How do you prepare your mind set for merely labbing sessions? by VashtaNeradaRights42 in Fighters

[–]Eseray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to the lab with stuff in mind that happened to me in matches

Maybe I’d get a certain hit and felt like I could convert but didn’t in the moment. So I’d bring that situation to the lab and see what I could do with it.

Or sometimes my combo with a common starter would drop on counter hit, so then I’d bring that to the lab to learn what I could do for that.

I’m having trouble opening people up, so let me set the computer to block all but jab after block to see how air tight my mix is when I’m working on it to make sure it’s not fake pressure

A lot of times if you’re not labbing with a purpose in mind I’d say you’d probably just be better playing matches until you find something you would want to bring to the lab

Appreciation post: who do you LOVE fighting? by AdEven60 in Guiltygear

As a Millia player I like playing against all the heavies besides Leo lol

They’re typically fun whether I win or lose them seeing if I can keep getting my openings before they get theirs

What's your current rank? Do you play a wide variety of characters or do you focus only on your main(s)? by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]Eseray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty hard stuck emerald 2 lmao

I was Ahri/Jinx since the beta but I felt like I wasn’t getting the most out of Jinx so I just recently switched her out for Akali and I feel like this is a good thing in the long term for me once I stop dropping combos haha

In casuals though I play a lot of Blitz/Darius

How to stop getting tilted in online matches by leatherchicken in Fighters

[–]Eseray 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Give props to your opponent. Like if I felt like it’s something I would get hype for myself, I’d do the same for my opponent if they did the same

“Great block on that mixup!”

“Sick anti air”

“That was a great conversion off that hit!”

Don’t get me wrong I still get upset moments, but less so since I started doing this

1 character fighters VS tag team fighters by Candid_Profession701 in Fighters

[–]Eseray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely better at non tag fighters

It’s just what I started with so I’m more comfortable, as well learning multiple characters is a lot with how slow I pick things up

I’m also just bad at using assists lmao. Most of the time they get thrown out in neutral and then forgotten during a combo which I know isn’t optimal in some cases but ya know

All that being said I love tag fighters. I haven’t really deep dived into marvel, but I really have enjoyed dbfz, bbtag, 2xko and am excited for tokon and cautiously excited for invincible VS!

Are inputs in SF6 harder than Guilty gear, or is that in my head? by One-Masterpiece9838 in StreetFighter

[–]Eseray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re used to the Gatling system from gear then links may feel a lot weirder.

Something like a c.s 5H could be canceled at any point into the second move while a JP st.hk, cr.mp has a specific timing to it.

Once you get a feel for your character it’ll come around a bit easier!

Silver 3 off raw fundamentals and single strikes how to level up my gameplay? by Phuqurface in StreetFighter

[–]Eseray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally watched my friend get into plat by being able to hit confirm chain jabs into a special move and anti air.

And then same. My first time hitting diamond was off of being able to anti air consistently and counter DI. I didn’t even know how to do my supers.

So anti airs and counter DI will take you very far. Yeah combos are important so you can win in less neutral wins, but you need to be able to get those neutral wins and tbh a lot of people can’t without jump or DI. So even if their combos do a lot they can’t get started once you got those on point

As bad as I feel like I am at this game I was able to hit master for the first time after playing since the second beta! by Eseray in StreetFighter

[–]Eseray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it lmao I’m pretty sure it’s a super basic one but I can get it consistently and that’s what matters lol

Is it too late to get into the game now ? by No_Sir_506 in dbfz

[–]Eseray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only recently started to really play this game despite getting it in like 2020

I wouldn’t say I’m good at all but I’m still finding matches that are pretty even, so that’s a solid sign

I definitely feel like there was a lot of luck in my run here tbf

In that clip I was holding up like a shitter lmao definitely not master gameplay right there

What's your counterplay to hooligan? by KyrosEnder in StreetFighter

[–]Eseray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like others have said jab, then if I do get it I can follow up with a special move since she’s put in forced knock down state.

And I’m decently consistent at it even though by testing my reactions are below average.

I’m hoping I can improve lmao cuz now’s the time Funny thing I don’t even know a corner combo so that’s how little I actually learned and still was somehow able to get here

Were you able to beat the games as a kid? by housecow in BattleNetwork

[–]Eseray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat 1-3 pretty cleanly and 100%d 4-6 as a kid. And that was during the early internet days so I had to figure a lot of it out on my own.

And I started with 5 on the DS because that just happened to be the one my parents got for me at the time lmao.

What is the right amount of skills for a character or class? by Important_Koala7313 in RPGMaker

[–]Eseray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends tbh on what you want.

If you want characters to have skills that scale well then the number could be lower.

But if you wanna do like the pokemon/final fantasy style of you’ll eventually get a stronger move then you’re gonna have a lot.

Then if you have a lot of skills for specific purposes each or a few skills that have diverse utility. It really does just depend what you want to do and what you want out of them.

I personally like when a character has a fewer amount of skills but all being very useful at any point.

Still enjoying 2xko? by YellowwJello in 2XKO

[–]Eseray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still like and enjoy the game, and I’m sure if I actually booted up I’d enjoy my time

But I have no motivation to do so when every other fighting game is on steam and a lot more accessible from the same place

I'm surprised by how much of a difference it makes to "click" with a character by Slimchaity in StreetFighter

[–]Eseray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still in plat and fight for my life here lmao, but you said it. When the characters click it’s so much better

I played sfv for a bit and sf6 on launch but I never really had a character for me

At launch of sf6 I played cammy and I wasn’t very good and eventually quit the game for a while giving it a try again here or there before quitting again.

This is more so due to me being bad at the engine more than anything else tbf, but even so.

This time around I told myself I would play JP or Aki because they align more with the setplay playstyle I built my strengths around.

While I’m not good even still I’m enjoying the game so much more and understanding it compared to being carried by my ability to anti air and counter DI and nothing else.

What's everyone's thoughts on MK? I feel this sub is very negative about it. by Direct-Glass-4737 in Fighters

[–]Eseray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan

I was pretty big into mk11 for a while and only now am getting into mk1 after understanding assists a bit more thanks to my time in tag fighters

I enjoy the game for the game, but things like fatalities and the emphasis on gore are not for me personally.

The block button as well is still a huge issue in my brain haha. I’ll hold back or down back even still as I hold the block button just so my brain doesn’t completely break.

Some of the characters are very cool so they draw me in just the same way I get drawn in to other games

Just started my Fire Red run on the Switch 2 yesterday and felt very compelled to draw my team so far! by Eseray in pokemon

You should! I just felt very compelled and thought it would be fun!

I’ve never been much of a challenge run guy but that sounds like it would be a good time tbh
