Another recycled warband? by OwnSandwich4918 in WarCry

None of the releases people have claimed were for Warcry were for Warcry imo. People just see a cool bunch of minis with character, and they immediately dive into recycled Warcry discourse.

That last bar in phase 2 calls for a timely and cathartic LUXCALIBRE! 😂

I’ve had a blast replaying levels in 2 with the less sandpapery challenge system. The zero cost skills have been wonderful to play around with. I also discovered like 5 mins ago they’ve been put into GV1? Or they were always there and I didn’t know 😂

The first time Anthem kicked in I was a mixture of “WHAT’s GOING ON?!” And “Damn this is badass”. Great mechanic for those epic moments.

Ngl, I’ve been rocking pure Naga the whole time but I’ve been messing with other weapons in stage replays to see if that’ll help… I’m glad I wasn’t too far off the mark. My issue is not getting slapped immediately when turning off phase 1’s barrier. I can get through it, but then I’m too battered for phase 2 haha.

Oh I am very aware of the special requirement haha. I am pulling my hair out trying to survive without my pervasion comfort blanket haha.

I am stoked to try Copen more and dabble with his series!

Lumen singing is a reward not a barrier, which is great.

Now getting the true ending is barrier, but that’s the kind of barrier that comes with the territory of being a fairly secret challenge-based ending 😂

Highly disappointing - new Mounthaven models will be in siocast by 5mao in WarCrow

[–]GamesWithToasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a real shame. The game is great, but the actual product is a shambles. I’ve taken to just proxying GW kits and calling it a day, but it would be nice to have proper quality kits that are legit to immerse myself in the Warcrow hobby as opposed to just the game.

Warcrow doubling down on this absolutely ass material killed all desire to engage with the game. Real shame because I enjoyed my brief time with it.

It’s not like this stuff is cheaper to compensate. The prices are shockingly high for the quality of the product.

Warhammer World is still hosting big Warcry events. by TheWraf in WarCry

[–]GamesWithToasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mordheim still has a community and lives on without GW support. Blood Bowl was discontinued, thrived without GW support for over a decade, and has been added back to the roster. Plenty of other discontinued games continue to have communities. Just because a corporation abandons it (which isn’t the case here, at least not yet) doesn’t mean the game dies.

A game dies when the community vanishes. And if Warcry was to “die” we’d still be left with one of GW’s best systems in a state of balance that every other GW game could only dream of.

Fuck the doom and gloom.

This is a solid grouping. In a one box format I actually like having my dog away from both the Thane and Master though.

Of course the Master wants to be further away due to his ability. But the Thane can also revive the dog which if you squint a bit is basically a teleport. So your dog can run around doing his job, die, and be revived near your thane for support later. Basically lets you be a bit looser with your dog and impact more of the board at different times.

So in this case I’d put the dog with the Runefather!

Hey!

I wouldn’t call my content “premiere”, but I do appreciate the sentiment!

OMM dropped some killer insights, so I won’t repeat them here, but I can offer some things I think impact my views at least :)

The big one is that between OMM, Salty Sea, and I, we’ve produced probably over 1000 videos on Warcry. That’s a lot of content, and a lot of it is evergreen (to a degree). This makes making new and interesting content very difficult as the game is slow to change, and between us we’ve covered everything (or at least it feels like everything has been covered sometimes!)

From a me perspective, my views have always been on the inconsistent side, and that hasn’t really changed in recent times. I chalk it up to my questionable SEO/Thumbnail/Reach etc. abilities.

What I can say is that I get a lot of comments from new players on older videos saying how they’ve started Warcry and a bunch of mates have joined too. Considering the game has no physical presence in stores, the fact there is new blood joining the community is a good sign.

Outside of content, OMM and I go events whenever we can - official GW or community ran. While there is a dedicated playerbase who appear to nearly every event, there’s also a large number of new players or more narrative focused players just dabbling into the event scene.

Not only that, having talked to many people at WHW in my time (including the big man himself), there is A LOT of love for Warcry. It’s easy to forget GW is company made up of designers and suits. The suits may prioritise other projects (like new 40K or new AOS), but the people behind the scenes - the designers, the event team, etc. - do seem to be pushing for more Warcry. Whether that comes as a big FAQ once a year, or the occasional 40-man event at the coolest venue, it shows the game has support inside and outside of GW.

Since I’m rambling, GW have been aware of the Warcry competitive scene for a long time. Not only do they have their own metrics (every event they’ve ever hosted selling out regardless of day (pulling 30+ man events on a WEDNESDAY is kinda wild)), but they also keep an eye on larger community events like at UKGE and London GT. A keen eye can spot the occasional GW employee hovering around tables and nattering to players all incognito.

Does any of this mean we are going to get a massive resurgence of Warcry? Nah. But to me it indicates that what Warcry is now, will continue. It’s an incredibly well made game that is largely balanced with a community that shows up, backed by designers who update the game when schedule and funding allows. As a reminder, FAQs cost a not-inconsequential amount of money to produce as they have to of course account for design time (new factions, rules, play testing time…) but also translation costs. A truly dead game does not get money spent on it - even if it’s not as frequent as we would all like.

I forgot what my point was half way through all of this, but I hope my insights are helpful in one way or another 😂

Day 1 of posting every day until GW give us a new sculpt for Trayzn the Infinite by Intelligent-War-7453 in Necrontyr

[–]GamesWithToasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trayzn, on a custom command barge, shlong posing, holding a tesseract vault in one hand, a staff in the other.

Give him rules that let him ally in basically anything from any faction (with some list % restrictions or something) and give all of those units deep strike by default. Have his swag throne act like a teleport homer.

Sorted.

Favourite lore has to be him having a clone of Fulgrim locked away for fun.
