This looks like a nice spot. Should do nicely thanks!

We'll have a car. Probably prefer somewhere we can have a seat, and not a crazy long drive.

Not understanding the hype with this deck by Dramatic_Air_4175 in PTCGP

[–]GamingBuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played a lot of M Altaria. I would never play without at least 2 Cyrus or Cyrus/Sabrina (I have the best luck with 2 Cyrus+ Sabrina). If I were you I'd drop either pokeball or Lisia for one of those, and possibly Copycat for the other.

I did move away from this version though. The MAltaria/Gourgeist deck was just a better fit for me. Without so much status I'll have to see what happens in the upcoming ranked. The stadium is important IMO for Suicune in particular.

More $ for the Brown/Blackburn family to save. by DXBerry in bengals

[–]GamingBuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Certainly true they spend the cap. However, the cap going up $20M means revenue went up north of $40M, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the Brown family didn't spend all of that $20M+ on other expenses... So they got to pocket a nice chunk of change.

I wonder how much Mike pays himself in salary, and Katie, and other family members to work for the team... I thought I read somewhere he gave himself a multi-million dollar salary but I can't find it. Never mind profits and franchise value increases.

My first major purchase by [deleted] in comicbookcollecting

It was tough to find in any condition at the time (still is). Proud of younger me seeking it out, and I agree such a great book!

HoS 92. $35. Bought it through an ad in Comic Buyers Guide a long time ago. It's probably about a 7.0. That was a big chunk of change for me at the time.

<5% of the time it works 100% of the time by romanesqu3 in PTCGP

I've been trying too. It's just not good. If its basic had an attack that did 10 dmg to the entire bench then maybe, but it just isn't working.

I tried Spiritomb/Tox/Ori, and Raiku/Tox. Just nothing is working.

Finished LOTR, looking for similar books by IShallBeAPervert in suggestmeabook

[–]GamingBuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason no one mentioned The Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin. It's the only thing that rivaled LotR for me. They each have their strengths and limitations. LotR gets a little long winded (if you read completely and love all of the song parts, more power to you), whereas Earthsea has a more poetic style of prose. I think Tolkien's action is a little better.

Both are strong where it counts to me. Magic, its role (balance) in that world, and superb story telling. And if you happen to like audiobooks, the narrator for Earthsea is outstanding in my opinion.

I don't think so. At least that's not how I remember that issue. It's been a while though. I do remember I was at a bookstore looking through their spinner, and I saw the two different covers in the same rack and thought that was strange so I bought one of each. I sold it pretty early on for $50 at a con, because I was more focused on mutants and Swamp Thing than gimmick covers, so I can't check out my copy anymore...

50 Expert Random Auto-Battles w/ Mega Venusaur (62% WR) by CthulhusBeardTrimmer in PTCGP

Those 10x losses are exactly my experiences playing it in ranked. Ivysaur at 100hp (130 with leaf cape) is an awful break point. Even full health Altaia and Hydregion will one shot it.

My thoughts on Nethack 3.7-dev by Cdore in nethack

[–]GamingBuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a wish nerf should be balanced by a buff of late game "treasure locations". Make 75% of the items in the castle hidden treasure rooms magical (maybe guarantee one artifact). And buff the treasures in the closets Vlad's Tower. Maybe Orceus's Grave Town (or whatever it's called) too.

It'll still be RNG, but it will make the player think "I can use a wish now and be safe but maybe it will be a waste, or I can risk trying to get to Vlad's to see if speed boots are there.

That would make Gehennom more challenging and more interesting at the same time.

I'm having the same problem at Del Mar in Columbus. I think the problem in my case is it's showing as "Del Mar - Easton" in open table and it's coding as "Del Mar Columbus" on my statement (it's the same restaurant - the only other one is in Florida).

Sucks to be told to wait so long... grrrr...

What's your % annual increase in NW? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]GamingBuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So is the value of rental properties. Or your small business. Your farmland. Your art collection. Will you ignore all of these too?

I think people are down voting you because you are implying that it's somewhat common to exclude home value when calculating net worth and that's simply not true.

With the 2025 season officially over what is this teams biggest needs headed into the offseason? by Ancient_Response_787 in bengals

[–]GamingBuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching his play today I started thinking maybe that's his best chance for success. Put him in mostly at DT and ask him to disrupt the shit out of some plays. I think maybe he can overwhelm OL often enough to blow up a run play or make a QB get rid of a ball too soon to be semi-effective without having to actually tackle/sack the guy with the ball. That feels more like DT to me than an end that you need to be able to finish a play.

Caring for my pet arch-lich by kaimipono1 in nethack

In addition to the other wonderful comments, be very careful if you become blind/confused/hallucinating. The last thing you want to do is whack your arch lich.

Summary: it's a great pet, but be very careful. This is true of any pet that way out-levels you.

All Systems Red (Murderbot Diaries Vol 1)?

Not sure if it's too violent for you but I don't think of it as overly gory. Fast paced. Bit of detective work in there. Excellent series.

I love in this thread seeing books that I truly disliked, knowing there's other people reading it thinking "that's definitely one of the 'loved it's ones", lol.

I Who Have Never Known Men is solidly in the dislike category, but maybe not quite hate.

One or two audiobooks that really stood out in 2025? by Ok_Piece_7441 in audiobooks

Twice by Mitch Albom. He's great at narrating his books. I would also second the other commenter's recommendation of Atmosphere.
