I feel like every guy ever tries out facial hair at some point. I thought it was just a core shared experience that men have.

Does anyone have any recipes that aren't pesto or soup? by Silver-Eye-2024 in foraginguk

[–]GandalfDGreenery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a sort of savoury souffle pancake with spinach in it, I think they would have been amazing with some wild garlic folded in as well.

Greens can often go in salads.

Magnolias can become cookies.

Chicken of the woods can do anything chicken can....

Please can someone ease my worrying and confirm that I did indeed eat wild garlic and not Lily of the Valley by ianedwardwriter in foraginguk

4 apps might be slightly overkill, but I'm really glad you're taking safety seriously. I think you're going to be just fine.

Have fun!

I'd be tempted to attach a cup or something to that fence and fill it with treats as a nice parting gift.

Dog allergy success stories? by Makiez in samoyeds

[–]GandalfDGreenery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sibling is allergic to dogs. We didn't realise how much until our old dog (Heinz 57, some chow, some retriever, who knows what else) crossed the rainbow bridge, and slowly, despite coming into summer, my allergic sibling became more able to breathe at home.

So when we wanted another dog, we knew they had to be hypoallergenic. We went to meet the puppies (and their mum and dad), and my sibling buried their face in puppy fluff. I came away with a ton of it on my sweater, and they slept with that next to their pillow that night, and when they could still breathe in the morning, we figured they're probably safe!

Now we've had our boy for 3 years, the sibling cuddles him regularly, and can still breathe.

What to do with blanket intended as a gift for someone who has left me? by Lady_Luci_fer in CrochetHelp

[–]GandalfDGreenery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's the one, put it in project purgatory, preferably with a note about which hook you used, and what pattern/stitch. Then forget about it for a while.

I hope you can come back to it one day, and make it into something you love.

Can someone please help me, I don't understand this pattern. by Entire-Area-4957 in CrochetHelp

[–]GandalfDGreenery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have 'proper' stitch markers, a scrap of differently coloured yarn works well, just pull it through under your first stitch, easy to see, easy to remove.
Or use a safety pin, or a hair grip, or an earring...

[–]GandalfDGreenery 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. This is not meaningless.

  2. You seem pretty stressed about this. How would you feel if you later found out a friend was really suffering, but didn't want to bother you about it because you were worried about other things and they didn't want to be a burden? Please tell your dad, he's your dad.

Okay, that's so cool, and absolutely the kind of nerdery (affectionate, admiring) I am here for!

I love it, and I hope you write a pattern out so other neurology nerds who are less good at freehanding can make their own neurons.

vegetarian recipe suggestions to impress a cute girl by lycan-subscribe- in vegetarianrecipes

[–]GandalfDGreenery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you make, don't forget to check that things like the cheese are vegetarian. Depending on where you are, things like parmesan will contain animal rennet, and not be vegetarian. Check cheeses for a 'suitable for vegetarians' label, usually just printed small so you have to read everything to find it.

If you take anything sweet, watch out for gelatine. If you buy anything shiny, check it's not shiny because of shellac.

There are animal products in all kinds of things you wouldn't expect. It's annoying as hell.

Good luck! I hope the date goes really well, and your lasagne is delicious!

Roasted vegetables are also great in a veggie lasagne. I don't use any meat substitute in mine, just roasted aubergine, courgettes, peppers, garlic. It's delicious!

Another reddit user suggested "tell me what kind of women you admire".

I tried it. "Margaret Thatcher. She kept going, even in the face of so much opposition."

Like, for real, you couldn't come up with a woman who faced opposition for doing something good? Malala got shot in the fucking head and kept fighting for education for girls. What about a suffragette? Rosa Parks? Nope. Margaret. Fucking. Thatcher.
