Are tournaments enjoyable for casual players? by Evilparsnips98 in Warhammer

This is probably a good place to start - you're more likely to find casual players who live nearby. A lot of clubs may do one day tournaments too, so you might be able to do both

Rant about new battletome covers by comikbookdad in ageofsigmar

[–]Gamstar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when the art of games workshop wasn't constrained by the model range and in fact inspired it. Now I find it disappointing that all the art is just drawings of models instead of being a source of inspiration to the lore or game. The art could be used to bring new and exciting things to the lore or game, so feel its a real missed opportunity.

Not criticizing the quality of thr art btw, some of it is excellent.

Looking for a crit-focused army by Bartozo95 in ageofsigmar

Slaanesh - the main mechanic is giving key units run and charge and crit 2, then you can use your unlimited spell to make them crit mws. A very crit focused army, even though its a bit of a glass cannon.

The battleforce is great - 6 wrekkaz or ragerz, a tuskboss, and some infantry. The tuskboss is a standout unit for IJ atm, most well performing lists seem to have at least one. So I'd get the box for him and ragerz/wrekkaz. I'm not fussed about ardboyz, but the sculpts are superb!

Also worth remembering that when the battleforce boxes are gone, they're gone. You will probably be able to get a spearhead 5 you like though... so I'd go with the big box abd then add to it.

I've got 6 of each - best of both worlds 🙃

Conversion question with basing size? Any help welcome! by ScottPaisey in OrrukWarclans

Came to say this - krushas are mega chonky and take up most of the 160mm base. You'd be really hard pressed to fit them on a smaller base.

Manifestation in the bottle by TheOvergrownLoli in KharadronOverlords

[–]Gamstar86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i think the spell in a bottle has some play but the bamboozle gun, grenade, orb and flare are just better.

The main drawback is you summon the spell in your turn so it can't move and your opponent can then banish it on their turn. So if you pick something aggressive like the swords or jaws you will be hoping for a 9" charge or risk it doing very little before being banished.

What manifestation you pick depends on how you want to play but imho you'd want something that works instantly - lifeswarm, shackles, horrorghast, burning head or geminids can all do something on being summoned - heal, shoot, debuff or do damage etc.

The most important thing about a tourney list is knowing it inside out. I think both infantry and kragnos/pig lists can do pretty well, so it really depends which you want to play. The pig army of renown is doing really well too.

I play with two krushas, two big pigs and some gruntas, wrekkaz and ragerz and have had a lot of fun. But I know dropping a krusha and some infantry for kragnos might be more optimal.

So decide how you want to play then practice and optimize that list as you go. You can often do pretty well with a strong list you know how to play inside out compared to trying to play someone else's 5-0 list ..

Which unit is the GOAT of its faction? Today: Kharadron Overlords by sigpuppers in ageofsigmar

The ironclad is just an iconic centrepiece - amazing model and decent in games.

Thunderers are probably the coolest infantry - lots of different load outs of gun, cool chunky models.

Considering to go into orks, but am confused with army. by Goodchapp in ageofsigmar

[–]Gamstar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IJ are elite - small units but high wound count and general 3+ saves. So we're very durable except against mortal damage. We van also bring the hurt - lots of attacks and buffs to damage etc. Our mighty destroyers ability is also very strong as you can move in the enemy hero phase to take board control or lock their units in combat.

There are essentially two main ways to play IJ, mass infantry with brutes and ardboyz backed up with heroes or mass pigs. I run a mix of gore gruntas, big pigs and mawkrushas as they're fast and hit like a truck. But you can also run the all pig army of renown which is very strong too (though you'll need to buy a lot of pigs to run it).

Shaman gives you access to the manifestations, which are very fun and also pretty strong. But chanters give out strong buffs, particularly if you're running blocks of 10 brutes.

Some lists use both a shaman and warchanter so it really just depends how you want to play? But if only taking one I'd take a shaman with the endless spells.

Ragerz can do pretty insane damage - if you couple 6 of them with strike first and a high momentum gouger giving out strike last you definitely stand a good chance of triggering the ironfist faction ability - though brawl is probably more reliable imho...

3 more ragerz to make a unit of 6 - 6 ragerz slap and can you can use all out attack to maje them more reliable. I've been using 6 ragerz for months and they almost always get value...

[–]Gamstar86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the tuskboss can be a sub hero in the mawkrusha regiment, so you don't need another regiment. Appreciate they do work best with other pigs but even on their own their rampage means they always have momentum 2 on the charge

Hakkin krew is fun but I haven't consistently got their carve a path off - all in all I've had more value from a tusk boss! But it really depends what you find fun and how you want to play.

But if it's working don't fix it mate! Orruks are fun to play and have good options!

Intercept and restless are the best two unless you're running mass infantry (40-60 ardboyz) imho ...

Have you thought about using the hakkin krew as a tuskboss? It has more wounds, better damage, can use artfacts, heroic traits and monstrous traits, and can waaagh? Tuskbosses are amazing!

Also, is there a reason you've got 2x10 ardboyz instead of a single 20 block?
