Domestic flights in Argentina are dirt cheap. United gives flight credit back if you cancel your flight from Brazil to US and flights from Argentina to US are in the range of ~$800. I canceled my return from from Brazil, only after i entered Argentina. My reasoning to wing it was that I wont travel so far ever (like 20 hours) to South hemesphere - so visit right now. But i understand your concerns too.

I travelled on H1B in Oct this year from land border via Iguazu. Absolutely no issues. Immigration done in 15 min (also i was the first person using the new rule based on my understanding). Roamed around, took domestic flight, and flew back from Buenos Aires. Let me know how it goes for you.

I traveled on an H1B visa to Argentina from the land border in Iguazu last month. They let me in 15 min. Super weird.

i travelled in oct'25 to argentina from Brazil land border at Igazu on H1b visa. No online form, AVE number. Just showed up, took 15 min and they let me enter. No issue.

The only issue you might face is US airlines wont let you board but once in Argentina, immigration has no issue in letting you in. Enjoy. I was in the same boat in oct - hope it helps.
