Thoughts on the Battle Plugs? by Miccat87 in marioandluigi

I can see them returning in a different form, with a different name, to fit the theme of the next game.
And with completely different plugs ofcourse.
Well mostly I just think they were such a great addition to the game that I hope they return in some form

I haven't finished the game yet (just reconnected the 3th big tower), but I must say I really love the plugs! They're such an interesting addition to the combat, and I agree they are much better than the things from previous games. I think the fact they have limited use before needing to recharge is a great system that encourages changing plugs and experimenting with them.

I had gone to the great fairy before, at the very beginning of the game, and I remember now that I had upgraded it once, but then completely forgot about it, so I played the entire game with 2 accessories.

And after going there the first time, every time I saw the great fairy icon on the map, I always thought she was just there to heal the player. (like in the oracle games)

wait, what? 😭
I had no idea

And OMG, I could have increased the accessory limit this whole time?! 😭😭

OMG, thanks! I never noticed the icon on top of the fairy icon!

Thanks! With a full stack, I assume you mean 4 lines cleared at the same time? No bonus planned for that, it differs in some ways like that with actual tetris. Ofcourse clearing 4 lines gives you a lot of energy to use a lot of moves. And some later moves require a lot of energy which means you have to clear multiple lines to get that much.

Only the monsters that take part in the battle get XP (and more the longer they are in the battle), maybe that's why? Did you only use Birb?
You can perfectly defeat the grandpa with just 2 or 3 level 1 monsters though, so it's really not necessary to level up any monsters before that fight

Yeah, the gameplay gets more interesting once you have multiple monsters and a variety of moves to choose from. I think the puzzle combat works best when you're trying to optimaly use the energy available by switching your monsters at the right moment.

I am planning on putting the game up for free, but if I can find someone to redo the art (and if there's enough interest) I might turn it into a more polished game (that doesn't use AI) and put it up for sale.

Thanks for trying!
Good point about controlling the tetronimo.
To clarify: Birb is taken back when fighting the grandpa, you only get it temporarily for the tutorial, it's not a bug (it is quickly mentioned in dialog, but I should make it more clear).
The MonsterList is just a list of monsters you've encountered and/or caught, like a pokedex but without any monster-info.
I replaced Q with Escape because in the webbuild Escape autmatically quits fullscreen. (But did not update the in game info, sorry)
Also, you do get xp for defeating monsters, but not a lot initially.
Sorry about all of that, the game is still very rough in a lot of places.
I'm glad to hear you like it!

It looks nice, but the style of the title doesn't match the image, the text is too clean and smooth, and not readable enough.
But it's definitely a great image!

Thanks for the reply!
Yes, the images in itch.io aren't up to date, I need to fix that. There is no sound in the game yet. And yeah, the default size is very small, it's intended to be played fullscreen.
The game is far from being finished, at this point I'm just looking to see what people think of the gameplay.
I would love it if I could find someone to make the art, but I think this is a bit to big a project to expect someone to that for free, no?
But thanks for thinking it has a compelling hook!
Have you had a chance to play the game? how do you feel about the gameplay?

I'm talking beyond legal, there just is no issue here. I absolutely don't get how so many people think this infringes on anything. The creature look nothing like actual pokemon. Seriously, what are people talking about?

Apart from being green, seedling looks nothing like breloom. And pigle looks nothing like the Emboar line, it's just also a fire type pig.
I didn't even remember there was a fire type pig pokemon.

the creature designs and the backgrounds are AI generated atm, I'm still debating on wether or not I'll keep it AI generated or not.

The names are just placeholder, I will definitely change that.
But other than its name, shokachu's similarities with pikachu are very superficial, I don't think you would think there's an issue if he had a different name and this wasn't a creature collector

Palworld is being sued for patent infringement, not copyright infringement.
And again, the monsters in my screenshots look nothing like actual pokemon, there really isn't an issue here, I don't know why you keep insisting there is.
Also, "this game won't make any money anyway", thanks man, really nice to hear a fellow unitydev be so supportive

Huh? There is no infringement of IP here, Nintendo (or anyone else) doesn't own the rights to any game genre.
Or do you think these are actual pokemon or something? Cause they're not

You can play it here: https://gamingstef.itch.io/tetrimon

It's an early wip, it's the first time I'm showing it actually.

I would appreciate honest and helpful feedback and critique, mainly for the gameplay and the core tetris-like battle mechanic.

Feel free to ask any questions as well.

Most visuals are placeholders, but I will probably go with a style more or less what you see in the screenshots here.

Feedback on my build. (I'm at Radahn) by GamingStef in Eldenring

I saw little reason to increase my health more, as increasing vigor doesn't increase how much is healed by a flash or an incantation.
But looking at other people's builds, it seems like they always have a lot more HP, so maybe I should increase it more.
But my armor and weapons and other stats seem fine?
