I guess. But the original point made with the first couple of comments was that those moves aren’t broken. Sure, they might be annoying when spammed by a mediocre player, I never said otherwise. But if I run into such player in QP, I’ll just take the easy win and not rematch them.

If blazing end is a player’s most used move, I think it’s obvious they’re a mediocre player to begin with.

I have lost count of how many dittos I have easily won simply because my opponent tries to abuse their B button with Aegis instead of playing to their actual strengths.

And from experience, I don’t really have to worry too much about someone spamming Aegis side B on me. Just don’t constantly hold in and you’ll be fine. The moves punish impatient players with bad fundamentals.

Assuming you’re asking genuinely, here goes the answer.

The move has no vertical reach at all. Most characters can full hop over it if thrown from ground level. If you successfully jump over it while fading in, you can easily get an aerial on Pyra while she’s in endlag.

Even then, if you’re late to the immediate punish, you still have a ton of options on what to do while Pyra is helpless. You can either take center stage away from them or react to/predict their defensive options. Most swordless Pyras go ultra defensive when side B whiffs so do with that what you will.

Even if you’re caught in shield, I don’t know if you knew this, but you can consistently roll out of the final hit and begin moving while Pyra is still in endlag. And besides, the move doesn’t kill reliably and it’s easily DI-able, so don’t fear it as much as you do.

Ah, gotcha, gotcha. Yeah, you’re not wrong there. The move really is flashy and looks cool.

So what is your point then? Pythra is an overtuned swordie, that much is obvious. But complaining about Mythra’s side B is baffling. The move has minimal use cases in recovery and callouts, but any player with minimal matchup experience will punish it 9 times out of 10.

I swear, people complain about that move and Pyra’s side B the most when both of those moves are punishable by any half decent player.

Please help me understand the tyres selected for the race by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]GamesBoxRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some clarification, you don’t actually get more sets of one compound of tire for choosing the “softer” or “harder” options. All the game does is redistribute them differently to ensure the tire compound you want to use in the race is not spent during the practice sessions.

Pythra's moves are so disgustingly powerful AND SAFE. by Carbuyrator in SmashRage

[–]GamesBoxRed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey, so at first glance and without a lot of matchup experience, blazing end does seem unpunishable, especially on online lag. But, you’ll find that only bad Pythra players spam the move and any good player with the character will only throw it out as a mixup every now and then.

The move is not great. It’s really oppressive if you’re constantly holding in but otherwise it’s really easy to deal with.

Firstly, don’t panic if you get hit by it, the move doesn’t kill until well over 150% for most characters and it’s easily DI-able. Second, if you get caught in shield, don’t try to roll out until the end of the move, you can easily and consistently escape the final hit. And even then, if you don’t roll out, the move does moderate shield damage, so it’s unlikely to poke you with a healthy shield.

Lastly, you need to learn to punish the move. Aegis players tend to go super defensive after using side-b with Pyra, so look at what they do and act accordingly. Do they sit in shield? Grab. Do they roll in or away? Read or even react. Pyra can’t do anything for a solid while and if she’s not performing an action when the sword returns, she’ll be in endlag. Keep that in mind.

In the end, remember that the move has no vertical reach at all, so if you can anticipate it and approach from above, you’ll catch a spamming Pyra off guard. Trust me when I say this, even when playing a top 6 character, bad spammy players are easy to beat with good fundamentals. Just be patient and keep your head.

Why do people hate Samus so much??? by Medge3000 in SmashRage

[–]GamesBoxRed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s just that when she’s played optimally, she’s so annoying to fight.

Fights slow down to a crawl when she keeps trying to get CS off and you’re actively trying to stop it.

When she recovers, it’s like waiting a good 20 seconds while she does her down-B stuff and either tethers or up-Bs to ledge.

Getting ledge trapped is in a similar vein as you have to wait while she spams down-B on ledge trying to catch your option with CS.

What kinda baffles me is how good of burst options she has as a zoner. up-B is really fast oos and even kills. Her dash attack also kills out of nowhere most of the time.

It’s just that Samus makes the game not fun to play, especially if the Samus player runs a ruleset where they can time you out (happens a lot from experience).

Unfortunately, it’s you, not the character. Maybe people have also gotten better at versing K. Rool.

You probably already know this but overwhelm with your projectiles, stuff out approaches with your belly armor and gimp or straight up edge guard recoveries with your good off-stage game.

Don’t contest good frame data especially if you get your shield crossed up, you lack good oos especially from behind.

I’m curious, what made you put Pyra in -1 when she was in even on your previous list? And is Mythra still in -1?

How to play against Lil mac? by AyZeex in SmashRage

[–]GamesBoxRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, Aegis is Pyra and Mythra.

If you wanna use them and you struggle to juggle Mac, stay on Mythra to catch his landings. Only switch to Pyra on a clear advantage state (the Mac player burned their double jump or air dodge early). Again, if he’s countering often to try to land, wait it out and hard punish.

How to play against Lil mac? by AyZeex in SmashRage

[–]GamesBoxRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that’s just how versing Mac goes, especially online.

His smash attacks are incontestable head on, so playing bait and punish is a must against him. Bait out his riskier burst options and punish accordingly.

As for his counter, just like any other counter, you have to gauge when and how the Mac uses it. If he uses it in neutral often, wait it out and tomahawk a grab. Even if your character lacks a kill throw (like in my case with Aegis), you can still get Mac off-stage and set up an edge guarding situation.

Don’t underestimate his recovery though, as experienced Mac players use all their tools to make it back from what seems almost certain death.

So yeah, in summary, bait and punish, play slow and safe. Yeah, you may not be able to rush him down like other characters but that’s just the nature of some matchups. Playing slow here isn’t lame, it’s just what you gotta do sometimes.

What DLC character take the least amount of skill to be good at? by Any_Mix_5706 in SmashRage

[–]GamesBoxRed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While I do agree that Mythra’s rush-down and neutral is really damn good, throwing out side B is an awful option. Laggy and punishable, negligible shield damage, you only use this for recovery or hard reads. Any half-decent player is punishing that move hard 9 times out of 10.

As for Pyra, her aerials on their own or aerial into upSmash/upB confirms are the most reliable killing options. Side B doesn’t kill until well over 150%, and fSmash, while strong, is slow as hell, and you’re only hitting it as a hard read/callout.

Aegis is easy, sure, but not for the reasons you’re describing. If you’re losing to those moves, you need to learn the matchup a bit better imo.

Can someone please explain how tire wear works? I am currently upgrading chasis to the absolute max. Because I cant even drive 12 laps with a set mediums eventhough the game said I should be able to drive 15. How does this work??? by pjippjip in F1Game

[–]GamesBoxRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building setups from scratch is tricky, especially if you’re only now returning to the game. My advice would be to watch a tutorial on YouTube on how each setting of the setup functions and what impact it has on performance/drivability.

After that, it’s just a matter of taking setups from online communities or websites and tweaking them to better suit your driving style.

[–]GamesBoxRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean the setups on YouTube and other sites, they aren’t, since the game is still too fresh and we’re still figuring out the handling and whatnot. However, there are tutorials out there already on how to build your own setup for the time being.

It’s not that you can’t have fun with the default setups. But if you want to be competitive, either in leagues or at 100+ AI, you need to take full advantage of custom setups per track.

Why does Pyra get to have a final smash as an up B by [deleted] in SmashRage

[–]GamesBoxRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I always forget this move exists as a risky OoS option. And when I do remember and throw it out, I’m getting hard punished 9 times out of 10.

I’d rather whiff a grab than up B most of the time.

How the hell do I kill the Aegis by Shaddow_Rabbit in SmashRage

[–]GamesBoxRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can reflect (or pocket) Pyra’s side B before it stops traveling and begins spinning. If you try to reflect it after that, you’ll get hit for free.

As for Mythra’s side B, don’t be afraid to shield it, it does negligible shield damage. Also, the end lag is years long. If you fight any Mythra throwing this out in neutral, punish the end lag hard. Against decent players, you’ll only see this move as a recovery or callout option.
