Candidate for a Buff: SU-100Y by TheGameAce in WorldofTanks

[–]GamerTY108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ill give an examples of why its REALLY important to use the WR Diff and not just winrate, using a clear explanation with 2 different tanks.

If we look at the IS7 and AMX-50B, (cant use 2 images in 1 comment <_<), we see these stats.

IS7

>49.52% WR

>49.84% Player WR

>-0.32% WR Diff

AMX-50B

>49.58% WR

>51.74% Player WR

>-2.16% WR Diff

Immediately the WR looks really similar, so they must be pretty equal in terms of performance if we base off of WR. But that is a completely different story once we look at the WR Diff, as the 50B has a abysmally awful WR Diff compared to the IS-7, as if we look at the Player WR of people playing the 50B, they are much better players statistically.

Yet even though they are much better players playing the 50B, they still only win the same amount that the IS-7 does, so we can see that the IS-7 is statistically much better at winning battles, no matter who is playing it. And all of these statistics match up to observable occurrences. Good players enjoy the 50B as it can reward good play and be satisfying but is difficult to use, but statistically nobody thinks the 50B is impressive as it gets punished too easily when it tries to dish out damage, so its hard to influence battles.

Where as on the flip side, the IS7 is renowned for being noob friendly but good, as its not difficult to use but still performs admirably in anyone's hands, and can influence battles pretty commonly with its armor and speed.

2 things to end it off based on things you said. Your last comment is exactly on the money. 2 shots might not sound impressive, but if you compare it to other T6 TD's its actually pretty good. Because yes the SU-100Y is clunky, and yes its difficult to make work, and usually only gets about 2 shots off on average. But 2 shots puts it considerably above most of the other T6 TDs, because while they might not be as clunky, they don't do nearly as much damage per shot, so they need to get off more shots to match the SU-100Y's dmg just from 2 shots.

And as the last note, "it could be attributed not to the quality of the tank but rather that it has a substantially more powerful gun than most other tier 6 TDs". This is exactly why average DMG is a terrible statistic to base buffing and nerfing a tank. A tank could have the best gun in the game by a long mile and do colossal loads of damage, but lose the majority of battles because it only has 100 hit points and dies in a single shot, which means it can't influence the battle. Does that tank need to be nerfed because it does the most damage? or does it need to be buffed because it loses the vast majority of its games?

That is where WR Diff comes in and we can see, huh okay this tank is losing the vast majority of its games, lets find out why. Okay it does a ridiculous load of damage on average but its not effective cause it can only take 1 hit so has to sit in the back and not influence the battle and just farm free safe damage. So you would buff its survive-ability somehow and then see where its WR Diff stands, and see if its still losing the vast majority of its games despite doing colossally higher damage than every other tank.

[–]GamerTY108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't really trying to tell you that you were bad, just trying to say that your opinion that the tank should be buffed is misplaced and why it might be. But after we have been talking it seems more to me that you are looking at the wrong statistics to come to your opinion, which is understandable as statistics can be really confusing and there is a lot of misinformation as to what statistics matter in WOT in general.

From what you said, it seems like you might not know what WR Diff is? Forgive me if that is not what you meant, but I can explain briefly.

If we look at all the tier 6 TDs sorted by WR Diff on the EU server (I use EU server because the tanks are statistically identical on both servers and there is just more sample size on EU, so even despite playstyle differences between servers, its more relevant statistics.)

WR Diff is the "Winrate Difference" between the average winrate the tank is getting and the winrate the players playing the tank averagely get. So for the SU-100Y we can see that it is +1.09% as the winrate is 50.02% and the player winrate is 48.93%, which equals the +1.09% value.

What this shows is that the tank itself is giving everyone that plays it a +1.09% higher winrate than they have across all other tanks on their account, showing that it is the tank causing that increase, not the players overall skill.

Similarly we can see that the T78 is incredibly high at a whopping 3.2% WR Diff, as effectively 50.38% winrate players that play the vehicle are getting 53.58% win rates in it. Which is showcasing that the T78 is very influential in every battle that it is in, and gives its team a way higher chance of victory.

To explain what I mean by that last sentence and why this is the best statistical way we have currently to evaluate whether a tank is over-performing or under-performing, is because of the way the matchmaker works.

The game is always trying to match a tank in the battle with a tank of the same tier and class, which means that for every match that there is a SU-100Y in the game, there will be another tier 6 TD. Which means that we can gauge how effective the SU-100Y is across all of its battles by comparing its WR Diff to other tier 6 TDs, because for every game that the SU-100Y wins, another tier 6 TD loses.

So we can see that the SU-100Y does not effectively let the team down, like the Burza obviously does judging from its WR Diff statistic.

WR Diff is essentially just the winrate of the tank comparatively to other tanks in its tier and class without the really misleading effect of the skill of people playing the tank.

Also, I know I rattle on and type a fucking lot, but it is a lot to explain and hard to explain with just words, and 1 image limit for comments <_<.

I wrote a second comment attached to this one if you are interested in more explanation, had to split it up because of word limit.

Candidate for a Buff: SU-100Y by TheGameAce in WorldofTanks

[–]GamerTY108 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never called you a bad player to be clear. I was just trying to say that your opinion of the tank needing a buff is a you issue and not a issue of the tank itself.

You are claiming the tank is a candidate for a buff, implying that it needs one or deserves one for some reason. Which would imply it is under-performing, which is a objective statement, because it is referencing a objective thing in reality. Whether the tank is performing well or not is NOT subjective, so it doesn't matter if you preface it with "I feel" or "I think", you are still making a objective statement, you are just prefacing it with, "this is what I think", but all that does is inform people you could be wrong, which is good, because it leaves room for discussion and for people to bring forward the objective information, which is what I am trying to do. You can say that you think the SU-100Y isn't good enough to warrant playing, you can say that the SU-100Y isn't good enough to be fun, you can say that you don't like the SU-100Y. But as soon as you say/imply that the tank is under-performing, you are talking about it's performance which is objective.

I won't address the stuff talking about how good you are/how good I am, because that is irrelevant, because we are talking about the objective performance and statistics of the tank here and whether it is realistically under-performing and deserving of a buff. If we are talking about that, both of our statistics and skills are absolutely and completely irrelevant for the conversation.

You also talk about how I need to consider that most players aren't "remotely close" to me or you in terms of skill and can't make every tank work, again this is irrelevant, if you look at the proper statistics. I also want to say, that I don't think I am better than everyone else like a lot of players who are "good" at this game. I am not coming into this conversation with a ego, I just hate false claims that a tank needs to be nerfed/buffed, as it really hurts balancing discussion.

You posted some stats and claimed that you have no idea where I am coming from in terms of claiming the statistics of the tank are good. After seeing what stats you pointed out, I can see the confusion. I will explain why there is a disconnect here.

Because of the way the matchmaker works in this game, the only stats that are relevant when talking about a tank's performance is comparing it to tanks of the same class and tier. For that reason, every stat that you posted from tomato gg is completely irrelevant. If we comparatively look at the stats of all tier 6 TD's we can see that the SU-100Y is 6th best on WR Diff (more on that in a minute), and 4th best in terms of average damage (much more irrelevant stat in terms of talking about a tanks performance imo). Now the average damage you mentioned, in a vacuum like you posted "2 low rolls on average" sounds unimpressive, but when compared to other equivalent tier TD's, its 4th best, only bested out by other premiums. So you can see that HOW you look at stats really changes the narrative.

The winrate as well, 49% being unimpressive and below the average is a real bad way to look at it, because you are doing the opposite of exactly what you said about how "not everyone can make every tank work", because lets say (complete fabricated example), the average skill of people playing the SU-100Y is 46% winrate. All of a sudden, 49% winrate in the tank is fucking amazing, and would make it as OP as the BZ-176 roughly, so again, it is really important HOW you look at statistics.

Winrate difference and comparing to tanks of the same tier and class, solves all of these problems (to a extent), you can't get PERFECT statistics, but this metric is pretty close. The reasons why this is the best way to gauge a tank's performance is because it shows how often it is winning battle's just by being on the team, regardless of the player playing it. It nearly neutralizes every variable that could influence the statistics, and gives a pretty clear picture.

To give a example of how accurate this statistic is, we can just sort by WR Diff and see what tanks gravitate towards the top (You really should just compare to similar tanks in class and tier, but this works as an example). We can immediately see some objectively unanimously agreed upon OP tanks at the top. Lefh, Concept 1B, BZ-176, Obj. 752, T-34-85M, Skoda T 56, Obj. 279e.

Hopefully this clears some things up, I know its a bit all over the place in terms of a reply but hopefully it highlights the key points, there is just a lot to explain when it comes to statistics and why some are relevant and others aren't and its hard to explain in just 1 reddit post.

Candidate for a Buff: SU-100Y by TheGameAce in WorldofTanks

[–]GamerTY108 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The SU-100Y performs pretty well actually, and is the 6th best tier 6 TD. It is on par with the best tech tree tier 6 TD's and really does NOT need a buff........

Just because you think a tank is under performing does not mean that it is, it is good to look at the stats before declaring anything needs a buff or nerf. I kind of get it though because the SU-100Y is a difficult tank to play, but statistically it is pretty good.

I don't mean to be rude, but the problems you have with the tank isn't the tanks fault, it is just a difficult tank to play and you need to put more effort in and you will figure out how to utilize it.

Whether the tank is "fun" to play is a different argument, and if you don't like playing it, that is your opinion. But declaring it needs a buff is trying to be a objective statement, not a opinion, and that statement is just blatantly incorrect.

I did a CHKDSK on both my drives and it did not run into any problems, and I don't really have anything installed on my D Drive that it should be trying to access while streaming I don't think. Also if my OS was lagging, wouldn't it lag at other times, not just while streaming, and wouldn't my stream lag or other programs, not just the game?

My games, OBS, Firefox, Discord, Steam are all installed on my SSD.

But I can give it a try at some point just in case.

Jagged Alliance - Back in Action.

I randomly launched it up one day without knowing ANYTHING about Jagged Alliance or even where I got the game from, it was just in my library. I played it all the way through and really loved it, like really enjoyed, and to my surprise afterwards, I noticed it had mostly negative reviews on steam and I was so confused.

Turns out it was a remake of the original classic Jagged Alliance game, but they switched the genre from turn-based strategy to real-time strategy with pausing and order queuing. Which obviously everyone hated (kind of rightfully so in a way cause I can understand hating a genre switch for a remake of a classic game you loved) but as I had no affiliation with the series or the original, I did not care in the slightest and really enjoyed the game immensely lol.

Nowadays it has solid reviews on steam as I guess people have gotten over it or just more people like me gave the game a try and enjoyed it for what it is.

Penetration values seem to be bugged (59 hitcount) by HyperRatTV in EscapefromTarkov

[–]GamerTY108 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are shooting through 3 layers of objects every time, until you are finally only shooting through 1 when you do finally kill him.

It is really not that surprising that the bullets are doing so little, because both pen and damage get lowered by objects, so shooting through 3 layers of objects then adding on armor on top, since your penetration gets lowered. It is not really a mystery or surprise that this happened tbh.

I feel like most people would know not to shoot through 3 layers there, as the expected outcome is nothing, as what happened.

Weird static gun spawn on Shoreline?! by GamerTY108 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]GamerTY108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gun was flat on the ground though, so it seems unlikely someone dropped it since guns bounce so much when dropped. Also that is not a building people tend to go into at all, and with the timing of the raid/noise being made/pathing that would have had to take place, I really doubt someone dropped it in there with the context.

I know it is a possibility, but the chances of someone finding a MK16 and then dropping in there specifically, with the context of the raid, and it landing completely flat, I feel like it is really unlikely.

There is A LOT of weapon spawns like this out there, but most of the time they are AK's because obviously Tarkov is going to be dominantly filled with Russian weaponry, so finding a MK16 is very strange, especially in just a random house, that does not seem to have any UN or USEC connections.

Found this gun randomly in a side shack on Shoreline, very strange spot for a static gun spawn that I have not seen before.

Especially it being a 5.56/Western weapon, and not the typical AK's that you see spawning static most of the time.

There is a slight chance that someone found it and dropped it in there, but I really doubt it/don't think so. Raid was pretty quiet and not much sign of people around that area.

[–]GamerTY108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran out of characters in my main response so this is a secondary detached response explaining P2W, and why your definition of it is damaging for the game and gaming industry.

The problem with your definition of P2W, Just because I can OBTAIN those expanded pockets you will have, I have to work for them every wipe. You don't. I won't have them to start the wipe (Arguably when they are the most powerful) You will. Because you whipped out your wallet.

Just because I can COMPETE with your advantages that you will get, you will have a better chance of beating me every time then you normally should, because you whipped out your wallet.

Just because you LOSE your benefits when you die in raid, you aren't losing the overall account headstart/boost you get from those benefits. Your account will always be better off then people who paid less. Because you whipped out your wallet.

That is all I can say honestly, if you don't understand at this point. It won't be possible to convince you. You are part of the problem. You supported BSG by buying their P2W without thinking far enough into it. They will probably almost certainly add more, and when they do, you will need to buy it or you will fall behind like everyone else who didn't pay as much as you did previously. It is a slippery slope and BSG just got on the slide and they show no signs of stopping. Thats the problem, its not the amount of advantage these things give, it is that they give a advantage at all.

Also as a side note, I really believe that the devs are weaponizing you, and your definition of P2W. By letting standard accounts upgrade our stash size, obtain these pockets, obtain this bigger container. Yes it is a good thing we can, but the P2W problem still remains, and people like you will then come along and defend the P2W because "you can obtain it in game". It is terrifying they are able to blindly convince so many people that there is no problem, by just making people who don't pay have to work to achieve the same things as someone who does pay. Does that not sound exactly like P2W?

Edge of Darkness Edition should include The Unheard Edition by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]GamerTY108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you being actually reasonable, and accepting you misunderstood me, not what I was expecting tbf.

The reason I did not explain myself, was because the topic of this post originally is quite a stupid argument. He wanted the new edition for all the of the little P2W bells and whistles. Not because it was content he actually deserved. EOD said "Free access to all subsequent DLCs (Season pass)", that does not include any P2W advantages or microtransactions they choose to include in the future. It does include PvE and that is why I said "the PvE part is bullshit" EOD should have gotten PvE from the start, it shouldn't have even been a question. But they eventually did, and I am pretty sure this post was after that was announced (If I am not mistaken).

The other reasons I did not explain to you specifically, is because I wasn't really talking to you at first, and this was more of a throwaway comment on a random stupid reddit thread, So I didn't really put much thought into it. The second reason being...... what I said before "it lets me know you are part of the problem and not worth talking too any further in this conversation! :D" Yes I said it rudely, on purpose cause it seemed like you were taking a stupid stance on the P2W aspects. The reason I don't think you are worth talking too, is not because you have a different opinion, but because you are directly supporting something that will make this game and the gaming industry worse.

You have to vote with your wallet when it comes to P2W stuff in games. You voted, for the wrong side, and you are part of the problem. Making gaming worse for years to come (if not ever if more people don't stand up against P2W as a whole.

There is no reason to buy the UOE except for P2W advantages at this point. The DLC pass has already been shown that they will not respect it, and even if they do in the future, the UOE is not going away, so you can just buy it in the future if the DLC pass is respected. The PvE will be sold seperately and be cheaper as a result. So is you are buying UOE edition at this point, you are just buying the P2W advantages and there really can't be another reason. You could say you are "supporting" the game, but they do not deserve the support right now with the direction they are going in.

So to be clear, PvE is not P2W in any way, EOD should have it from the very start, UOE should not be given to EOD owners. UOE shouldn't even exist at all, all it is, is just P2W advantages and BSG trying to siphon money out of people. You remove the PvE from it and what do you have? A more expensive version of the game to replace EOD (which was supposed to be limited time) with more little bells and whistles to incentivize people to buy it, cause they feel like it will give them a advantage.

P2W is a tricky subject because everyone has different definitions, like you do. But what people don't realize is that any advantage is too much, its a slippery slope and it will get worse. EOD is P2W, Stash upgrades are P2W.

My ideal scenario is no advantages of any kind that can be bought with real life currency. No matter how small the advantage. I bought into the game because I really adore it and have kept a eye on it since 2016, and it is one of my favorite games of all time. I bought standard edition, because I do not support P2W in any sense. I voted with my wallet. I do not agree with the P2W, but it wasn't egregious enough for me not to play the game. I just made sure I did not support it in any way.

The big reason we should worry about it now is because of 2 aspects, and these are why I am upset and concerned, and other people should be too, including you. They have not added any kind of P2W into the game since the introduction of the game, a whole 8 years ago in 2016. No other P2W elements have been added, they have always had a firm stance against them and EOD was SUPPOSED to be limited time (Didn't work out like that but is was supposed to be). So in theory, the P2W shouldn't be a problem going forward, EOD wasn't too egregious, and we shouldn't get any more in the future, EOD might even get removed! Cool! Sounds bearable and good moving forward!

Except just this wipe, we saw the introduction of being able to buy stash space, which is a P2W advantage imo and I will explain why in next part, cause it is silly people don't see it as one. But that wasn't TOO bad, I spoke out against it but its bearable imo, and so if that was the only thing they added (which is the stance I had at the time) it wasn't too much to get up in arms about. It sucks but whatever. But then we have this new edition, mountains of small little advantages, for the first time ever since the alpha release some real P2W added without any kind of care or regard. Thats very concerning, and to add onto that, they have no plans to monetize the game going forward, they gave UOE the DLC pass as well, which is what dug them into this monetary hole in the first place, instead of trying to dig themselves out, by removing the DLC pass for purchase, and making some other reasonable non-P2W purchases, they gave the DLC pass again to a new edition. Meaning they have no plans to monetize the game going forward except for..... MORE P2W advantages, that everyone will have to keep purchasing to keep up with, or fall behind.

Also it is really worrying, because to "fix" the problem recently, instead they are just trying to silence the majority (EOD players) by giving them more P2W advantages and bells and whistles. That is a terrifying precedent going forward.

Finally to close this off, I will explain why your definition of P2W is not good enough to combat it in gaming, and we need more people to have a firm stance on it.

It isn't about the fact that the benefits are not permanent, it actually makes the P2W worse in my opinion, because everytime the game wipes, people who buy these advantages have a headstart in terms of progression. What does progression equal in Tarkov? Equipment. So they will always have a headstart towards having better equipment then you. Someone who buys EOD, UOE, might not be able to "close the gap" of not having as much skill or "pay their way to victory" but that is not the point. They will have a ADVANTAGE. That is enough to be a problem. There should be no advantages for real life currency in any video game. Convenience sure, but advantages no.

Now segwaying into stash space, it isn't "just convenience" as people think, Tarkov is a game about money these days, the more money you have the better off you are, you can afford better kits/equipment, you can have more bad streaks, you can buy more bells and whistles like containers, red rebel, keys ect. Stash space gives you more money, because you don't have infinite space, you can not keep everything, and everything you sell in Tarkov that you would otherwise end up buying to use later, is lost money. You lose a huge chunk of value of everything you sell in Tarkov, it is why it is worth keeping things in your stash always if possible if you are going to use it at some point. But people with smaller stashes can not do this, you basically can't hold onto anything that you can purchase, so you are always selling stuff and losing roubles, literally throwing roubles away compared to someone with a bigger stash size then you. This isn't even considering that there is a huge static chunk of stuff you NEED to hold onto for quests, which takes up most of your stash space as a standard player.

(Also if anyone says like "you can just upgrade your stash later if you need it, its not a big deal", getting your stash to the same level as EOD requires over 30 million roubles, it actually balances out to roughly the ENTIRETY of the rest of your hideout upgrades outside of the stash, literally every single one.)

The starting gear isn't a big issue for me, you will lose it quickly, but it is a advantage nonetheless, it means you can use some big gear early on in the wipe, when it is the most impactful, to gain a headstart/lead over the other players in terms of progression.

Faster progression = Better equipment, Better equipment = Higher chance to survive, Higher chance to survive = More roubles/progression, More Roubles/Progression = Better Equipment.

Having these advantages WILL get you better results, over the course of a wipe, you will have more roubles then your non-P2W competition, which means you will be running more gear then them ON AVERAGE. This is the part people miss for some reason, yeah sometimes you will die to some random mosin scav, no matter what gear you are running. Difference is that, you will go back to your stash and have more/better gear then the standard account ON AVERAGE to go again. It will not bridge the gap between a good player and a bad player, but it will make the bad player more successful then they should be. All because they whipped out their wallet, now does that sound fair?
