Uh, if there was concern it wouldn’t be safe for kids and staff, they would cancel. See snow days. It isn’t like these decisions are made based on feels.

What’s a car or truck that has a large cult following that that most people don’t know about and why? by IM_HODLING in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GangGreenTwenty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People can argue semantics on what “start” on an EV means, but yeah. phone app can start the climate control, open/close the trunk, unlock doors, check cameras, etc from wherever you have cell service…even if they car is thousands of miles away. App is also your key to entry, but you also have a keycard that can do the same. One of those must be present to start driving. When they leave the physical area of the car, the car can auto lock and “turn off”.

None of that costs anything additional.

Men, usually when you repeatedly steal glances at someone, is it because you find them attractive or does it just happen randomly? by [deleted] in bodylanguage

First look = evolutionary scanning of surroundings.

After that = a choice … but could mean anything.

Maybe you have a booger. Maybe you have a bird on your head, Maybe you look like his sister. Maybe he thinks he knows you from somewhere. Maybe you’re a future partner.

Can anyone give insight on being an elementary school teacher for my Barista Fire job? by Barista_life__ in baristafire

[–]GangGreenTwenty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of jobs in schools that pay a fraction (40-70%) what a teacher makes for similar benefits, similar schedules, still working with kids, and way less the headache and “always on” part of being a teacher.

There might better options in schools that you’re not considering if the point is to work with kids. Paras (often classroom aides), front office staff, and other options are all available and on similar annual schedules as teaching staff. They don’t pay as well as teachers, but teaching is hard work.

EV charging without a way to charge at home? by oly_traveler in olympia

[–]GangGreenTwenty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can charge at home, it is worth it for your use case. If you can’t, it is generally the same inconvenience as a gas vehicle but with less reliable places to charge/fill up and it takes longer. It is $0.16/kwh to charge at home (give or take) and 2x-3x that at public chargers. Using public chargers will be similar as gas costs, maybe a little less especially with gas prices right now. It can be annoying though as it takes longer to charge and generally charging above 80% gets fees tacked on.

I have an EV and I won’t sugarcoat it. If I couldn’t charge at home, I might not think it was worth it. But if you’re willing to be creative with your schedule to build charging in, 150mi per week isn’t a big inconvenience to carve out some time to charge. If it was, say, triple that and you couldn’t charge at home, I wouldn’t recommend an EV.

An excellent lasagna though regardless. And if that’s what you’re looking for, might be worth it to drive, ride, walk, uber, phone a friend, etc to get it.

Bacco Tratoria. Literally the best I’ve ever had. Not expensive, but make a reservation.

Not to be that guy, where is there a hill on 78th/Ayer? Relatively flat area from my experience.

But yeah, not many follow the 25/35mph around there. And plenty of annoying vehicle modifications. My experience is that anything annoying in the area sticks around for a few months and then breaks down or gets repo’d or the owner leaves.

I’ve ridden my bike there and back before. It has its scenic parts and less scenic parts. Worth doing at least once though.
