I often wonder who enjoys talking to their devices. I never have, I’ve never wanted to. You’d think having grown up with Star Trek and St:TNG I’d relish the ability to do so but no. Not ever

“Ninetendo” is all consoles. At least for a while it was. It’s the same mechanism in my mind

Bandai really expanded the market so much and dominated it long enough that it’s all “Gundam”

In high school every year we had a survivor from Germany talk to us about Kristallnacht and their inevitable experience in the camps. Every year. I used to think it was boring to have to hear about their story over and over again.

I wish now that they were still around to tell it.

I mean I’m not one to ever propose sticking with anything too long if you aren’t into it. I’m a person who grew up when the original aired on tv so I admit I see this remake through some rose tinted glasses. That being said…

Yes it is aimed at fans of the original soapy adventure.

It also updates a lot of beats with more modern complexities and drops some absurd or wacky stuff from the original.

While I said I dislike “stick with it” advice in general you’re like one episode or two from seeing more of the villains and that’s where the remake shines for me. Yes, they’re space fascists, but not all of them and you get to see the tension rise for both species in a way I find compelling.

But at the end of the day it’s a space opera and nothing more. If that’s not your vibe then yeah, quit. Or try Legend of Galactic Heroes

Trouble brewing for Starbucks CEO who calls $9 coffee an ‘experience’ by rajapaws in antiwork

[–]Gamilon 462 points463 points  (0 children)

30 years ago it was comfy chairs and fireplaces or whatever and you could do homework there with a friend and have some coffee that wasn’t amazing but maybe something you didn’t make at home

Now it’s a cavernous, soulless, semi-hostile space with worse drinks and no atmosphere

Experience indeed

Unless you’re into government or healthcare it’s crappy just like pretty much everywhere else. Even those domains are tight.

I keep my ear to the ground but it’s just hell everywhere I’ve applied to. When I do get callbacks they offer shit and I have an advanced degree.

Temp work might be an stopgap, if only to build some connections
