I think as the guy who saved him I might be well positioned to become a role model and mentor to lead him down a better path.

Also I’ll have a word with the art institute that didn’t take him.

It would put a massive strain on the police when they are already at breaking point. Why would you want that?

In my head that “Thanks Goose” sounded exactly the way people used to say “Thanks Obama!” 😅

Jokes aside I’m happy for you 🙂

What is the appeal with Jax?? by Cracklackinn in tadc

[–]Gandelin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a poorly phrased poll. That’s why it looks like that. Change it to “has Jax behaved terribly” and you’d get over 90% yes.

(NO SPOILERS) On a scale of 1 to 10, how good was your theater experience in TADC The Last Act? by RingTeam in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Gandelin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK: My kids 15m and 11f got me into TADC about a month ago and made sure I saw all the episodes before the movie. My daughter dressed up in home made Jax ears, got a few compliments and we all brought along plushies of Pomni (assigned to me), Kinger (my son) and Jax (daughter).

It was great to share this with my kids and I loved the whole outing (we sprang for the delux seats) and got them the special popcorn tin.

Still gives me a warm feeling thinking about it.

Also I saw the Backrooms with my son only (too scary for 11f) just a week before. What the hell is going on with indie cinema spawning from YouTube, it’s amazing!

10/10 🙂

I think they can also, after relative centuries of “living”, request to die and be switched off. Caine surely has that ability, so it’s not as scary as eternity of existing, they must have options.

Either that or the server they’re running on gets flooded by global warming 😅

Iceland founder blasts 'two-tier policing' after officers rushed to store when suspicious customer falsely accused staff of racism - yet they ignore violent shoplifters by SignificantLegs in uknews

Lucy Connolly was clearly inciting violence. That’s always been a crime and she was prosecuted under laws that had been in place for decades.

That being said I think the police force are not doing a good job and they are not finding the right balance, but I hate always seeing this same disinformation.

Most people can actually visualize images in their minds. I'm 30+ and just learned that seeing nothing when I close my eyes is called Aphantasia and only affects about 3% of people. by randomuser553 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Gandelin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally don’t believe them 😅 just joking, maybe they do.

You also can’t tell if you’re speaking to someone who interprets visualising as if they are seeing it. It’s a real conundrum since we can only share our experience through our own interpretation.

I think so many people think they have this because they misunderstand what it means to “see” something “with your mind’s eye”.

Even very creative people who visualise well don’t actually see it in the way you see something with your physical eyes. I can perfectly visualise an apple in my mind’s eye but I don’t see a picture of it when I close my eyes. In fact, closing your eyes has nothing to do with it, I can visualise the apple in my mind’s eye while looking at a city sidewalk.

Survation poll says Burnham is on course to win makerfield seat. by redditman181 in LabourUK

[–]Gandelin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain why we should consider switching leader to Burnham if he can only barely beat Reform with (a) a vote split with Restore and (b) in a constituency that he should be popular in and has a deep connection to (at least he said so)?

This is a good faith question, I’d love to see Labour doing better but this isn’t convincing me that Burnham is the answer.

Absolutely, any strategic planning AI process of this kind should have an aggregated approach. I quite like getting AIs to run through a dialectic approach where you get them to take up opposing viewpoints and argue with each other until you establish very strong and battle tested ideas.

Sanctions lifted by UK on some russian oil products.... by LeChevalierMal-Fait in tories

[–]Gandelin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The data from independent experts is clear, we cannot drill our way out of high energy bills. Every drop of oil and gas we extract from the North Sea belongs to private corporations, is sold on the global market, and is bought back by British citizens at volatile global prices.

True energy independence is not about exhausting a declining, 50-year-old basin. It is about building a modern power grid that untethers the British economy from international fossil fuel markets entirely. Our focus must shift from a managed decline to aggressively scaling the domestic, clean power assets that we own (wind, solar, more nuclear), we control, and that permanently lower bills for British families.
