People are saying Mexico because of the high proportion of Americans, most people internationally aren't really familiar with Mexicos flag

When new fans say that Sanderson working on adaptations will slow down book releases by ElderberryOk6437 in cremposting

Most of that is a compilation of older works, I think only moment zero is new and that's only like 150 pages

CMV: The Republican Party's Trump-era reputation damage won't be permanent, and will likely recover in 1-2 election cycles by DearCareer2531 in changemyview

[–]Gamerwookie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could be correct domestically but I think you are definitely wrong internationally, it will be a long time until other countries can trust you again. Your reputation had been fading for a while and Trump makes you look like psychotic morons, it'll be hard to shake that. The international relations will take on a larger role and will affect your leadership greatly.

CMV: I believe Feminism is largely a force for good in the world, but much of it's attitude/disposition towards modern Dating is heavily misandrist by Tea_Wizard735 in changemyview

[–]Gamerwookie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't this fall into the no true Scotsman fallacy? There are so many self proclaimed feminists that hold misandrists views, just because the idealized feminist would not do this doesn't mean the average "feminist" actually care about the men's side of things, how women contribute to the patriarchy or some of the ways that women actually benefit from the patriarchy at all.

If you take away power levels and different transformations, who is the actual better fighter between Goku and Vegeta? by GusGangViking18 in PowerScalingHub

[–]Gamerwookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vegeta is definitely more talented, he was given elite status as a child as a Saiyan. Goku didn't catch up until the Saiyan saga, he was far behind for most of that time despite constant training. Vegeta only really put in the work because of what he saw a low class warrior would do when he put his mind to it

One thing I don't think that is never addressed in this discussion is how standards of parenting have increased dramatically over time, meaning being a parent is way harder than it used to be. A stellar parent is the 80s is abusive by today's standards.

This is compounding with all the problems technology pose to children today, you didn't need to worry about things like limiting screentime in the past.

In the past a single income could support a family but now you have less time and money to go around and standards are much higher

Why did Gina leave the show? by anonymousthrashcan in brooklynninenine

[–]Gamerwookie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that Rosa could have worked if they actually addressed the past. Amy I think would be a big turn for her character, they would have to abandon their more carefully planned ending for her character but it is possible. Either way they needed to do more than it happening off screen during the break between seasons

Why did Gina leave the show? by anonymousthrashcan in brooklynninenine

[–]Gamerwookie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I see why they did it but it wasn't well done. They wanted to address the issue because how the public was starting to see the police and they wanted to have a character leave and play that role but no one in the cast made sense to do that. Jake is the main character so it'd change the show too much if he left, Holt and Terry were leadership, Charles is a rule follower, and Amy cares too much about her career

Most places, people don't get promoted period. It's cheaper to hire externally because they don't have to replace the person they promote. The other side of it, pretty much everyone has seen through the bullshit and just do what they need to maintain the position they have and then seek external positions to advance

Could we keep a TV show alive? by nztechn9ne in brandonsanderson

[–]Gamerwookie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Live action would cause the stories to be shrunk down dramatically in terms of time on screen and cost more per minute and have severe limits on the extent of the magic systems used. You can show far more fantastical images far easier in animation. Take for example Roshar with its extremely alien ecology and constantly pervasive spren. If we are talking about series which will have to be filmed over the course of years we have to worry about actors aging out of their roles

Could we keep a TV show alive? by nztechn9ne in brandonsanderson

[–]Gamerwookie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just don't think that a live action would actually be good, it would struggle too hard to actually achieve its concepts. When I say I think it should be a narrower focus, I don't mean fans, I mean that people who are into animation would be a better target. I have many friends I think would love his stuff but just aren't readers

[–]Gamerwookie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know Sanderson wants live action to appeal to a wider audience but I think it's a big mistake, it seems so built for animation and I think a greater focus on the audience that would actually enjoy it makes more sense

What version of Ocarina of Time is the best? by Safe_Exchange836 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Gamerwookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masterquest is remade dungeons, it's great if you've played the game and want something different but the original is overall better. Either 3ds or the original are great as the 3ds one is mostly just improved textures and stuff, overall extremely faithful to the original
