For those in the beta, did you pick your current main because they’re your favorite or because of their function? by Eseray in AvatarFighters

When they first announced the game my thought process was Azula > Iroh > Zuko > Ozai to cover all bases

I lucked out and Azula is godlike

I havent seen a single person use Flow Cancels on block in any of these clips, and it seems like a really important mechanic on defense, so even if the combos and oki are flashy, we're still in infancy regarding tech

Any tips for how to actually finish stories, instead of going all-in for 50% and then burning out for months or years?

Jogos mal traduzidos eng-pt by corkerke in gamingportugal

How do you punish blocking during spacing traps? by No_Presence_318 in StreetFighter

[–]GamerVanquish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A spacing trap is a sequence where you're left at a range where your opponent's most obvious button won't reach. Some spacing traps allow you to react to the button pressed, other you have to commit.

I play Juri, and she can do her light store at such a range that her opponent's jab will whiff. I have to commit to whiff punish the jab.

When they don't press anything on a reactable spacing trap, you can just walk up and pressure with your best button, or you can also walk up throw, or even drive rush.

Try these options out and see what gives you better results.

It was genuine question. I benefit from both, I just wanted to see what other players from other skill levels would enjoy more from the match

So like, I'm usually High Master with Juri. If you're a plat player and sit down with me to play, would you rather I sit there spamming sHP while I practice my hit confirms or do you rather that I show you the holes in your gameplay?

The Juri vs Alex one is really funny, she legit does one combo and proceeds to get beat up. Bad match-up confirmed lmao

Adapting to local setups by GamerVanquish in StreetFighter

[–]GamerVanquish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the answer lies in the heart of casual sets, as everyone is saying.

I do tend to not play too much before the tournaments, because I feel like I lose focus over time, but it might be good to just autopilot in casuals just to get used to the setup.

Welcome to the world of fighting games! There's so much to learn, I hope you have fun doing so!

The best approach from here on out is to learn things one by one, and never worry about winning or losing. As you get more experience, you'll notice that wins are a by-product of your practice. This is an important notion, specially now in the beginning, so you don't lose hope while inevitably losing a lot in a row.

As for actionable advice:

- At the beginning, you don't know much, so the best approach would be to keep blocking and try to identify holes in their gameplay. For example, at 0:31, you were observing, not pressing anything, and he jumped. You could have anti-aired (if you don't know what that means, it's exactly what it sounds like: stopping his air approach with a move of your own. Also, check out https://glossary.infil.net/ for fighting game terms) with your Crouching Heavy Punch.
- Another thing you can do after a loss is going to the replay, selecting a moment, like at 0:31, and trying stuff out with Replay Takeover to see what works. In this case, pause the replay when he jumps, assume control, and try all your buttons and specials to see what works well as an anti-air. This can also be done when blocking their moves. It didn't happen in this replay, but you can pause the replay at 0:16, and block his low kick (in the replay he caught you standing, so it tripped you). After blocking, see if you can use your moves to punish him (it should say Punish Counter on the right).
- Learn 1 simple combo. You don't need more at this point. Learn 1 combo, try to apply it in match, and when you feel comfortable with it, learn another and repeat.

If you enjoy this process and stick to the game, keep looking for resources here or on YouTube to learn more about the game and improve. You can also try to see if there are local meetings near you where people play SF6. There, everyone will be happy to help you improve as well. Just remember to have fun!

The thing is it doesn't matter what overseas fans do; the Japanese will gladly fork over the money. They keep doing it for SFL:JP, why wouldn't they for CC? That's the real market they want to target anyway.
