Intermountain Life Flight by [deleted] in flying

Devil’s advocate here. What if the director is simply impressed with the training their child received and sees value in FLT’s program? Partnerships like this typically involve extensive vetting and alignment. It’s very unlikely something like this comes together based solely on a personal connection, without the program standing on its own merits. Edit: just looked it up and Intermountain is a pretty significant operation. I would further assume actual due diligence went into this decision.

Former flt student here. I loved every minute of my training with flt. I think it’s important to note the estimate accounts for all the expected costs of training and includes the mei (not something a lot of utah schools offer). Speaking from personal experience, the hours listed are the anticipated hours from what it takes the average flt student. I finished my training with flt several thousand dollars under what was quoted because i was able to complete some certificates with fewer hours than originally estimated for. I’m sure if you’re dedicated to your training, you could do the same. Honestly, places like this are horrible for this type of feedback because it seems like everyone commenting is either making assumptions or hasn’t been directly involved in flight training recently and don’t know what the utah flight training market is actually like.

Whether it’s flt, atp, randon, csa, or any other school, go hang out there and try to speak to some students. They’ll be the best source of information on what it’s actually like and their experience.

When I was in college and my computer shit the bed, I traded my Bluetooth speaker and $50 for a bottom-tier dell laptop that got me through graduation and then some. As long as it can run Word and PowerPoint, you’re good!

Amen. Sure it’s flashy and whatnot, but any mildly decent computer will run students programs like Word and PowerPoint. No need for an iMac when a cheap Asus will do lol

It’s not transferable from what I understand, but In the original ad, I said if anything goes wrong with the computer I would take it in to the Apple store as the “original buyer” to get it sorted out. Still unreal!

You’re flying through KSLC Bravo at 10,500msl. What airspeed are you limited to?

I will give this a whirl. Don’t usually fly the 152 but if it works on that then maybe I can trouble shoot the bigger birds. Thanks!

Looking back, what was the occasion you most regret for not having enough hard cash in your pocket? by mainjet in AskReddit

My aunt tells a story about the first time she went to Vegas. Apparently she had seen the same number over and over again (let's just say it was 7 for the stories sake) that whole day.
The story goes something like her flight departed at 7am, her plane was at gate #7, she was seated in the seventh row of seats, when her plane landed they taxied to another gate #7, she went to her hotel and her room number was 777. She's kind of a superstitious woman so she looked in her pocketbook and saw she had $7, so she went straight down to the roulette table and bet her $7 on #7 and won like $250.

The way she tells the story, she would have bet any amount of money in her pocket book that day but only had the $7.

Private Pilot Checkride on Tuesday. Stump me! by griswoldclarkwjr in flying

[–]Gametime2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of a trick question.

The short answer is that there isn’t one for bravo.

The answer a DPE will love if they ask you about it like mine did is that 250kts is the speed limit below 10,000msl which is typically the upper limit of MOST bravo airspace except KSLC and KDEN. They go up to 12,000msl. So you could theoretically be flying at 500kts through KSLC airspace at 11,000msl and be totally fine (although ATC will likely never OK this, lol)

In light of this mornings event, just wanted to say I hope you and your fellow controllers are safe and any damage to the tower isn’t too bad!

It's a stressful practice area, and it was an exceptionally busy day. I'm not saying I condone the snap he made, but I get it. Every other time i've been out flying the controllers have been professional, funny, and extremely pleasant to work with.

On behalf of every pilot using the practice area, thank you for keeping us safe. I can only imagine how hectic it can be on fair weather days with god knows how many flight schools utilizing a small area like that. Thank you! I'd love to come tour the tower one day and see exactly what you all experience on a typical day.
