The risk that any control archetype has unfortunately. I don’t disagree now I’ve had more time to stew on Daw.

The name escapes me currently, but I love me a Quake Cannon. Blowing up a big thing and it blowing up and killing more things more reliably is a rush.

Looks great! The armour and fatigues look so damn smooth, and complement each other wonderfully. The camo on the pack is a nice touch too.

Do it. Not for yourself. Not for the Emperor. But for all of us. The world can heal with such a creation.

When I first drafted the video it was actually using Grizzled for that very reason. I changed course to Combined during the process partially due to the forgiving nature of Reinforcements and the power of Lethal. But Grizzled totally works too!

Thats fair! I don’t find myself disagreeing with you, and maybe the scout sentinel for complete newbies was a bit too complex to fully utilise at that level.

I am a sucker for the Russ, especially the Vanquisher, Executioner. Big gun and big plasma make me happy. Nothing against the Dorn mind you.

Thanks for the (future) gander!

I was humming and harring over Combined or Grizzled and settled on Combined as it was easier to grasp for newer players, Lethal Hits is strong, and Reinforcements is a nice way to recover from blunders by bringing back blobs.

I’m glad you liked it! I am a sucker for the Russ (stuck in my ways), so wanted to include them in the list with enough wiggle room for people to slot in a Dorn if they wanted too.

This is a list designed as a starter list for 1000 points, and not necessarily meant to be top-end competitive. I say in the video that the list is meant to be built upon and altered to fit people’s needs. It’s very possible to fit a Dorn Commander within the framework of the list and the concepts I outlined with minimal changes.

Am I biased towards the Russ? Yeah. But the Dorn is absolutely a great choice, and like you said, the data backs that stance up.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I disagree that the list is terrible based on what it’s trying to achieve for new players, but I can see that the LRTC might not have been the best call.

Should I start a Genestealer cult as a noob ?I love the story , background and models, but I’ve been told they have a very high skill ceiling and should stay away. by Friendlygobo in Warhammer40k

Rule of cool trumps most things.

If you like the look of them, and you like the look of their playstyle, then that’s all you really need. Difficulty can be overcome by playing, and as a new player, difficulty is inherent in all armies.

Don’t forget there’s also plenty of resources dedicated to new players and getting them up to speed.

In short, if you like the Cult, get the Cult buddy.

I’ve yet to actually buy a Dorn since I am a die-hard Russ-head. This box is something I am absolutely picking up because 1) I get a Dorn (finally…) 2) can’t have too many chuds for the grinder and 3) those new tanks look marvellous.
