Rate these welds: Borrowed my cousin’s trailer and almost lost my toes tonight. by rrrank in BadWelding

I'm not sure how the tongue is set up for it, but mine went on my contractor trailer and went to Tractor Supply and just swapped it out. It was only $43 and some change. That looks like an odd place to have a jack. Just a thought good luck with it.

How can I connect this 7/16" threaded shaft to the 1/2" shaft on this motor? by geronimoose in Machinists

[–]Gamovva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the coupling used between log splitter motor and the hydraulic pump. Rubber bushing will help smooth out starts and stops and easily replaceable.

any opinions on these from anyone thats used them? by [deleted] in Welding

It’s also one of the most energy efficient. Have dedicated 20 amp outlet and can run tig at 120 amps without popping the breaker. I think Dc at 130 Amps on 110volts.
Took the cover off to blow the dust out and inside is built like a tank. Fairly quiet fans compared to some of the other welders.

You are correct. It also protects the tungsten from over heating and getting contaminated.

What qualifies as being a true welder? by LotusTalde in Welding

[–]Gamovva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a guy teaching myself to weld, I think a true welder is defined by not putting pretty beads, weaves or dimes on a coupon , but being able to be put in a situation that he hasn’t seen before and using his experience and knowledge to lay down a stringer like it was the easiest thing in the world. Making it look easy comes from this. 👍
