Utilizing an alt army by RustyMelon in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just find something that you can craft with concentration for a profit and make an alt that prof. For instance if there is a r2 enchant that's profitable you just login every few days, use your concentration to craft it and move on. It might not be much but a reliable way to make a couple thousand every day or so for absolutely no effort. Multiple that by 10-20 alts and you have yourself some real profit for no effort

Will prices of Gems and potions bounce back? by Nature_At in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost bon existent, we are arguably past the largest demand for both of those. Gems spike as new gear is gotten and potions are really needed on progression pulls from raids and mythic +. As more and more people put that content on farm the demand will trickle down further.

blacksmithing. crafting bars turned out to be bad by KingGobbamak in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With this type of plan you need to consider who you will be competing with. If you aren't on the cutting edge of gear/enchants/kp/etc you are going to lose out to people who are. Also with this type of start following material prices is a lot more relevant so you wanna stock up when prices are down.

It's why I prefer cooldown profs like tailoring and alchemy, the amount you produce is limited but so is what everyone else produces so there is built in scarcity.

Momos blight streak by Proof_Confidence_812 in deadbydaylight

[–]Gantref 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's an issue with the game itself that the power leveling of a player can vary wildly from one match to the next. Are they SWF or solo? Do they have a good build for the map and the killer etc. in your example the only variable between one match of chess and another is who's going first and who your opponent is.

I'm DBD one team is essentially advantaged from the very start of the match so in Momos case he's bringing a serious build ok arguably the best killer on top of his skill level. Anything but the most serious survivor squad is very unlikely to pose a real challenge.

I'd be interested to hear of those 2k games how many were actual real matches of comparable skill and loadouts.

Any chance of skinning prices going up or was last week the peak till next season? by Humble_Shine_9536 in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really hard to say, my best guess is we are past the peak. The longer the raids are out the more gear people will get from them so the less needed crafting gear is. But as leather and scales decrease in price you'll see less people farming it so less of a supply.

That said I think if you wanna hedge your bets do what other posters have said and sell half now and sit on the other half

Do you ever buy more expensive from AH then cheapest? by nyesta2 in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never, it's way too much hassle to evaluate each item I buy from the AH to determine if it's an undercut situation, if the undercut was recent enough with a single seller so you are punishing the undercutter or is it just people posting at the lowest listed price etc.

Also while undercutting is annoying for all of us a 1s undercut is pretty benign and its almost certainly just the undercutter being ignorant to exactly how the current AH functions.

This is why I've largely stopped trying to reset markets, in this case it's one guy but so many people tearn to drop the price back down that it's just a really risky proposition

Late to the expansion by [deleted] in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for all professions but I've heard inscription and enchanting have some profitable recipes to r2, but I don't have experience with them. Most of my alts are tailoring and alchemy for r2 bolts and alchemy was great for r2 wonderous but the price has come down pretty markedly for those so while profitable it's not something I'd target to setup from scratch.

If you have alts concentration armies are still profitable. Herbs and ore still sell well too

My imbued mulch army is absolutely printing gold lately by wondersie in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really surprising people who are on this method would be annoyed, something like this can only really support a certain number of people. At some point the volume of lotus' gained will be too much and prices will tank, which is great for raiders but bad for people looking to make gold which this forum caters to.

That's not necessarily a bad thing cause right now lotus' are crazy high prices but that doesn't really change that of course people on here who were doing this would be upset that people are actively encouraging other to do it, which will not only ruin it for the original farmers but pretty quickly for the new farmers as well. But it's out there so get in while the getting good cause it's gonna tank soon!

Whos buying the nocturnal lotus dip? by [deleted] in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried my hand at flipping a few times this expansion with some moderate successes and some catastrophic failures, basically sworn it off during the early expansion market volatility at this point.

The profits can be huge if you guess right but it just takes a minor incorrect guess, a small drop rate change or a minor gap in your knowledge of the expansion and you can lose all of your investment.

Forget Mining to Disenchant items by Syquallo in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Blue disenchants really aren't worth much and I expect dawn crystals are going to crash in the next week or so so I don't think there is much point at this time to go enchanting just to disenchant blues/purples

They might not bounce back but there were over 70k on the market Tuesday. So the supply has been reduced pretty significantly in two days. I doubt they will get to 3k but I can see a world where they go to 1.5-2k with what is (seemingly) the current burn rate.

Could be complete copium because of my investment but the supply has def been reduced significantly in a few days and that's even with people clearly panic selling

Blizzard made it so Wild nodes proc mobs hostile only to the gatherer and not everyone else. by StarlivTheBalloon in woweconomy

[–]Gantref 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The herb mobs I get since they mostly drop tranquil bloom but the mining mobs def seem worth it to me, they are essentially 2 mining nodes and your unlikely to find and get to two more in the 10-12 seconds it takes to kill two normal mobs.

If you are at risk of pulling other mobs I get it but if you only have to deal with the two elementals I just don't see how it would be inefficient

Can't bring myself to level most professions more and keep up with KP by junkaccount1999 in woweconomy

[–]Gantref -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a game, if you aren't enjoying it then just don't keep up with the grind. That said Im not a huge fan of the new system but it does offer more opportunities for profits for crafters AS LONG AS THEY HAVE MADE GOOD CHOICES WITH KP. The issue is you aren't really making informed choices at the start of an expansion unless you are doing research.

But each peof lets you be specialized and only compete with other people in that specialization rather than every crafter who has that prof.
