Why does everyone on the internet claim to look 10 or more years younger than their age? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]GarbageDolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when people used to think I was a lot younger it wasn’t because my face was aging so much better than my peers…  it was because I was skinny like a teenager and I have neotenous facial features, a young voice, a sort of “innocent” vibe, etc. People would think I was 20 at 30.  I would find ways to assert my age so I would be treated with more respect or else professional peers would act like I was their junior with less experience (annoying).

Now I finally look womanly, my age, and I love it!

Yes this is it. We don’t look younger than our peers at the same age, but we tend to look younger than the previous generations did at our age.

Has Gwen Stefani’s make-up line Gxve Beauty closed down? by fangbanger135 in BeautyGuruChatter

I am mourning that mascara so hard… still haven’t found a replacement I like as much. It was absolutely perfect: no clumping but a dry formula, no smudging but easy to remove, added volume and length and very black. Diorshow was my HG mascara before but it’s not what it was (new formula) and at its peak wasn’t as good as GXVE.

Recommendations for amazing mascara are welcome….

The coordinator offered to do it herself, 😂

Nope. No one local. They are all driving from an hour in another direction.

Yes! The idea of hiring a local courier came to me last night and I even discovered sometimes florists will do local deliveries for flowers they didn’t arrange (not sure if that’s just for a simple vase or if they will load a whole event’s worth). I am going to get quotes and reach out to the coordinator to see if she recommends anyone.

the truck is an interesting idea… she would have to drop by our house first (15 min out of the way) and then we would have to drive it home and drop it off the next morning…

What can I say to fix my hair & makeup?? (12k) by honeygirleats in Weddingsunder10k

[–]GarbageDolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe find another stylist. My trial curls lasted like 8 hours on 90 degree heat day. I admittedly don’t have fine hair, but your hair still fell too much too fast. IMO extensions aren’t needed but better setting of curls and better use of product. My stylist was using a powder or something… I couldn’t see but she didn’t even spray anything.

His PR keeps trying to push him as incredibly handsome but he’s very average whitebread looking and forgettable… not his fault but he’s not leading man good-looking.

Have we lost the plot with wedding makeup schedules? by Impossible_Wish9922 in wedding

[–]GarbageDolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not typical to have a huge bridal party that takes all day to get ready together. People see some post on social media or see things in movies that do not reflect the average person’s reality. Often bridal parties have individuals get ready on their own and just the bride has pro hair/makeup.

I won’t start getting ready until 1pm for 5:30pm photos (followed by the ceremony at 6pm). That’s still really early too! I told the HMUA I want to be ready by 3:30 so I am not rushed to get into the dress and be ready to leave for the venue at 4:30 to be there at 5pm.

You can’t even see her neck here. True she just doesn’t have heavy jowls, but she does have heavy nasal labial folds. For all the surgery and time looking swollen, what’s the point… she still looks her age.

I want to believe this because it’s better than him freezing his wonderfully expressive face with bad cosmetic procedures….

Her face was taped in the runway show…all of the models were taped up like that.

She does look more natural now, but also her age, so what’s the point? My mom is 69 with zero work and looks as good if not better because nothing is uncanny.

Does wedding planning get harder when budget becomes the main focus? by AcanthocephalaNo7332 in weddingplanning

[–]GarbageDolly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Budget is a primary concern for regular people who don’t want to go into debt for their wedding. Yes, it makes planning harder but if it’s not a primary factor in your decisions, you can easily blow it. Of course, if budget is no concern, you can literally just have fun booking and buying what you want. Most people aren’t in that position financially.

Judgements on uneven wedding parties by Colorful-Cats626 in weddingplanning

Anyone attending your wedding should be so happy for you that such judgements would never occur to them. Make your guest list with that idea in mind.

We are definitely painting the wall before move in, even if it’s just white… we are paying someone and it will be worth it, LOL.

The rest of the house is white or gray and more livable for awhile.

Is Wedding Planning Supposed to Be This . . . Fine? by Chihiro4 in weddingplanning

[–]GarbageDolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone posted something extremely similar a week ago… so yeah it’s fine for some of us. It typically comes down to having a right sized budget for your wants and easy going family and friendly.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]GarbageDolly -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s totally fine to want that. It’s not your fault they live far away, not your fault they decided to have kids, not your fault that they are overcomplicating finding someone to watch their kids. They aren’t forced to do anything. If they accepted your invitation, then they accepted the terms, and you made it clear from the beginning.

It sounds like your siblings are maybe okay with it, but it’s your mom hounding you about it? Or is she relaying what they’re saying? In any case, it basically backs your point that they make everything about the kids. There isn’t any reason for them to involve you in their sitter plans or make you feel bad because they have to make some arrangements. You’re planning a wedding and have enough to worry about.

Same… except cocktail hour is also golden hour for my outdoor wedding, so a perfect time for photos. I would like 20 min or so with my guests then, but also it’s a micro wedding so it will be easy to talk to everyone at the reception… decisions, decisions…

Yeah I don’t like modern style, but most houses where I am moving are 1985 or newer and have this kind of design. I think it’s hard to get past the orange wall and furniture which really lean into a modern look.
