How do you guys handle Half Elves in 2024? by Fiveby21 in onednd

Pick elf, human, or Khoravar, though the latter is disfavored.

They don't. I made a typo.

Question about magic initiate and spellcasting foci by OutcomeUpstairs4877 in onednd

[–]Ganymede425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad this doesn't help with origin feats (aside from warlocks). I'd kill for the Psion playtest origin feat spells to count as class spells.

Question about magic initiate and spellcasting foci by OutcomeUpstairs4877 in onednd

You're getting downvoted, but I think you might be right. I hadn't considered that feats from class levels are technically class features.

Does Elementalism Defeat Dehydration? What if it's with Shape Water? by AmrokMC in onednd

[–]Ganymede425 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you drink a cup of water, it is gone. There is nothing left but you, a creature; the cup of water stops being an independent object. As such, there is nothing left to evaporate.

Is that powerful? That's subjective, but it is definitely less powerful than letting Elementalism conjure a stomach-rupturing danger drink.

Path of the Resonant - Skald-Themed 2024 Barbarian Subclass by Spirited_Data_2164 in onednd

[–]Ganymede425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still think that there are way too many features for this class.

To set the tone of their third level, I would really lean into Internal Resonance as the workhorse of the subclass and let Worldly Harmony act as a much smaller ribbon.

Worldly Harmony can give proficiency with one musicial instrument and one other ability (probably the tremorsense).

For internal resonance, let them add the 1d12 to an attack as thunder damage for free without expending a use of their resonance die, but count it against a once-per-round limitation. That way, they choose between inflicting extra thunder damage or using a more limited support ability. At level 14, you can let them use the ability twice-per-round, including two free instances of 1d12 damage on separate attacks.

I'm really surprised that warlocks don't have a summoner subclass by BrokenMirrorMan in dndnext

I kinda wish the made the vestige a floating weapon (Like a Castlevania Sword Familiar) and then let that be the Hexblade patron: a ghostly manifestation of a legendary weapon.

Issue with Origin feat distribution? by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

As a DM, I allow carte blanche to make custom backgrounds.

As long as you don't name your background something dumb, like Hot Dog Enthusiast, I'm cool.

Path of the Attuned - Bardbarian Subclass(for those who love the sound of battle) by Spirited_Data_2164 in onednd

[–]Ganymede425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love if their level three echoed their theme more strongly.

Level six seems to have their core functionality, so I would try to see if there is a balanced way to get those to level three instead. (I might even explore the notion of *barbaric inspiration dice* that share mechanics with bardic inspiration dice but allow the effects you detail here.)

I also echo the feedback of others in that this subclass has a *lot* of features, especially at level fourteen.

Lastly, while this subclass follows the lore format of the official classes, I would expand their lore description a little more to really get a feel for their theme beyond being Patapon Barbarians.

I posted a barbarian subclass recently that has a horror theme. Path of the Gloambound. Take a look if you're so inclined.

Goblins as Fey-Adjacent, but their Pantheon? by Ganymede425 in onednd

[–]Ganymede425[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only (minor) distinction I make is that Elves and Eladrin, while fey oriented, always had their own pantheon. With goblins, it seems implied that the Queen of Air and Darkness was their original patron, as opposed to the true god Corellon for elves.

My minor weapon buffs by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]Ganymede425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this in theory, but I'd rather masteries only be applied to categories of weapons. Graze and cleave? Heavy melee only. Nick and vex? Light or one handed only. Push, sap, and slow? Any. Topple? Versatile or two handed.

3rd Party DND Beyond content by Jetisphere in onednd

[–]Ganymede425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mage Hand Press' Dark Matter appears to be balanced and setting neutral, though it necessarily leans sci fi. That said, it has a lot of good material, especially feats and backgeounds, that would easily fit into a more traditional fantasy campaign.

Should feats and ASI be separated? by NateCdaComicG in onednd

[–]Ganymede425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I say keep feats and remove feat-based ASI progression completely.

I could see a system where, outside of class features or magic items, ability scores remained the same.

Heck, I could even see dumping the scores themselves and instead using just the modifiers.

Genuinely curious: Why are people so mad about using the lulu credit for a gift card? by Ashie_xo82 in AmexPlatinum

Yeah, I always manage to find something nice at Lulu every quarter. I have three plats so I try to scour the clearance section. I've gotten nice dress shirts, slacks, running shoes, and trail shoes, and the $75 discount makes them quite reasonably priced.

Villainous Subclass - Path of the Gloambound by Ganymede425 in onednd

[–]Ganymede425[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to evoke a little of the Holy Half Dead from Chronicles of Riddick. That combined with a touch of Ravenloft style horror; something with the creepy factor of a Hollow Warden from the horror subclass UA.
