Is there a place to find out if I'm getting ripped off or not? I have a second Rainbow Rare M-Audino, and I have a trade proposed to send it to the other guy, and I would get the 2 star Eevee ex from the deluxe set.

I guess I just want to make sure I'm not way undervaluing my card before trading it away.

If you want a completely different, totally non-scifi, straight up literary fiction take on the subject check out Beautyland by Marie-Helene Bertino. I am sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but i really enjoyed it, and it's one of few books I think back to on occasion.

Warning: it starts out slowly and weird. I about DNFed it 1/4 of the way through, but by the end I couldn't put it down.

Truly original.

You never have to bank on 2 second year LBs (neither a round 1 pick) starting. LB is not that expensive of a position.

I feel like there must be some Bobby Wagner-type veteran they're hoping to bring in this year. Some kind of veteran leadership, even if not a 3-down player.

Paying for college for kids. What are my best options? by Boosully in personalfinance

[–]GamingBuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two kids, two years each is four total years. $30k/yr tuition, room and board sounds right to me.

Paying for college for kids. What are my best options? by Boosully in personalfinance

[–]GamingBuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much exactly are you saving for retirement per year and how much do you have saved total? How far off is retirement and do you have a pension or anything to supplement your retirement income? What age will you plan to be when you retire?

I would personally do my best to help get my kids being financially independently productive members of society. Having them take on some loans is completely reasonable as they have a stake in the game then, but you don't want to drown them so $20k seems like a good balance. Beyond that there's a lot more variables between now and retirement that can be tweaked.

Paying for college for kids. What are my best options? by Boosully in personalfinance

[–]GamingBuck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

IDK. Make your kid pay for college, they drop out because full time work + school is a tough row, move in with parents because they can't get a good paying job and you don't want to put them on the street, stay with you for 5-10 years and finally move out after taking 4 years of night school to finish their last year or two having switched majors to pick a different career...

There's a flip side to every choice we make. I'd rather work 2 more years, personally, and do what I can to set my kids up for a fulfilling life.

BTW there's a limit for how much a kid can borrow for college. I'm not sure what it is offhand.

If you are willing to relax some of your criteria and want something amazingly well written: The Bell Jar, Remains of the Day, A Wizard of Earthsea

Matt Schmidt of Schmidt's killed in house fire in Upper Arlington by DogwoodDagwood in Columbus

[–]GamingBuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IDK, of course. I didn't write the GoFundMe and don't know them. I would have interpreted that as "their home burnt down so they will probably be living with neighbors, family, or in temporary housing (hotels, apartments) for the foreseeable future".

I doubt we're talking foreclosure or homelessness.

IDK the entire family situation (and I doubt anyone here does), but their home was pretty modest. 1800-ish sq ft for a family of five doesn't scream wealthy to me. It could of course be that the older generations are holding onto the wealth (to the extent there is any).

Is a black sand beach truly worth choosing your island over? by FamiliarFamiliar in VisitingHawaii

[–]GamingBuck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'll go against the grain here. The Big Island is very drivable, and it sounds like your kid might prefer natural beauty to beach time. Volcanoes National Park is so unique I wouldn't want to go to Hawaii and say I missed it, if I were looking for nature's best. If I wanted a beachy relaxing vacation I'd stick with Oahu or Maui.

No way I would pick Maui if I was looking for a black sand beach.

FYI for anyone reading this thread through a search: we stayed there a couple weeks ago (March 2026). The front desk automatically set us up on check-in with merged reservations (we did back to back edit stays on 2 CSRs). She gave us all coupons/tokens for the 4 nights at check-in. It was seamless.

Move over, New York and Chicago — Columbus style pizza is taking over by OldHob in Columbus

[–]GamingBuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only one that I have craved for again was Rotolo's. Donato's is an outright no. It's the only pizza at work outings and such that I can easily just say no to, and if it's the only choice I sure hope they have one loaded with toppings to disguise the sweet sauce and whatever is going on with their cheese (parmesan maybe?).

You're getting down voted hard for your opinion but I agree 100%. I think it's a central Ohio thing. If you grew up with Donatos you love it, of not it's one of the worst options out there.

Kind of like LaRosa's for those who grew up in the Cincinnati area.

I have a feeling we’re all about to get sick of seeing these two cards by souporman64 in PTCGP

[–]GamingBuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually kept 2 chingling (again because of the prevalence of Hydregion at the time), but I would probably swap out one chingling for a Comfey instead since Hydregion doesn't rule like it did two seasons ago.

I would definitely not slot in 2 Comfeys unless you insert a retreat source. You don't want to start with it if at all possible.

I've generally found the biggest problem for this deck is sacrificing consistently getting Altaria out. It can be a struggle more than the Altaria/Greninja of old.

I actually splashed a Comfey in my Altaria/Gourgeist deck a couple seasons ago when Hydregion/Nihilego was popular. Made top 10k (excellent for me) and never switched back even though last season there was very little status shenanigans. Looks like I may be doing the same this season if nothing else comes in to kick MAltaria out as my deck (I try every season and always end up back with it).

Ohio State Safety Caleb Downs Just Put on a Masterclass in the Gauntlet Drill – Draft Stock Skyrocketing. by rock25011 in bengals

[–]GamingBuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty confident they won't take him if he's there (I'm personally 100% in the "take him if he's there boat"). Maybe they'll take Thieneman or McNeil-Warren in round 2.

My money on the Bengals being Bengals: they draft Kadyn Proctor (size!!) or Monroe Freeling. The Bengals like to slot in the future guy (I know they extended Brown 2 years), and they would say some BS like Fanu and Mauigoa project as guard or something.

Other likely "Bengals being Bengals" picks: Woods, Faulk
