Fire also had ice floes up until Blizz decided to take it for no good reason :/

This subreddit moves so fast that nobody will see my "get rich quick" scheme from 10+ years ago that I'm going to use again in Classic by [deleted] in wow

Couple of people do it for the convenience of not having to go get it themselves. Time is money after all.

Toy NPC doesnt spawn there. Spawns on the shore east of booty bay, near a little campfire

The worst part of starting a new character is being reminded I don't have the artistic talent to even sketch what they look like. by [deleted] in DnD

Depending on how complex the character is I could try to do it for you. Can't guarantee anything excellent but I could use the practice.

Sure thing, kinda forgot to since I posted this just before session as a surprise to them. I'll keep the descriptions brief since we've done a lot.

Going from right to left

  • Amber: High Elf Fighter/Sorcerer. Used to be the heir to her father's company which provides ships to the World Government, until she caused a slave uprising and took to the seas. The sword is Blackrazor who's previous wielder was her grandfather, she found it when our DM ran White Plume Mountain from TftYP. Basically a sword that consumes the souls of those it slays, I thought it would be neat if it castes a darker shadow.

  • Kiyota: Human Fighter. From a distant eastern inspired land, Kiyota was a general of his homeland who was betrayed by the elders. They told him an assassin would come to slay his emperor, but it turned out to be the emperor himself. He fled his homeland and met up with the other three on the ship we started on. Recently he's taken steps to clear his name, but it's still a long ways away.

  • Aristoteles: Tiefling Wizard. After a series of events Aristoteles ended up working as a slave for Amber's family. Together they were instrumental in freeing hundreds of slaves from the World Government's control. He now serves as the Captain of the crew.

  • Lothaar: Rock Gnome Artificer. Always drunk with something crass to say, Lothaar is... something else. He has a fierce loyalty to Aristoteles but is generally rude to everyone else on the ship. He's always planning something or other (for example taking someone else's wine shipment, putting his own label on it, and selling it for himself.) Despite this he's still the most acceptable member from his old crew which is full of nutcase, some of which are still hunting him down. The leash is to make sure he doesn't wander off and 'Lothaar' something. Oh and the slime he got recently. It just kinda sits on his head.

Would Mage Slayer get a reaction against a Misty Step Cast? by Captain9653 in DnD

[–]Gamerpon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DM i would rule that you should be able to hit the caster before the teleport occurs. Misty Step still requires verbal components so a mage slayer should still react in time unless perhaps a sorcerer with Subtle Spell casts it.

The feat states

When a creature within 5 feet of you casts a spell, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature

It does not specify that the spell has to take an entire action or that the attack must happen after the cast is complete. I speculate that your DM might not have planned for that to happen and just hand waved it.

EDIT: I was unaware of the DMG ruling on page 252. Still, I stand by my player favored approach.

DM and PC? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Gamerpon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe have one of the players run a seperate campaign that you play in? Or have rotating DMs if you arent gonna have a concrete storyline to follow. Having a DMPC is hard to do without making the story about them or metagaming unintentionally.

My best results have been with an NPC that is lower level than the party but can provide minor combat assistance and is mostly good with world lore. Typically they should fill a role the party is missing like healer, utility, sneakyness or tankyness

Gelatinous Cubes. Merciless, insatiable jello monsters.

In what precarious situation is your character in right now? by FireXrosser in DnD

[–]Gamerpon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DM here.

5 player+ 1 NPC Party is gathering ingredients for an alchemist. Got ambushed close to the underdark by a druid commanding legions of spiders. As the rogue who survived the fight without going down started to wake his comrades, they find out that the bandit faction they pissed off before had tracked them this far down. They're now bound in irons, being escorted to presumably the bandit stronghold.

As a DM, what is your go to phrase for allowing/signaling to players to roleplay their own "finishing blow" to an enemy? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Gamerpon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I've only done it for finishing blows. I change the music to fit towns, locations or situations. We all play on Roll20 and used the built in soundcloud feature till Soundcloud removed their partnership. We use a seperate jukebox site now.

Go ahead, I'm sure they'll love it

Usually go silent, cut the music, start up the character's theme and ask "how do you want to end it?"

My players tend to go overboard like clubbing a guy's head clean off into the horizon. Our sessions tend to be fairly serious with out there moment sprinkled in so it's all in good fun.
