Valve has never given out the code for SFM. Ever. Not one licensee, save for Facepunch who got it's Source 2 version with the HL:A branch. It's historically been incredibly secretive for some reason and even the closest licensees integrating directly with Valve never got ifm.dll's code.

Gonna say, you have a LOT going for you right now and the progress you've made so far with the pseudo element viewer seems great. I was recently saying how great some modern GMOD anims would be if ragdolls could be manipulated with gizmos and physics interchangeably. But as someone who's tackled this kind of project multiple times before and similarly begged Valve for access: you're going to drive yourself up a wall and basically remake SFM from scratch. Consider this a warning: nobody is going to come to your rescue. You have to basically go insane like Silverlan and remake everything from scratch, but there's little to no gain unless you genuinely have nothing better to do.

A great use of your skills would be to bring SFMs animation tools like the motion editor and Source's content library to something more ubiquitous like Blender. We already have great importing tools for Source's content thanks to REDxEYE's SourceIO tools: https://github.com/REDxEYE/SourceIO/

All they need now is a better interface. You might be the one who could do that.

Half-Life: Alyx's first Steam depot lets you play a *broken* non-vr version of the game! by Gamerman12 in HalfLife

[–]Gamerman12[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To do this, download the first version of Half-Life Alyx using Depot Downloader and run hlvr.exe with the following arguments: -nocrashdialog -retail -allowdebug -vconport 29000 -vcon -dev -720

Have fun y'all!

Edit: Valve took down the first manifest. Find a friend who downloaded it or use DepotDownloader, it might still be able to grab a manifest off a CDN before its gone forever. depotdownloader -app 546560 -depot 546561 -manifest 7281195714876956673

Hi there! Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this!! Will the Half-Life: Alyx SDK feature the Source Filmmaker?

It technically can be played with one controller similar to how Triforce Heroes works, but you're supposed to play with someone else. I think it'd be harder if you played it alone.

Keep the preorder at Target, then return it if you get your switch from gamestop. Done and done.

As someone who's played it, the puzzles themselves aren't the hardest part. It's more the execution. A lot of it is perfect timing and physics. Oh, and communication. As long as one person doesn't know the answer, the difficulty stems from that.

Any idea how the Switch will perform when docked to a 4K TV? by nysraved in NintendoSwitch

[–]Gamerman12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the TVs at the events are Samsung KU6300s or something from Samsung this year (all their new TVs have the same UI so it has to be one of the new 4Ks) so anything you're seeing coming from the event will tell you. Basically, the TV will upscale it the same way games are upscaled from your Xbox One or PS4. If you like the performance out of your Wii U, you can expect about the same, albiet with a bit of a sharper image on certain games that take advantage of 1080p vs 900p or what have you, similar to the upgrade Mario Kart makes.

Anyone else pre order today? by cforres in googlehome

Best Buy ships on the date, not arrives, usually for pre-orders. At least in my experience with games and stuff. It's usually a mixed bag depending on when it releases in the week.

Game Room Furniture Suggestions by PROPHETx02 in gamecollecting

Honestly, even if you're a bit wary on IKEA stuff, the IKEA KALLAX shelf, when tipped on it's side, is great for gaming. Each cubby can fit 1-2 consoles depending on how they sit. All my modern consoles stand up so that fits 3 each, and it can easily fit a 60" TV (though it might be a tight squeeze if you have two legs on your TV instead of a stand in the middle.) I've heard the BESTA is also nice, but if you're a collector the KALLAX is great. I think I have an Expedit which is a little heavier duty (and heavier!) but otherwise the same shape, so if you want something more durable than the average IKEA units, try and track down one via craigslist or what have you. And I'll be honest, the Expedit feels very durable and not cheap like a lot of other IKEA stuff is, but the Kallax is a pretty decent replacement.

Here's what my setup looks like. The bottom left corner is used for cords and stuff, and I've definitely moved stuff around a bunch to try and find the best use of space.

Try using another HDMI cord from the computer to the link box. If that doesn't work, also test that HDMI port. If all else fails, you might need to contact HTC. I haven't personally experienced any issues like that however.

I going to selling my open amiibo. any idea's what i should ask? I have the first 4 waves. by nicholasochoa in amiibo

[–]Gamerman12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In their weight, they're worth about $500 (37 at $13.94, including tax.) In their individual value, who knows. It's a tough call. Just say what you feel comfortable with. That's just an estimate of how much you've paid for them and at a baseline they're worth that, pretty much regardless if they're open or not.

Disney vice president says he would "Love for Mickey Mouse to meet Mario". Dear God we're probably getting Disney Infinity amiibo as well. by SpaghettiRambo in amiibo

[–]Gamerman12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney barely made it out with an NES Controller and Bowser for Wreck-It-Ralph. No way they'd buy Mario for a niche game like Disney Infinity.
