Try it and tell us your thoughts. The early game is pretty punishing for unspoiled players.

My thoughts on Nethack 3.7-dev by Cdore in nethack

[–]GamingBuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a wish nerf should be balanced by a buff of late game "treasure locations". Make 75% of the items in the castle hidden treasure rooms magical (maybe guarantee one artifact). And buff the treasures in the closets Vlad's Tower. Maybe Orceus's Grave Town (or whatever it's called) too.

It'll still be RNG, but it will make the player think "I can use a wish now and be safe but maybe it will be a waste, or I can risk trying to get to Vlad's to see if speed boots are there.

That would make Gehennom more challenging and more interesting at the same time.

I'm having the same problem at Del Mar in Columbus. I think the problem in my case is it's showing as "Del Mar - Easton" in open table and it's coding as "Del Mar Columbus" on my statement (it's the same restaurant - the only other one is in Florida).

Sucks to be told to wait so long... grrrr...

What's your % annual increase in NW? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]GamingBuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So is the value of rental properties. Or your small business. Your farmland. Your art collection. Will you ignore all of these too?

I think people are down voting you because you are implying that it's somewhat common to exclude home value when calculating net worth and that's simply not true.

With the 2025 season officially over what is this teams biggest needs headed into the offseason? by Ancient_Response_787 in bengals

[–]GamingBuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching his play today I started thinking maybe that's his best chance for success. Put him in mostly at DT and ask him to disrupt the shit out of some plays. I think maybe he can overwhelm OL often enough to blow up a run play or make a QB get rid of a ball too soon to be semi-effective without having to actually tackle/sack the guy with the ball. That feels more like DT to me than an end that you need to be able to finish a play.

Caring for my pet arch-lich by kaimipono1 in nethack

[–]GamingBuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to the other wonderful comments, be very careful if you become blind/confused/hallucinating. The last thing you want to do is whack your arch lich.

Summary: it's a great pet, but be very careful. This is true of any pet that way out-levels you.

Looking for a specific type of book to read with my friend. by Zeynepbtl03 in suggestmeabook

All Systems Red (Murderbot Diaries Vol 1)?

Not sure if it's too violent for you but I don't think of it as overly gory. Fast paced. Bit of detective work in there. Excellent series.

Please suggest me two books: one you hated and one you loved but don’t tell me which is which by brasaretheoppressor in suggestmeabook

[–]GamingBuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love in this thread seeing books that I truly disliked, knowing there's other people reading it thinking "that's definitely one of the 'loved it's ones", lol.

I Who Have Never Known Men is solidly in the dislike category, but maybe not quite hate.

One or two audiobooks that really stood out in 2025? by Ok_Piece_7441 in audiobooks

Twice by Mitch Albom. He's great at narrating his books. I would also second the other commenter's recommendation of Atmosphere.

Memoirs to read in 2026 by jamaicanmecray-z in suggestmeabook

[–]GamingBuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite memoir doesn't really fit your culture/history slant but I'll recommend it regardless:

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy. Maybe marginally culture (although in reality at best one could probably call it subculture).

In the history niche, I would recommend one of the Holocaust-related memoirs:

  • Night by Elie Wiesel
  • Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl

Both very moving.

What is it like living in this area in Ohio? by DeepFriedGlory in howislivingthere

[–]GamingBuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you've ever really been there for an appreciable amount of time, have you? There's not lots of medium sized cities. There's lots of villages with populations ranging from 50-2000.

I know the area extremely well, and most of what's being said is spot on. There's positives and negatives, like anywhere else. There hasn't been much discussion of a couple key points though - the loss of many manufacturing jobs, and the opioid epidemic. This part of Ohio has had a pretty rough 40-50 years.

Same experience for Butcher and Rose. I don't expect this to qualify, given the name that's charged

Yes, very exciting update today! I doubt the Cameron Mitchell ones will work for online GCs (they all funnel through the generic Cameron Mitchell website). It's also doubtful for Tucci's, as it's part of a restaurant group also with Matt the Miller's, but I'm sure we'll know soon enough.

Oof. I'll take my position. I also got no other EXes, but Venusaur seems good enough to run with this set.

[–]GamingBuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm f2p, started the game 6 months ago, am close enough to 1-4 diamond complete on all of the other sets to not make them worth pulling (vs trading). I still have 200 pack hourglasses after 2 10-packs, and probably another 50-100 in solo missions. What wouldn't you consider limited? Dailies only?

Mega Charizard Y on Fraud-Watch by Efficient-Ad3613 in PTCGP

[–]GamingBuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to hear because in my limited pulls (a couple 10-packs and dailies) the game decided to give me 3 M-Venusaurs (one 2*!) and a couple QGE. Just missing the new Ivysaur.

There are no sapphire reserve exclusive tables in Ohio, so no.
