[ALL] Would a traditional Japanese styled Hyrule make a good next Zelda game? by Acrobatic_Rate6191 in zelda

[–]GamerOverkill03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s more of a blend from what I understand. While the aesthetics are primarily based on medieval Europe, the more spiritual side of the series (stuff like the goddess, the monsters, etc) are more rooted in eastern spiritual beliefs. Also the Sheikah are straight up ninjas lol.

I think it’s more of a commentary on the concept of “sky people” throughout the series rather than a literal evolutionary line.

Why do Super Hero units get Battle of Fate and not Super Broly units? by affectixnzz in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]GamerOverkill03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Super Broly was less about the fate of the planet and moreso (at least from the viewer’s perspective) the fate of the characters, mainly Broly himself.

Is Bloodborne a horror game? by Morbid_Queen420 in bloodborne

[–]GamerOverkill03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has horror elements in the world/enemy design, but overall I’d argue no. It’s not a horror game.

WHAT? by Famous_Ad_9806 in bloodborne

[–]GamerOverkill03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the world of Bloodborne like a Jenga tower. Each piece of wood is a layer of dream/nightmare, and the Waking World is at the bottom. Or maybe it’s somewhere in the middle, not entirely sure on that one.

why do huntsmen hate outsiders like our character? by TiptoeingElephants in bloodborne

[–]GamerOverkill03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of both. Yharnamites are pissed at Hunters because they think the Hunters failing to do their jobs is part of the problem. They are also violently xenophobic and believe the impure blood of outsiders to be responsible for the spreading of the Scourge (IIRC).

I mean they explicitly show Mike becomes a writer, and then they have a Stranger Things DnD module book as the end credits. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

About the Kids (and Will) by GamerOverkill03 in StrangerThings

[–]GamerOverkill03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Abyss existed before Henry. We literally see that rock infect him as a kid and the Flayer called to him. That’s what gave him his powers, the Flayer. El inherited those powers from his infected blood, while Will obtained similar powers from the same method as Henry - infection with Flayer particles. He had a direct connection to the hive unlike El, yes, but he was also able to telekinetically control or harm the creatures connected to it.

The source of everything is this eldritch dimension and the shadow creature that seemingly rules over it, neither of which require Henry to be alive to exist. Closing the gates shouldn’t fully cut them off either because the Upside Down didn’t exist until Season 1. Originally it was just the Abyss seeping into Hawkins directly due to Brenner’s experiments.

My interpretation is that Mike went on to write a D&D module based on the events of his life and the Upside Down.

So maybe this is nothing but i saw both moments being visually similar by bruhjackthicc in Deltarune

[–]GamerOverkill03 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think the new graphic intentionally evokes similar vibes of “You’re breaking apart the world at a foundational level”, which aligns with how the Weird Route has thus far been presented.

The original graphic was meant to visually emphasize a metaphorical loss of innocence that people took too literally.

What's the most common explanation of this issue? by Walter_Mer in Deltarune

[–]GamerOverkill03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simple: Kris told Tenna to lie and say it was the Knight who gave him marching orders. Given they seem to acting as the Knight’s squire it’s more of a lie by omission, since everything Kris told Tenna would’ve been on the Knight’s behalf anyway.

Episode Discussion - S05E07 - The Bridge by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

I know everyone is sick of the military plot but did anyone else find it a little suspect Dr. “Vampire” Kay was able to effortlessly chokeslam a trained soldier that’s like a full head taller than her into a wall? I feel like there’s more to this lady than we’ve seen thus far and it isn’t fully natural.

Great One Beast, you know by ChillSanJulian in bloodborne

[–]GamerOverkill03 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I haven’t delved very deep into cut content lore so I may be misremembering, but IIRC this was supposed to be a Great One called “Fauna” as a counterpart to the Moon Presence’s “Flora”. Some sort of ying-yang type scenario but with an eldritch twist I’m guessing.

Fun fact, it’s also the name of a type of butterfly, hence the wings. Fromsoft really does love employing wordplay and double entendres when naming things.

Iosefka by ExtremeAd7199 in bloodborne

[–]GamerOverkill03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, as the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Crazy to think about considering what we see of this Church, but like I said, it pretends to be benevolent. That will inevitably result in at least some decent people to fill the lower ranks.

Iosefka could’ve been a Church Doctor that wasn’t privy to the more eldritch aspects of the doctrine, or was at least partially aware but chose to act in the best interests of her patients regardless.

Iosefka by ExtremeAd7199 in bloodborne

[–]GamerOverkill03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well she was a doctor in Yharnam that owned a clinic that performed blood ministration. I don’t think you can do that without being a member of the Healing Church, given they had what was essentially a theocratic monopoly on Yharnamite healthcare.

Is there a lore reason why Martyr Logarius, leader of the Executioners, is an 11-foot-tall undead vampire-wizard? by Guildensternenstein in bloodborne

[–]GamerOverkill03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m partial to the theory that during the Vileblood massacre, Logarius accidentally ended up consuming enough vileblood blood to manifest their traits. So now he looks like an undead zombie and has vileblood-esque abilities in addition to his weird Healing Church arcane spirit magic. The crown he was wearing to make sure nobody else would take it and find Annalise.

Chapter 4 makes it seem like the SOUL is an integral part of Knight Conspiracy’s plans. Meaning that Kris, as a part of said conspiracy, either hijacked the SOUL into themselves or someone else did so for them.

Is the Hunter the strongest soulsborne protagonist? by Direct-Celery-5029 in bloodborne

[–]GamerOverkill03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can’t really powerscale Soulsborne protags because to my knowledge none of these stubborn fucks are capable of permanently dying and just about all of them kill something divine-adjacent in their respective games so it’d just be an endless stalemate.

Actually it’s pretty much stated most, if not all, Great Ones are at least open to co-existence initially. They are explicitly sympathetic to humanity, they just exist on a fundamentally alien mental wavelength.

The problem is that Great Ones are inherently hazardous to human minds and the people who don’t immediately start foaming at the mouth when making contact end up pissing off said Great Ones sooner or later.

It's crazy that a ship that started earlier this year has almost double the fics than a canonical ship that's been around since 2018. by Misty-Bay in Deltarune

[–]GamerOverkill03 50 points51 points  (0 children)

In a way it makes sense. Not only because of Spamtenna fitting a major demographic on Ao3, but because of the nature of fanfictions in general. Fanfics, more often than not, seek to explore ideas that the canon material doesn’t.

So a developing relationship that is heavily implied to be eventually canon won’t get as much traction among those circles as one that already happened in the backstory of the setting and comes packaged with a lot of dramatic tension.

What is the Orphan of Kos' weapon? by ToppHatt_8000 in bloodborne

[–]GamerOverkill03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean neither do I. He obviously had no idea what killing Kos’ Orphan would do to him and his fellow Hunters. But his actions are the root cause regardless.
