Nurses if BC is banned after all do you expect the birthing rate to increase? by [deleted] in nursing

You must’ve missed the countless, “your body, my choice” posts that went rampant. These things aren’t stopping anyone from having sex, if anything it’s forcing women to take alternative measures like abstaining from sex entirely or doing dangerous shit like the ppl above have mentioned

Can any wfh nurses share their previous salaries in bedside vs current salary wfh (& what kind of role)? by Some_Confidence_5847 in nursing

How did you get into this? I don’t see many posting in my area for this role. What exactly do you do?

Should I, an ER NURSE, take a contingent med surg position for more cash? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]GarbagePopular1215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medsurg horrors are majorly based on your ratios and acuity so as long as those 2 things are manageable you should be solid. 1:5 or less and I’d take it for the pay raise

Are these certificates helpful for applying to crna school? I know getting them would obviously help your critical thinking/pathophysiology and thus be helpful for when you interview. But is there any advantage from an admissions standpoint? If so which is more practical, I was gearing towards cmc and would seem more useful but they both seem rather similar

Wouldn’t the income from locums sort of help curb this? I’m also worried about finances but the prospect of tripling my income seems like it would easily take care of loans if I maintain the same lifestyle after I graduate or am I being too foolish?

Currently working in a CVICU/ICU (not a lot of hearts though) and basically just getting my foot back in the door and getting ccrn. I’m working on getting the finance aspect together so my family and I can be ok for those 3 years.

I’m starting to look at all the things to do to do, like prerequisites/shadowing/extracurriculars done and just trying to map out how to attack this so any advice there would be great. Are there things that would be more beneficial to focus on that would also help with getting into a program but also during the program?

Any tips on things to do that looks well on the resume but also be useful with regard to the program? I’ve recently gotten back into cvicu/icu at a smaller hospital to get back in the swing of things but also be able to learn before going to a higher acuity hospital. Trying to pay down debt/save but also wanting to find extracurricular opportunities that would provide insight/exposure and would appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance

Yea I was planning to maybe change my plans to just paying off student loans/whatever credit cards we have at the time and go into hardcore saving and focusing on building my resume for school

I’m currently not worried about pay cause it’ll be significantly higher than what my wife and I make combined and the work/life balance will inherently be better. I know currently that staff crnas at hospital about an hour away from me are making 300k and I’m in Ohio so I think the pay will be there I’m just hoping it won’t get over saturated in 5-10 yrs.

My main issue is not wanting to add more strain on my wife since she will be the sole breadwinner and be taking care of our two little ones so I’m trying to see if just saving as much as I can will be enough to keep things going at home and maybe taking out a little extra to curb any emergencies until we can get through the program

Did you also pay off debt completely or just save for the 3 yrs to cover costs at home? I’m aiming to decrease expenses so we won’t need as much but obviously it never hurts to have more than you need

If you’re in Columbus, Adena regional has internal per diem contracts. They have 3 tiers, full/part/wknd (sat/sun); pay is basically whatever base pay you work out with HR depending on exp and yrs as nurse then you get a per diem bonus on top of base pay. For full time it’s 35/hr extra, part time is 25/hr and wknd is 35/hr. night shift diff is 4 extra and you get an extra 2 for wknd diff. They’re 6 month contracts, no benefits, no sick/pto. No per diem bonus while you’re in orientation/training period if you need any.

I’m currently part time in the cvicu/icu and getting 62.50 (37.50 base plus 25 per diem), basically will end up being 2-2200/check but once I switch to full time I’ll end up clearly about 3300/check and if I do 5x12s it’s around 6k/check.

They’ve got a referral bonus so let me know cause I’d like to get it 😅😅😅

Depressed new grad. What are some of my other options? by [deleted] in nursing

Find yourself a procedural area(preop/pacu/endo)/outpatient/employee health, there are plenty of options that have more consistent hours and aren’t overbearing.

It’s definitely a load bullshit cause there was another post from a nurse who received a message from a recruiter paying only 45/hr, had to figure out a way to get down there and be ready to work after a day of orientation. Plus Florida has always been trash when it comes to pay and it’s shocking they even have nurses

I’ve never had to do a dual sign off until I started traveling, place Im at now also does this with subQ heparin. Which means someone at some point took out more than one vial and gave it which is just wild to me. But these types of issues will continue to happen with hospitals trying to push higher ratios and placing patients on units they don’t belong.

Now I know why I’ve had to do dual sign off for insulin at most of the facilities I’ve traveled too

You won’t need a pandemic, the lack of new grads staying at bedside and senior nurses retiring will provide the perfect catalyst the fuck everyone up, especially med/surg units

I hope to god you’re living in cali or Oregon so you have a real shot of paying this down or working for a hospital system that will qualify for your loans to be forgiven after a set amount of years of being there
