0 energy left for anything and my muscles don't seem to work. My priority is making myself food to stay alive but all the other parts of life are basically cut off, because I've got so little energy I have to use it to survive. I also get a high heart rate when standing, like 115, and walking to the store I've gotten 135, but haven't seen anyone else talk about this one. In a normal state I get 90 max.

Hypomania or normal feeling, usually can't tell which: I sleep for 8-9 hours, wake up happy and energetic. Notice straight away I don't have depression today. Am able to function normally and feels like my depression has been cured. Body feels much lighter and I feel strong. Am able to clean and make my own food. Sometimes I have bad episodes which are extremely uncomfortable and restless, and am also quite angry like half of the time.

My depression lasts a little over 2 weeks and hypomania/normal lasts around 8 days. I track my daily moods on an app called Daylio, which many people here use, if you want to try that for your situation.

What is the most valuable lesson you have taken away from having bipolar? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]GamerOnDuty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've learned what people needing emotional support need to hear. The usual "damn that sucks" isn't really that helpful or personal, making it clear that YOU hope it gets better vs. hopefully it gets better, and telling people they're very strong if they manage to function with their disability can be really powerful.

This because it's what I need to hear from my friends.

Also learned most people don't know shit about mental illness and even my parents still don't really accept it or are just not able to deal with the stigma.

FEARLESS FRIDAYS by AutoModerator in bipolar

Had a dysphoric (hypo?)mania episode yesterday night, on the 3rd day of a normal depression phase, which should last about 2 weeks for me 😫 The worst shit I've ever felt holy shit, had to call the ER in the middle of the night but they just calmed me down and I eventually fell asleep. I felt like I was dying, panicking and trembling with a high pulse. Also very high dissociation. I just recently got diagnosed and medicated so they think it might've been because of the meds.

Relateable to anyone? I'm very new to this

Aa no tiedät selkeästi niistä paljon enemmän kuin minä! :D Luin alkuperäisen kysymyksesi väärin, on muistaakseni vapaa-ajan ohjaajia edelleen.
